Everclear Plan Headlining Tour In February

Everclear will mount their first major headlining tour in nearly three years in February, drawing heavily from the band's two latest albums without neglecting the past, frontman Art Alexakis said.

"We're in the process of weeding out songs right now and building three different sets," the singer/guitarist said recently. "We'll do some older songs, even going back to our first record, World of Noise (1993). There'll be stuff there for the newer fans; there'll be stuff there for the older fans. And mainly, it will be more interesting for us to play — more exciting."

Everclear plan to rotate among the three sets every night on the tour, which kicks off February 1 in Rochester, New York. Shows are confirmed through a February 15 stop at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia. Alexakis said a six-week U.S. leg will begin in early March. After that, the plan is to head to Europe for a handful of festivals in late May and early June before hitting Australia.

The trio dropped the pop-inclined Songs From an American Movie, Vol. One: Learning How to Smile in July and a hard-rocking sequel, Songs From an American Movie Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude, last month.

Singles from both albums are getting airplay, with "AM Radio," the second single from Vol. One, performing well at Modern AC and Top 40 radio and Vol. Two's "When It All Goes Wrong Again" getting attention at rock formats.

Alexakis directed the video for "AM Radio," which combines live performance footage with material capturing '70s culture and news events, ranging from "The Brady Bunch" and "American Bandstand" to the Vietnam War and Watergate.
