Lyle Lovett Tour Takes The High Road

Texas singer's summer outing starts at winery, ends at ski resort.

NASHVILLE — Eclectic country artist Lyle Lovett hits the road for his 2000 tour on Friday with a weekend of concerts at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Calif.

Lovett's trek continues through August and winds up on Sept. 2 in Aspen, Colo. Along the way there's no shortage of chic, comfortable and music-friendly settings. He'll play such prestigious and picturesque venues as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, the Wente Bros. Winery in California, Tanglewood in Massachusetts, Wolf Trap in Virginia, the funky John T. Floore Country Store in Helotes, Texas, (near San Antonio) and the Paolo Soleri Amphitheater in New Mexico.

Other home state dates for the Texas native, whose song "That's Right You're Not From Texas" (RealAudio excerpt) is becoming a Lovett signature, are Fort Worth's Bass Performance Hall, Lubbock's Municipal Auditorium and the Backyard in Austin.
