Gwen Stefani Donates $1 Million To Japanese Earthquake Relief

Following in the footsteps of Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, Gwen Stefani has pledged to donate $1 million to earthquake-relief efforts in Japan.

The No Doubt singer and solo star announced on Wednesday that she had written a major check to Save the Children's Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund to help with recovery efforts in the devastated nation.

"I've been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture," Stefani said in a statement posted on the No Doubt website. "The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking, and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years."

Stefani, who also is a clothing designer, is asking her fans to get in on the action as well, by pledging to unveil a limited-edition Harajuku Lovers T-shirt from her L.A.M.B. clothing line on No Doubt's website, with all proceeds from sales going to help the relief efforts.

In addition, a charity auction will be announced next week that will offer the chance to join Stefani at a special fundraiser in Los Angeles. She also encouraged her fans to donate directly to Save the Children if they want to get involved.

Internet sensation Rebecca Black, who announced on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday that she's giving proceeds from her "Friday" single to Japan relief, also is donating profits from the sales of an "It's Friday" T-shirt to the American Red Cross' efforts in the stricken country.

Other artists who've stepped up to aid the people of Japan include Hanson, Ne-Yo, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.

Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige To Hit Fashion's Night Out

A bevy of celebs are slated to light up Fashion's Night Out in New York City on Friday (September 10). For the second consecutive year, stores around the city will stay open for extended hours offering drinks, DJ sets and discounts to promote the retail industry in an elaborate effort coordinated by the style bigwigs at Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America among other organizations.

Retailers are also bringing in big names to hawk their products and dazzle the crowds. Macy's in Herald Square has arranged an all-star lineup that includes an appearance from Diddy, who will cruise the city in a Fashion's Night Out party bus and finish things off with an afterparty at the Fifth Avenue Sean John flagship with DJs Prostyle and Envy in tow. Also slated to hit the department giant are designer Kimora Lee Simmons and Jennifer Lopez, who is promoting her fragrance Love and Glamour. Fashion-forward celebs Mary J. Blige, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham will hold court at the tony Fifth Avenue establishment Bergdorf Goodman. Meanwhile, child-stars-turned-fashion-moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will appear at Barneys New York.

Musicians who keep a well-styled foot in the fashion world are also at the helm of several of the night's festivities. Superproducer Pharrell Williams will be on hand for an event at the downtown outpost of his Billionaire Boys Club brand, where a (not-so) surprise show will kick off the event in the early evening. Designer and songstress Gwen Stefani will reportedly show up at a Broadway Sephora location.

Other stars lending their celebrity to the evening's events include "Sin City" star Rosario Dawson, who will host a cocktail party for the Italian luxury brand Bottega Venetta, and tennis champ Serena Williams who will appear at Best Buy.

Supermodel Bar Rafaeli, M.I.A. protégé Rye Rye, "Jersey Shore" star Vinny and fashion pundits Simon Doonan and Robert Verdi are all scheduled to pop up at in-store shindigs around the city.

Style-hungry patrons who can't make it to NYC will be able to experience some of the evening's show-stopping glitz when a Fashion's Night Out specials airs on CBS on September 14.

NEW YORK — Gwen Stefani has always been known for her impeccably edgy but girly style. And the latest collection for her L.A.M.B. line is no different than the woman behind it. The No Doubt frontwoman debuted her spring 2010 collection for the brand at New York fashion week, and for all you rocker fashionistas out there, there's definitely something for you.

Platforms, studs, skinny pants, plaid and acid-wash peppered Stefani's collection, which is an ode not only to the '90s, when her band first hit it big, but also to the rockers from the '80s who so heavily influenced her band's sound. Reflecting the downtown feel of the clothes themselves, the show took place not in the Bryant Park tents, but at fashion week's alternate location downtown at the MAC at Milk Studios.

In addition to those touches, the collection also included harem pants, asymmetrical cuts and bodysuits. "I never thought it would turn out this good," Stefani told USA Today. "I'm really spoiled. These jeans are as good as anything I have."

She went on to describe the clothes as "casual, easy and accessible," reports Fashion Wire Daily. "They're clothes that people want to wear every day."

The line will be moderately priced, with most items ranging from $48 to $345. And now, with the collection behind her, she has time to focus on her other priorities: being a mom, turning 40 and getting back to work with No Doubt. Speaking of her family, her husband, fellow rocker Gavin Rossdale, as well as her two sons, Zuma and Kingston, were on hand to cheer her on.

Gwen Stefani Admits There's 'A Little Bit' Of Tension In No Doubt

'My priorities are always going to be my husband and my family now,' singer tells Elle of her new outlook.

