Feb. 11 [8:45 EST] -- Brian Connolly, who recorded the hits "Ballroom Blitz" and "Fox On The Run" as frontman for Sweet, has reportedly died of liver failure.

Connolly, who was 52, was a central figure in the 70s glam rock universe, as his band scored four top ten U.S. hits in its heyday. In his Sweet days, the singer was well known for his hard partying lifestyle, and spent a good deal of playtime with late Who drummer Keith Moon (who himself died in 1978).

The band's hit "Ballroom Blitz" has been covered by a number of acts over the years, and their classic "Fox On The Run" was recently featured on the "Dazed and Confused" soundtrack.
