May 22 [16:00 EDT] -- One day after the band won a copyright lawsuit against Miller Brewing Company, the Spin Doctors have reportedly accepted a settlement from the beer maker.

The Associated Press reports that on Wednesday, the very day a federal jury was to determine damages in the case, the band accepted a settlement offer from Miller.

On Tuesday, that same jury reportedly found that Miller and Leap Partnership had used a song "substantially similar" to the band's 1992 hit "Two Princes" in a spot for Miller Lite Ice beer without paying the group.

While details of the settlement were not released, members of the band reportedly grinned widely and shook hands after seeing the final figure. The band had planned to request an $11.5 million settlement from the jury.

The "Los Angeles Times" reports that the Spin Doctors won their copyright infringement lawsuit against the Miller Brewing Company. A federal jury reportedly found that the music Miller used in a spot for Miller Lite Ice was "substantially similar" to the band's 1992 breakthrough hit "Two Princes."

The "Times" reports that the case enters the damages phase on Wednesday, with the Spin Doctors seeking $11.5 million from Miller.

The band filed suit against Miller after seeing the Miller spot in 1995.

May 19 [7:55 EST] -- The Spin Doctors have reportedly wrapped up their case against Miller Brewing Company, arguing that the beer company used the band's 1992 hit "Two Princes" in spots for Miller Lite Ice Beer.

The Associated Press reports that the band's lawyer, Joseph Schleimer, concluded his arguments in federal court on Friday saying, "They wanted the Spin Doctors without paying the million of dollars it would take to get the real thing."

Miller reportedly maintains that the company used one of 15 common compositions submitted by Trivers/Meyers Music to be used in assorted Miller ads.

The band filed suit against Miller in 1995 for copyright infringement, and is reportedly seeking $25 million in damages as well as an injunction to keep the brewery from using the music again.

The Associated Press reports that the band claims Miller used their 1992 hit "Two Princes" in television ads for Miller Lite Ice Beer without gaining the band's permission. The group is now reportedly seeking $25 million from the brewery, and an injunction that would prohibit future uses of the song.

In its defense, Miller claims that the music in the commercial is a common composition, and not the Spin Doctors' tune.

After forming in 1988, the Spin Doctors broke through with 1991's "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" album. Their success was fueled by "Two Princes" (the centerpiece of the lawsuit) and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong."