When No Doubt emerged on the scene in the '90s, the buzz was that the guys — Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont — resented their sexy and sassy lead singer, Gwen Stefani, for getting all the attention in the group. They addressed the issues in their video for "Don't Speak."

Nearly 15 years later, Stefani admitted that those old tensions might still exist in the reunited band.

"Everybody's making it like there's all this new tension, you know, like I stepped away from the band and now they're jealous of me," Stefani said in the July issue of Elle, featuring other women in music like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. "And look, maybe there is a little bit of that."

Although she's ready to get back to work with the band, she didn't mind playing the Britney Spears-like pop star for a while on her two solo discs. "I just did the circuit. You write with all the same people Christina Aguilera writes with," she said. "And the music's very programmed and done in this very patchwork way. But it was so fun. I felt like I was playing a character."

Stefani said her priorities have changed drastically since No Doubt released their last studio album, Rock Steady, in 2001. "I wasn't even married. Now, I'm a wife and a mother of two. It's a really different role," she said. "I always referred to No Doubt as a marriage, because that's what it's like to be together for so long and go through what we've been through."

Even with two kids and a rock-star husband, Gavin Rossdale, No Doubt are still important to her, but they're no longer her whole life. "I can't really have that relationship with them anymore," she explained. "My priorities are always going to be my husband and my family now. That's a huge, huge thing."

That doesn't mean she's quitting the biz to pursue family life full time. She's just waiting for inspiration to settle in. "I just feel very in between at the moment," she said about songwriting. "Like in my cocoon waiting to blossom. ... I'm so screwed. I might never be able to write another song. ... I want so badly to write a record. I want to make every other songwriter jealous. But it's just not happening right now."

No Doubt To Perform On 'Gossip Girl' In May

Reunited band will play Adam & the Ants song 'Stand and Deliver.'

Will Gwen Stefani upstage Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl"? Don't get too exited just yet, "GG" fans — the face-off won't occur until the show's finale on May 11.

No Doubt will appear on "Gossip Girl," according to the band's Web site, and will continue their '80s fetish by performing the 1981 Adam & the Ants hit "Stand and Deliver." (The band covered Talk Talk's 1984 hit "It's My Life" for its greatest-hits album, released in 2003.)

No Doubt will be the first major artist to perform on the show, although the castmembers have had their lives play out to the backing accompaniment of everyone from Kings of Leon and the Dandy Warhols to Will.I.Am.

The show will air just days after No Doubt launches their first tour since 2004 on May 3, for which dates were announced earlier this week. The trek — which features openers Paramore, as well as the Sounds, Janelle Monae and Bedouin Soundclash on select dates — begins at the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and also features an appearance at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, for Tiger Woods' annual Tiger Jam charity event. After No Doubt work off the rust that comes with a four-year hiatus, they'll kick into high gear on May 19 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

All in all, the tour will make 44 stops across North America before wrapping on August 1 in No Doubt's Orange County, California, home turf.

Timbaland Responds To False Shock Value 2 Reports

In a curious turn of events, someone has been spreading false information about MTV and Timbaland.

Responding to multiple erroneous online reports about his forthcoming Shock Value 2 album — which claimed that Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, Usher and others will appear on the album, and which were incorrectly attributed to MTV.com — Timbaland got on the phone with us to set the record straight on Tuesday afternoon (January 6).

"It's funny," Timbo said about the surprisingly detailed report, which claimed it was based on an advance preview of five tracks from the album. "I'm surprised people are watching me like that. I am recording the album, but I don't know none of them joints, none of them songs. That's just bogus."

As for an official track listing, the production wizard was mum — and he didn't confirm or deny whether any of the artists listed in the report will appear on the album. He did speak generally about the album's direction, however.

"I'm just revamping. I'm not even at a stage to say where I'm at. I'm not at a beginning, I'm not at a middle. I'm just zoning out trying to find a new sound I wanna attack, and I think I got it. It's something you never heard, something I never tried.

"It might be something you might have heard, I don't know," Timbaland added. "I'm trying to figure it out myself. I'm just having a bunch of fun right now. I don't wanna go too left, but I wanna give them something different."

Tim did say the album is coming in 2009.

During his last MTV News interview, Timbaland said he didn't want to use artists that were featured on the first Shock Value for its sequel. However, he did hint that he may have changed his mind while recording the new album.

"As you see, it's not a lot of artists out here," he said. "I'm going back to whoever fits the song. If this person fits the song, I'mma use him. I gotta do what my gut feeling is telling me to do."

The Virginia native refused to reveal any guests, but did say to look for one or two records where it is just him performing by himself.

