Will.I.Am has a special place in his heart for several things: the duo LMFAO, Pepsi, Michael Jackson and even Brian Austin Green from "90210." When the Black Eyed Peas mastermind explains it, the mishmash of names isn't quite as odd as it might seem.

Will was approached to work on a new Pepsi campaign to inspire other producers and artists to remix songs. So Will decided that if he were going to remix any song for the campaign, he'd choose a track by LMFAO, who are signed to Will's label.

"We got our start in Los Angeles," he told MTV News of the beginning of the Black Eyed Peas. "Our first demo was recorded in three people's houses — one was Brian Austin Green from '90210,' the second was Ben More [from Blood of Abraham] ... and another person who allowed us [to record] was Redfoo from LMFAO, and with that demo, we got a record deal."

Will added that he's known Redfoo since seventh grade and even tried to score a record deal from Red's dad, Berry Gordy, when he was a freshman in high school. "To make a long story short, here we are in 2009, and I'm doing this campaign inspiring other producers to go out and remix this LMFAO song," he said. "Berry Gordy is his pops, and Berry Gordy birthed Michael Jackson['s career]."

And the relationships go even deeper than that. "Michael Jackson did Pepsi," he said. "And I worked with Mike. BEP did a Pepsi campaign — just full-circle. It's kind of mind-blowing. And it's kind of dope."

Back in June, Perez Hilton made headlines when he accused the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am of assaulting him outside a Toronto nightclub. Will responded to that accusation with a video message, in which he claimed an overzealous fan had attacked the celebrity blogger, and that it was Hilton who had caused the situation to escalate in the first place.

Hilton then fired back with a video message of his own, a now-famous missive in which he painted himself as the victim of intimidation and violence, called Will "a f---ing liar," accused the Peas' manager, Liborio "Polo" Molina of punching him "two or three times" in the head.

All of that happened within the first 24 hours, mind you. In the days that followed the incident, Hilton drew the ire of GLAAD after admitting to using a gay slur during the altercation, his attorney threatened to bring legal thunder against his assailant, and Molina was ultimately charged with assault by Toronto Police.

After an initial adjournment, Molina's trial is set to resume on August 26 in Toronto's Old City Hall courthouse. Hilton won't be there, but when MTV News caught up with him backstage at "It's On With Alexa Chung," it was clear that he's still got plenty to say about the ordeal.

"I would like for the tour manager of the Black Eyed Peas to admit his guilt and say, 'I did this. It was wrong. Violence is not the answer,' " Hilton told MTV News. "And I would also like Will.I.Am to admit that he was lying — and lied repeatedly — when he made videos saying it was a fan who hit me, when he knows very well that it wasn't a fan, it was his road manager, and he was trying to protect that person by lying.

"There was even a picture that leaked online of the moment that I was hit, you know?" he continued. "Will.I.Am is stupid for lying, when there were so many witnesses ... there were so many people who saw what happened."

At press time, representatives for Will.I.Am had not granted MTV News' requests for comment.

Hilton also said that he's used the ordeal to "grow stronger," and that he wouldn't change anything he did on the night of the alleged assault — or has done since, for that matter.

"I walked away from that incident learning a lot. I am thankful in the end that I went through it, because it is through those tough times that you learn about yourself. And I feel wiser and stronger," he said. "There's a lot that I regret [but] nothing that I would do differently. Because had I not done those things, then I wouldn't know how to handle situations differently now."

If the rumors that Michael Jackson has at least a couple of hundred unreleased songs in his vault are true, then not only will the King of Pop live on forever in spirit, but he will seem to be alive in the industry as well. Those records could be distributed for years to come.

In the years since 2001's Invincible, music's elite have been telling MTV News amazing stories about their collaborations with Jackson for an upcoming album. Though the work was never completed during his life, we can look back at the clues these collaborators gave us to speculate about what MJ's next release would have sounded like.

"I'm writing a lot of stuff right now," Jackson told Ebony magazine in 2007. "I'm in the studio, like, every day."

