Born in Scottsdale, Arizona, Tamar Kaprelian was raised in Georgia and California by Armenian parents and, she says, "surrounded by love and great music." The 22-year-old began writing songs as a child, influenced first by classic Disney films, then storied songwriters like Paul McCartney and Billy Joel. Writing primarily on the piano, Kaprelian creates playful, but thought-provoking songs that come from a personal perspective. One of her songs, "New Day," was featured in the fifth season finale of the hit MTV series "The Hills." Kaprelian's debut album is due in fall 2009.
