Kelly Clarkson comes face to face with her inner child in her newest music video "Because of You." The video depicts a household on the brink of breakup, with Kelly heading for the door prepared to leave. "The disconnect we want to create is that this kind of dysfunctional family can exist anywhere," says director Vadim Perelman.
As her husband is about to smash a picture of their family on the floor, everything suddenly freezes. Kelly looks over to a mirror and sees her child-self looking back at her. "The image of herself as a child causes any remaining anger to disappear from Kelly’s face," Perelman explains. "She turns to face the camera and a deep look comes across her face. Not one of shock or horror, but simply a dawning recognition."
Kelly proceeds to venture on with her younger counterpart, as they relive the anguish that was and is their childhood. Take the journey with Kelly of young and old in "Because of You" now.