MTV News confirmed that songwriter Sean Garrett, Grammy winners Ne-Yo and Kanye West, and music do-it-all T-Pain had all met with Jackson and discussed work. In June 2008, super-producer Swizz Beatz told us he was crafting tracks for Jackson as well producing pieces for his tour. Even Murder Inc. head honcho Irv Gotti traveled to the Neverland Ranch back in 2002, hoping to Jackson to let him helm the LP.

Chris Brown was pushing for a duet with one of his greatest musical influences in 2007. "He called me for my birthday, and I told him we should do a song," Brown told MTV News. "He was up for it."

DJ Whoo Kid openly dreamed of orchestrating a Jackson/ 50 Cent collaboration in 2006, after sitting down to a weird but extraordinary dinner with Jackson in Bahrain. "He was supposed to be there for like 45 minutes; he stayed for five hours," Whoo Kid recalled of how he met Jackson and later arranged for phone conversations between him and 50.

Jackson worked with Akon on more than one track, and a song called "Hold My Hand" leaked to the Net several months ago.

"He's incredible," 'Kon said of his first collaboration with Jackson, a 2008 remix of "Wanna Be Startin' Something." "He's a genius. Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved. That aura ... that's how incredible that aura is. We about to shake the world up, man. You know how you be with somebody and you can't even explain [the feeling]? I used to sit and think, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre, to a point [where] nobody can't be a part of that without associating with you?' The way he thinks ... some artists think regional, some think national, I was thinking international. He thinks planets. It's on another level."

Will.I.Am also told MTV News in 2007 that Jackson called him personally and had him work on a few songs. "I'm a fan of the dude," Will said at the time. "He's the smartest dude I ever met. I met James Brown, had the opportunity to work wit' him too. You get a couple of great people to help you live your life. You got your Michael Jacksons, your James Browns, Princes, Nat King Coles, just to shed light on the Earth.

"Michael Jackson, he told me what rock and roll meant," Will.I.Am added. "He said, 'Rock and roll, you know, that means having sex. That's what they used to say back in the '50s: "You ever rock and roll?" ' Chillin' with him, you have an outlook on what Michael Jackson will be like. He still is real proud of being black. A lot of times he's repressed in the media, so you don't think that."

In the wake of Michael Jackson's death Thursday (June 25), musicians, actors and celebrities — including some of Jackson's closest friends like Quincy Jones and colleagues like Justin Timberlake and Martin Scorsese — are remembering Jackson as their friend and mentor.

"I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news," Jones said. "For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words. Divinity brought our souls together on 'The Wiz' and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the '80s. To this day, the music we created together on Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad is played in every corner of the world, and the reason for that is because he had it all ... talent, grace, professionalism and dedication. He was the consummate entertainer, and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

In addition to JC Chasez, fellow 'NSYNCers Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass remembered the times they spent with him, like in 2001, when they performed at the VMAs together.

"I can't find the words right now to express how deeply saddened I am by Michael's passing," Timberlake said. "We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only pop music, but of all music. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations, and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him onstage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones."

"I am stunned and deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Michael Jackson," Bass added. "Michael was a huge supporter of my career, but more importantly, he was a good friend, had the biggest heart, and it was an honor and pleasure to be able to work with him and know him. There will never be another Michael Jackson. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Will.I.Am, who worked with Jackson, said, "I am so grateful to have worked with the King. He was a gift to the world. He is a bright light, and I wouldn't be surprised if the world stopped spinning tomorrow."

Seth Green also remembered Jackson in a statement to MTV News: "It's shocking and so sad. But for the first time in a long time, people are talking about all of the amazing things he was rather than all of the unfortunate attention he'd acquired."

The hip-hop community also shared its condolences. "Michael Jackson was my musical God," Wyclef Jean said. "He made me believe that all things are possible, and through real and positive music. He can live forever! I love Michael Jackson. God bless him."

"Michael Jackson was my generation's most iconic cultural hero," Russell Simmons said. "Courageous, unique and incredibly talented. He'll be missed greatly." Diddy chimed in on Twitter: "Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!"

A pair of legendary directors, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg also paid tribute to the late star. "Michael Jackson was extraordinary," Scorsese said. "When we worked together on 'Bad,' I was in awe of his absolute mastery of movement on the one hand, and of the music on the other. Every step he took was absolutely precise and fluid at the same time. It was like watching quicksilver in motion. He was wonderful to work with, an absolute professional at all times, and — it really goes without saying — a true artist. It will be awhile before I can get used to the idea that he's no longer with us."

