Aguilera Taps Destiny's Child For Tour

Christina Aguilera, Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, and Ginuwine are just a few of the folks scheduled to take the stage on Friday evening at New York City's Radio City Music Hall for the "Essence Awards 2000.

This year's show celebrates the 30th anniversary of "Essence" magazine and also honors star athlete Michael Jordan and acclaimed actor/humanitarian Danny Glover.

Presenters for "Essence 2000" will include Queen Latifah, Faith Evans, Tyra Banks, author Iyanla Vanzant, Robert Guillaume, Delroy Lindo, Shemar Moore, Susan Sarandon, and Blair Underwood. Folks who couldn't make the show but will present via videotape include Kobe Bryant, Harry Belafonte, Mel Gibson, Whoopi Goldberg, Spike Lee, Nelson Mandela, Rosie O'Donnell, and Alfre Woodard.

Patti LaBelle, Gerald Levert, and Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Choir will also perform at the "Essence Awards 2000".

Several non-celebrities will also be honored for their personal achievements

and contributions to the community, including Reverend W.C. Martin and his wife Donna, Mayor Emma Gresham, and doctors George Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, and Sampson Davis.

The "Essence Awards 2000" tapes Friday night at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall and is scheduled to air on FOX-TV as a two-hour, prime-time special on May 25 from 8-10 p.m. (ET/PT).
