Spandau Ballet songwriter and guitarist Gary Kemp won't have to share any of the "gold" he made off of the royalties from the '80s band's catalogue, according to a ruling last week by the British High Court in London.

In dismissing the case, a justice on the High Court ruled that the action brought by three former members of Spandau Ballet against Kemp was "unconscionable," according to a report from the Associated Press.

As we previously reported (see "Spandau Ballet, Oasis Fighting Internal Lawsuits") former singer Tony Hadley, drummer John Keeble, and saxophonist Steve Norman had been seeking a portion of the money made from the band's albums and singles, claiming they had an oral agreement with Kemp to share the royalties.

Spandau Ballet disbanded in 1989, with Gary Kemp and his brother, Martin Kemp, branching out into films and eventually landing the leads in the gangster flick, "The Krays." Martin did not take part in the legal action filed by the three jilted Ballet-ers.

Gary Kemp has also been seen in such movies as "The Bodyguard" and "Killing Zoe."

Eighties 'new wave' veterans Spandau Ballet are back in the spotlight nearly ten years after breaking up, thanks to a band squabble that has hit the British courts. Three band members, including lead singer Tony Hadley, drummer John Keeble and sax player Steve Norman, are suing songwriter/guitarist Gary Kemp for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Although the members aren't credited as co-writers, they claim they had an early agreement that guaranteed the players and the band's manager 1/12th each of the band's publishing royalties, leaving Kemp with 7/12ths. Kemp's brother Martin, the band's bassist, is not taking part in the suit.

Both of the Kemp brothers have gone on to successful film and TV careers. Gary starred as Whitney Houston's publicist in "The Bodyguard," while Martin has a continuing role on a popular British soap opera.

A spokesperson for Hadley tells MTV News that the case, which got underway on Wednesday, is expected to take several weeks.

The band had previously launched legal action against their record company, Chrysalis, prior to breaking up claiming that the label had failed to promote their albums. That case was settled out of court.

Another band squabble soon to hit the courts is the lawsuit launched by former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll against his former bandmates. McCarroll is charging that his 1995 dismissal was unfair and that he's owed in the neighborhood of $16 million. He says that he was signed to a six album deal along with the rest of the band and that he still had five to go when he was cut lose. According to British press reports, that case is scheduled to be heard starting March 1.

Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp has been signed to star in a popular British soap opera, "The Eastenders," according to England's PA News. The service reports that the singer will be playing the role of a nightclub owner.

Kemp started Spandau Ballet in 1979 with his brother Gary. The band made it to the forefront of the techno pop 'new wave' scene in the early 1980s with a number of hits including "True," a top 10 U.S. single, and "Gold." After disbanding in the late '80s, the Kemp brothers both went on to launch acting careers with starring roles in "The Krays," a feature film about Britain's notorious criminal siblings. Martin also recently played a murderer on a popular TV crime show called "The Bill" and is scheduled to be playing at least a semi-bad guy in the "Eastenders."

Married to former girl group singer Shirlie from the duo Pepsi and Shirlie, Martin was in the news for a different reason three years ago when he was hospitalized for two months with a brain tumor. He fully recovered following an operation.