"Just as there will never be another Fred Astaire or Chuck Berry or Elvis Presley, there will never be anyone comparable to Michael Jackson," Spielberg told Entertainment Weekly. "His talent, his wonderment and his mystery make him legend."

Perez Hilton followed through on statements his lawyer made on Tuesday and sued Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina for assault after Monday's alleged altercation.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, reports Reuters. According to the suit, Molina hit Hilton numerous times "in what can only be described as a spineless act," and Hilton suffered an injury to his eye. The gossip blogger is seeking unspecified damages.

In a related development, Hilton issued a statement apologizing for uttering an anti-gay slur against Will.I.Am during the incident.

Under the headline, "I'm Sorry," the Thursday (June 25) statement on his site said, "I am sorry that any good work I have done for promoting equality may be tainted by me reclaiming a hurtful word — that's been personally used against me and the gay community — to hurt someone that was verbally attacking me. It was stupid."

Hilton went on to say he will never use the slur again and then apologized to the gay community. He said he would not apologize directly to gay-rights organization GLAAD, which had requested a statement of contrition for using the word.

"I am not apologizing to GLAAD," he wrote. "I could care less about them, my former employers."

In his statement, Hilton said all monies from his lawsuit will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

It's the biggest pop-culture blowout of the summer: the alleged assault of Perez Hilton by Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina in Toronto on Monday morning, and the resulting war of words that has erupted between the celebrity blogger and BEP rapper Will.I.Am.

It began with some frantic, early-morning tweets and has grown to encompass multiple response videos, grainy camera-phone footage, the Toronto Police Service, GLAAD, TMZ, "Access Hollywood," every celebrity's Twitter page and finally, some litigious threats from personal attorneys.

To be honest, the events of the past few days happened so fast that even MTV News was getting confused (was Perez's response video a response to Will's response video, or vice versa?), which is why we've created the following timeline with a minute-by-minute account of the whole incident, from the first terrified tweet to the last legal brief.

Monday, 2:34 a.m. ET: Hours after attending Canada's MuchMusic Awards, Perez Hilton takes to his Twitter account, writing, "I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please ... I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

3:47 a.m.: Will.I.Am creates a Twitter account, specifically to deny Hilton's claims. "It isn't cool for someone to blame you and blast you with lies," he writes. "Perez Hilton is a liar."

5:10 a.m.: Will posts a video message on his Dipdive page, denying that he had anything to do with Hilton's assault. He instead speculates that a fan attacked Hilton, after Hilton called Will "a f----t" outside Toronto's Cobra nightclub. Will also says that while the alleged assault was taking place, he was "minding [his] own business waiting for a car and whatnot."

10:18 a.m.: Hilton fires back at Will.I.Am with an emotional, 12-minute video rant, in which he accuses the Black Eyed Peas' manager, Liborio "Polo" Molina, of assaulting him, and calls Will "a f---ing liar" for suggesting that a fan assaulted him. "Will.I.Am is a coward and a disgusting human being for lying," he says. "I'm making this video because I want to make it clear that I would never make up something like this."

Monday afternoon: A second Will.I.Am video begins making the rounds, in which Will once again denies Hilton's claims, and says that the fact that Hilton tweeted about the incident proves that he was looking for attention. "Dude, apparently, you were bleeding outside the club ... and instead of calling the police, you [tweeted] that I assaulted you," Will says. "Sounds like somebody wants mad attention and is not really concerned with his health."

2:15 p.m.: Footage of the altercation appears on TMZ. Though blurry, it shows Hilton shouting an anti-gay slur at two men, whom the Web site identified as Will.I.Am and Molina, while security guards and partygoers look on. Moments later, a scuffle breaks out, and someone can clearly be heard shouting, "You just assaulted Perez Hilton!"

Monday afternoon: Molina turns himself in to Toronto Police in connection with the alleged assault.

9:00 p.m.: The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation releases a statement to TMZ, chastising Hilton for using an anti-gay slur when taunting Will.I.Am, and urging him to apologize for his actions. "For someone in our own community to use [the slur] to attack another person ... is incredibly dangerous," GLAAD's statement reads. "It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes."

