Since their 1971 self-titled debut, Little Feat have branded their own style of roots rock with original material and reworkings such as The Band's "Rag Mama Rag" (RealAudio excerpt) and Phish's "Sample in a Jar," from their latest effort Chinese Work Songs.
The group will kick off a summer/fall tour Aug. 10 in Keene, N.H., and then head overseas for several dates, including the Summer Nights in the Country festival Aug. 26 in Edinburgh, Scotland, with Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle. They return to the United States on Sept. 14 in Grand Junction, Colo., and play the Blues & Brews Festival on Sept. 15 in Telluride, Colo., with Robert Cray and the North Mississippi Allstars.
Other notable shows include a House of Blues appearance Oct. 20 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and two performances Oct. 2627 at B.B. King's Blues Club in New York before wrapping the tour Nov. 4 in Stamford, Conn.
In recording news, Rhino will release a four-CD box set, Hotcakes & Outtakes: 30 Years of Little Feat, on Sept. 19. The album includes demos and outtakes spanning the group's tenure with late guitarist/vocalist Lowell George.
