The tour (which will also feature performances from Lisa Loeb, the Indigo Girls, Suzanne Vega, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and McLachlan herself) will kick off on July 5 at The Gorge in George, Washington and will visit some 35 cities before winding down in August.
While a full itinerary is not set yet, the tour promises to hit San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Detroit along the way.
"We wouldn't have been able to do this five years ago," McLachlan has said, alluding to the enormous recent success of female recording artists. "It's a very cool feeling."
While the tour counts making "a statement about the evolution of the role of women in popular
among its goals, it also plans to make charitable contributions to LIFEbeat's AIDS awareness efforts, and RAINN's toll-free hotline for sexual abuse survivors.