Tuesday, 8:04 a.m.: Hilton responds to GLAAD's statement with one of his own, telling TMZ that he is "saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation." He also says that he has no plans to apologize for using the slur, and that GLAAD should really be apologizing to him.

2:23 p.m.: Toronto Police formally charge Molina with assault. He is due back at the Old City Hall courthouse on August 5 to answer to the charge. If prosecutors choose to charge him with an "indictable offence," Molina could face up to five years in prison, or, if they opt for a lesser "summary offence," he could serve 18 months.

8:41 p.m.: Hilton posts a statement on his own Web site, calling his use of the anti-gay slur "misguided," but continued to defend his right to employ such language if he feels threatened. "I was in an out-of-the-ordinary situation and used a word that I would not utter under normal circumstances," the statement reads. "My intention — however misguided it may have been — was to stand up for myself and tell this belligerent man that I had enough of his badgering and was not going to continue to let him berate and intimidate me."

Wednesday (June 24), 11:34 a.m.: Hilton's attorney says his client is planning legal action over his assault. "All persons responsible for this cowardly act of physical violence will be sued and held legally responsible for their actions," Bryan J. Freedman said in a statement. "His First Amendment rights will not be infringed upon through fear, intimidation or violence."

1:34 p.m.: GLAAD issues a statement saying that while Hilton took the right step in acknowledging that "words can hurt," he still needs to "take this opportunity to reflect on his use of demeaning and defamatory language against many different communities on PerezHilton.com."

The Black Eyed Peas' manager is due in court August 5 to answer to the assault charge, so stick with MTV News for all updates on the situation between now and then.

On Tuesday, Perez Hilton took to his Web site to issue a new statement about his war of words with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am. In the statement, he called his use of an anti-gay slur "misguided" but defended his right to employ such language if he feels threatened.

On Wednesday (June 24), GLAAD released a statement in response to Perez's apology, noting that violence is wrong, as is Perez "justifying the use of the slurs."

"First and foremost, it is important to remember that the violence committed against Perez Hilton is absolutely unacceptable and ought to be condemned in the strongest possible terms," wrote Rashad Robinson, senior director of media programs at GLAAD. "Perez Hilton's acknowledgement that words can hurt is an important step in the right direction, and while his change of tone is welcome, he still seems to be justifying the use of the slurs.

"A statement that stops short of apologizing for and disavowing the use of that slur doesn't get us where we need to be — these are vulgar, anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance that continues to put our community in harm's way," the statement continued. "When someone from our community uses a far-reaching media platform to promote these kinds of slurs, it sends a message that it's OK to use these dehumanizing words.

"This is an important moment. Now that Perez Hilton has acknowledged that words can hurt, GLAAD calls on him to take this opportunity to reflect on his use of demeaning and defamatory language against many different communities on PerezHilton.com — not as Perez Hilton, but as Mario Lavandeira, an openly gay man who just went through a scary and traumatic experience."

On Tuesday, GLAAD asked Perez to apologize for using an anti-gay slur. Hilton responded by saying the group should apologize to him for being critical of his actions. On Monday, Black Eyed Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina turned himself in to Toronto Police and was charged in Perez's assault.

Following an alleged altercation with the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am and the band's manager, gossip blogger Perez Hilton has released several written statements, a video response and streams of Twitter posts. Now he's getting set to sue, according to a report from "Access Hollywood."

"All persons responsible for this cowardly act of physical violence will be sued and held legally responsible for their actions," Hilton's attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, said in a statement. "His First Amendment rights will not be infringed upon through fear, intimidation or violence."

Hilton was said to suffer a cut beneath his eye during an altercation between the blogger and Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina early Monday morning in Toronto. Hilton directed an anti-gay slur at Will in the course of the incident.

"Perez will take legal action against anyone who chooses to resort to physical violence as a means to respond to criticism they do not like," the statement continued.

Freedman also stated that they "are conducting a legal investigation as to whether Will.I.Am encouraged and/or instructed Molina to engage in this physical assault."

Toronto Police have charged Molina, 36, with assault. He must return to Toronto's Old City Hall Courthouse on August 5 to answer to the charge.

