The Verve Postpones U.S. Tour

The Verve has postponed their North American tour.

The band’s manager told L.A. Times writer Robert Hillburn in England that singer Richard Ashcroft “wanted to get some new music out of him, some recording and some rest,” before touring the States.

The group had been scheduled to play venues in the 3000-seat range this Spring. The plan will now be to re-book larger venues with capacities in the 10,000 range in the summer.

Their first single, “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” from their album “Urban Hymns,” recently reached No. 23 on the U.S. charts. A second single, “Lucky Man,” is due for release to radio this month.