Fall Out Boy, No Doubt Confirmed For 2009 Bamboozle Festival

Over the weekend, the Gwen Stefani-led No Doubt revealed that, after a long hiatus, they've reunited, with plans for a full-scale tour next year and a new studio album somewhere down the line. Now, the kind folks at Bamboozle have confirmed the band's first official reunion gig: May 3 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The annual punk-rock concert's organizers have also confirmed that Fall Out Boy will be headlining the festival's first night on May 2.

More bands are expected to be added to the Bamboozle bill in the coming weeks. Unsubstantiated rumors suggest the festival's organizers are trying to secure R&B throwbacks Boyz II Men for a special performance, which would sound somewhat odd, if rapper Snoop Dogg hadn't headlined last year's event.

The 2008 Bamboozle featured more than 40 acts, including Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Cute Is What We Aim For, the Academy Is ..., Coheed and Cambria, Cobra Starship, Metro Station and Straylight Run.

Multiple-day passes are already on sale over at Bamboozle's official Web site, with single-day tickets scheduled to go on sale this Friday.

It's likely No Doubt will be previewing new music for fans when they take the Bamboozle stage in May. Guitarist Tom Dumont, in a posting to the band's site, suggested they could write and record new tunes while on the road, in an attempt to finish their first studio album since 2001's Rock Steady.

Quite simply, "it's time for some rock and roll." That what No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal wrote on the band's official Web site about the group finally getting back together after several years apart while singer Gwen Stefani released a pair of solo albums and became a mother.

"We need to play, it's been too long," Kanal wrote. The group announced that they plan to end their long hiatus by going on tour next year. "I don't think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies," Stefani wrote on the site during a chat Friday night. "So fun! Would be so inspiring to get out there and play all those songs again." No cities or dates have been announced yet, but sources told People.com that the outing will likely kick off next summer.

Stefani added that "if we go on tour, it will inspire us to write. I need to see the fans out there." The playful chat began with the group trying to figure out when they should convene in the studio, with Kanal suggesting 3 p.m. and guitarist Tom Dumont complaining that he wanted to meet later because he was out late at a show the night before. Stefani answered that her son Kingston, was up at 4 a.m., so she too was worn out. Drummer Adrian Young said he was "nursing a hangover," but Dumont admitted, "I have cabin fever, maybe we should play shows or something."

Young said he loved the idea of going on the road again, and Dumont suggested the group could write and record new tunes while on the road, in an attempt to finish their first new album since 2001's Rock Steady. "Yeah, totally, I think playing some shows will make the studio time even better. Playing shows, writing songs, kicking ass, ND 2009," Kanal wrote.

For almost 25 years now, there's been no better place for the famous to "Step and Repeat" than the MTV Video Music Awards — and they've rarely disappointed, whether their finery is triumphant or tragic.

We're sure to see plenty of both at this year's VMAs — which take place on Sunday, September 7. But we took a look back with the help of Tim Gunn, Tyson Beckford, Lauren Conrad and others, at some of the best and, er, less best moments on "Step & Repeat: The Best & Worst of VMA Fashion." Hang on tight! Here's who we think holds it down when they hit that carpet ...

At #10 is "Transformers" megawatt hottie Megan Fox, who sure lived up to her last name when she showed up in a hot-pink mini bandeau dress by Harve Leger at the 2007 VMAs in Las Vegas. In fact, we'd even bet that this appearance played no small role in taking Ms. Fox from action-movie eye candy to red-carpet starlet.

Outkast may be at #9, but they've proved time and time again that they know how to stand out in the crowd — especially with Andre at the helm of this fashion ship. From his orange overalls in 2003 to his classy pink and green golfer combination in 2001, he and Big Boi turn it out for every carpet under the sun. As Big Boi himself said, "We coolin'!"

RuPaul, who comes in at #8, worked it hard in 1993, proving that stunning style can come in very large packages. In a sequined, black, floor-length Pamela Dennis gown, the nearly 7-foot-tall drag queen brought some old-Hollywood glamour to the ceremony. She was quick to point out that despite the fabulous exterior, "Underneath it all, I'm just a simple girl!"

Seven is a lucky number for Justin Timberlake, who hit the 2006 VMAs in New York in a snappy three-piece suit, showing the world that the man wasn't just singing about bringing sexy back.

Coming in at #6 is 50 Cent, who surprised everyone in 2003 by looking more gangster than gangsta in a pinstripe suit. Nuzzling in at #5 is Jessica Simpson, who makes the grade for her white-hot Miami-heat dress and short, windblown tresses in 2004. Kanye West, who went for classic glamour in a tuxedo in 2007, slides in with style at #4.