In a new statement posted on his Web site on Tuesday, gossip blogger Perez Hilton called his use of an anti-gay slur during an alleged altercation with the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am and his manager "misguided," but continued to defend his right to employ such language if he feels threatened.

"I was in an out-of-the-ordinary situation and used a word that I would not utter under normal circumstances," the statement reads. "My intention — however misguided it may have been — was to stand up for myself and tell this belligerent man that I had enough of his badgering and was not going to continue to let him berate and intimidate me."

Hilton uttered the slur outside a Toronto nightclub during an alleged fight between the blogger and Peas manager Liborio "Polo" Molina. Toronto police charged Molina with assault on Monday afternoon.

Hilton's statement follows an exchange between the blogger and the gay-rights organization GLAAD, which had asked Hilton to apologize for using the slur. Hilton at first responded to GLAAD's statement on Tuesday by saying the organization should apologize for criticizing him.

"Clearly, I am not homophobic," Hilton says in his new statement. "Also, I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a spokesperson for the gay community. I am just speaking for myself, a gay man. One who is labeled 'flamboyant' in the media. An American that is not granted equal rights under the law."

Hilton also mentioned that this incident has instilled a new sense of compassion in him. "[T]here was an instance last year when actor Jesse Metcalfe was attacked outside of a Hollywood nightclub by a fellow entertainer. I did not condone the violence, but I did make light of that situation. I regret that."

It seems like everyone in Hollywood has an opinion when it comes to the incident between gossip blogger Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am. After news broke of their reported altercation in Toronto over the weekend, celebrities began reacting to the news that Will's manager, Polo Molina, allegedly hit Perez after he called Will an anti-gay slur.

Aubrey O'Day, who has been regularly bashed by Hilton, spoke to MTV News about the incident and actually seems to be on Hilton's side, at least in principle. "I'm sure as everyone knows there've been many times I wish I could slap Perez, but you don't, 'cause at the end of the day, he's doing a job. You're doing a job, and there's a place for everyone in this industry, good or bad."

Nick Cannon, who recently got into his own online war of words with Eminem, isn't taking sides in this beef, but does have some advice for Hilton. "It's funny, 'cause I know both of them; they're both good people in their own right," he told MTV News. "Some people don't like Perez, but Perez is very opinionated, and it's kind of like one of those things — sometimes you got to watch your mouth. But violence is never the answer. Why everyone bringing Will.I.Am into it? He ain't the one that punched Perez. The entourage can always get you in trouble. See, Perez has to get himself a more gangsta entourage. All controversy is good controversy for him."

Some celebrities think that Hilton's negative coverage of celebrities like Tila Tequila and John Mayer, and the words he used when speaking to Will.I.Am the night of the incident, led to the confrontation. "When you get rich saying hateful things sometimes you ask for it," said "Transformers" star Josh Duhamel, who is married to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, told "Entertainment Tonight." "It's an unfortunate incident, and I hope it goes away."

Kelly Clarkson, who was also in Toronto over the weekend for the Much Music awards, commented about the incident on the Canadian cable network's show "MOD." "When you dish that much out, you have to be able to take somethin'," she said, joking that she was sending flowers to Will's manager, Molina, who was officially charged with assault on Monday. And after noting that violence isn't the right way to solve problems, she added, "I've been hit in the face before, and I didn't cry about it."

On his Twitter, Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy wrote a post that seemed to support Will.I.Am, at first: "Will.I.Am-1, Perez-0. It's about f---ing time." But he later diplomatically added, "Violence is not the answer. Trust me, been through it. The fact is, not everyone is going to take being called a vulgar expletive lightly."

Frequent tweeter John Mayer instigated quite an epic Twitter conversation with Perez about the incident, first criticizes him for exhibiting "a profound lack of control" and then offering to teach him the Israeli martial art Krav Maga. "You know how to find me," Mayer wrote. "Words have cause and effect, even if the effect is wrong."

Among the several celebrities who have come to Perez's side are Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. "Speidi is never buying anything black eyed pees related!" Spencer tweeted. "Not that I did in the past but now I really won't! What a coward!"

Heidi tweeted Perez on Monday morning, asking, "Are you ok? I am praying for you!! God bless xoxo."
