Riding high atop the list of albums hitting stores Tuesday is the soundtrack to "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement."

"Breakaway," the first single off the compilation comes from Kelly Clarkson, by way of Avril Lavigne, who co-wrote the song. Lindsay Lohan lets out her inner pop star on the Diane Warren-penned track "I Decide." Also featured on the album are tracks by Lavigne herself, Raven (who has her own track, as well as one sung with Julie Andrews), Pink and Wilson Phillips.

In other album-release news, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy release their first live LP this week, the aptly named Live. The zoot-suit-clad, big-band-influenced group, which helped usher in the swing fad of the late 1990s, has released five studio albums, including 2003's Save My Soul.

Rockers Nonpoint will release their fourth studio album, Recoil, the follow-up to 2002's Development, which saw the band taking a turn toward more radio-friendly tracks with more melodic vocals and instrumental hooks.

French pop singer Cherie made her debut with the song "Ready," included on the soundtrack to "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen." Her self-titled first album hits stores this week.

There's something for every music fan to reap from this week's crop of new releases, including albums from pop stars, metal bands, an American Idol, hip-hop artists and a long-gone girl group.

Avril Lavigne tries to Let Go of the bubblegum pop-punk sound of her last album and let you know the real Avril with Under My Skin. The first single, "Don't Tell Me," and its accompanying video are already getting heavy rotation on radio and TV.

Meanwhile, Slipknot keep it heavy on the follow-up to 2001's Iowa, with Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). On the lighter side of things, former "American Idol" contestant Tamyra Gray, who once dreamed of winning the highly successful reality show, releases her debut album, The Dreamer, this week.

No stranger to referencing his image in his album titles, Everlast releases White Trash Beautiful this week, his first album since 2000's Eat at Whitey's.

Remember when Wilson Phillips asked you to "hold on for one more day"? That was 14 years ago, and the trio are back with their first album since 1992. California features the group covering the likes of Joni Mitchell, the Beach Boys and Linda Ronstadt, among others.

If you've been wondering where the ladies of Wilson Phillips have been, you'll get at least a partial answer next week when Carnie Wilson, once one-third of the '80s hitmakers, will go under the knife live on the Internet.
The singer is slated to undergo gastric bypass surgery next Tuesday, and the folks at www.adoctorinyourhouse.com will carry the procedure live. In the operation, recommended only for excessively obese people who have had no success with traditional weight loss methods, doctors create a small thumb-sized stomach and attach the small intestine directly to it, effectively bypassing the rest of the stomach.
The site, billed as "the Internet's only celebrity featured health and wellness service," is carrying Wilson's surgery as part of an ongoing exploration of obesity. The singer and one-time talk show host has hosted chats about the condition and can be seen in RealVideo speaking about her weight
problem.
The site also follows Mackenzie Phillips as she considers cosmetic surgery, and chronicles Pat Boone's fight against prostate cancer.