Never one to shy away from taking a risk, Rihanna rocked the carpet last year in a hot-pink, low-cut bodice gown that finds her sashaying into our #3 spot.

At #2 is the Bad Boy himself, Diddy, who made a grand entrance and looked hot doing it in 2004 in Miami. He said, "You know we gotta make a grand entrance" — and he certainly did that, disembarking from a giant yacht in a white tuxedo (with Bruce Willis rather inexplicably in tow).

And shining at #1 is the queen of style herself — and the newly minted mother of two — Gwen Stefani, who has transformed herself from SoCal ska siren to full-on pop goddess. This hot momma has described getting ready for these events as being "so exciting, still!" But really how can anyone doubt the woman who started the hip L.A.M.B. line and has said, "It's like playing Barbie, but with giant, huge, full-grown models!"

OK, those were the triumphs. And now, the moment we know you've all really been waiting for: the non-triumphs ...

At #10, Chris Brown went for McDonald's chic in 2006, wearing what appeared to be a uniform for the hamburger chain. On the carpet he said, "You know, I'mma let 'em have that right quick, right?" Maybe he meant fries?

In at #9 is Paris Hilton, who decided that rocker chicken would be a hot look for the 2006 VMAs. It had too much of everything: too much fluff, too much black, too much white — and she even rocked ankle boots and gloves. Eighties prom queen, anyone?

A love triangle (har har!) of questionable fashion choices comes up next. At #8 is Kid Rock, whose fringed cowboy style left many stylists singing the blues. He is followed by 2007 sparring partner Tommy Lee, whose flasher getup in 1999 earns him the #7 spot. It's always more appropriate to wear clothes under your trench coat, Tommy.

But it's their shared former flame Pamela Anderson (in at #6) who tops off this unholy trinity with her 1998 getup, especially her peculiar accessory: a top hat that puts both of those guys' looks to shame. She said the look was "so off the hook," but really the look was more, well, off.

Former "House of Style" host Rebecca Romijn comes in at #5 with her animalistic 1998 outfit: a hairy black gown that screamed "Mortia" more than style icon. "It's horse hair," she said. "Somewhere there's a bald horse running around in a field." All we have to say is, it looked better on the horse.

In 1997, our #4 choice Busta Rhymes opted for a Far East superhero look, and then topped himself two years later with what can only be described as a yellow halter onesie.

At #3 is reformed fashion offender Christina Aguilera, who in 2003 was nearing the end of her bad-girl phase — but that pink Cavalli dress she wore that year still leaves a bad taste. "I just loved the pink off-setting the black," Christina said — too bad nobody else did.

Lil Mama probably had a case of the terrible twos before getting ready for last year's VMAs — which makes her a fitting #2 on our countdown. The rapper showed up in one of the most bizarre outfits ever to hit the red carpet: She was dressed like a baby, pacifier and all.

And finally, is anyone who remembers her 1999 getup surprised to see that Lil' Kim tops our list? Let's just say that the rest of her shirt wasn't the only thing missing from that outfit. Kim said she "just wanted to do something that would say, 'Look at her!' " She accomplished that many times over.

Will these looks be topped at the 2008 VMAs? Bet on it — and tune in to find out on September 7!

Gwen Stefani Gives Birth To Second Son

Kingston's new brother is named Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.

Singer Gwen StefaniGwen Stefani and her husband, Gavin RossdaleGavin Rossdale, welcomed their second son on Thursday (August 21), according to a statement from Stefani's label, Interscope Records. The child, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, was born at 12:46 p.m. PT and weighed eight and a half pounds.

"Mother, baby and family are all happy and healthy," the statement read.

Zuma is the couple's second son, joining Kingston, who turned 2 on May 26.

The birth of her second child crests an already busy year for Stefani, who earlier this summer told fans that she was getting back together with No Doubt to record their first studio album in seven years.

At the time of the announcement, Stefani said she was working throughout her pregnancy.

"Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!!" she wrote on the message boards of her band's Web site. "We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house, trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys every day and hanging out. We have so much fun together. The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part. ... I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly, but I'm sure it is all of the process, and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far. Can't wait to see what happens."

It is unknown whether the birth of her second child will delay the album, which had been pegged for an early 2009 release.

It's also unclear how the 38-year-old Stefani and 40-year-old Rossdale settled on the name Zuma, although it's worth nothing that there's a Malibu, California, beach called Zuma not far from the couple's Los Angeles home. Neil Young named one of his albums Zuma in honor of the same beach. Zuma is also a popular surname in South Africa. Also, the baby shares one of his middle names, Nesta, with Bob MarleyBob Marley.
