Jessica Simpson sparkles on the December cover of Lucky magazine, and while she may not be dishing on becoming a mom in the issue, she does open up about planning her wedding, letting everyone know she's in no rush to walk down the aisle. "I haven't started shopping for our wedding yet," she tells the magazine. "When I got engaged, everyone thought I would get married immediately, but I have not put a single dress on, and by the time this comes out, I will not be married! Simpson and former football player Eric Johnson got engaged last year, and on Monday, she broke the news that the couple is expecting their first child together. "When I met him, I just felt so comfortable with myself and where I was in my life that if he didn't want to be part of it, he didn't have to be," she explains about her feelings on love when she and Johnson first started dating. And she says that these days, she's driven by a whole new set of ambitions — none of which has to with life as a celebrity. "I'm not looking for more fame or money," the mom-to-be adds. "I am very secure in those areas." The singer/actress/mogul also talks a bit about the chatter around her figure, saying that despite any criticism she might receive for her curves, "I like the way I look." "Everybody fluctuates, but I'm open about my weight, and I'm still confident. I didn't cry about it too much," she explains. "I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding. Because when you're really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you. All kinds of women started coming up to me and saying what an example I was setting by not constantly dieting."

Jessica Simpson had remained mum on the pregnancy rumors for as long as possible, but on Halloween, decked out in a mummy costume, the singer confirmed the news. "It's true — I'm going to be a mummy!" the pun-loving singer posted on her website, displaying for the world her baby bump while all wrapped up in mummy bandages. The link was posted in a tweet that read in all-caps: "!!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!!" The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation about the singer, who had been seen in several paparazzi shots with what appeared to be an ever-expanding baby bump. Simpson's body has always been a matter of media speculation, but this time it seems she's ending all the rumors by confirming the news and getting in the Halloween spirit. The two got engaged last November and have yet to tie the knot, and it seems that their soon-to-be-expanding family could delay wedding plans a bit longer. "I definitely see myself having a family with him, so that's exciting to think about," she told People.com about having kids with her beau, a former NFL player. Simpson — who has dated Tony Romo (also expecting his first child with wife Candice) and John Mayer — was previously married to Nick Lachey. The two famously shared their life as a married couple on the MTV show "Newlyweds" before divorcing in 2005. Lachey recently became a newlywed himself earlier this year when he married longtime love Vanessa Minnillo. When news broke last year of Simpson's engagement, Lachey had only the nicest words for his ex-wife: "I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best." Simpson and Johnson's baby will be the second grandchild in the Simpson family: Bronx, sister Ashlee and Pete Wentz's baby boy, will have a cousin in the very-near future. Last week, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz shocked fans when they announced that they were divorcing. While the couple had been plagued by marital woes for a good chunk of their nearly three years as a couple, they put on a brave face publicly. According to an In Touch source, Simpson sought comfort in her family, specifically older sister Jessica, when she and her rocker husband were on the rocks. "Leaving Pete was tough for Ashlee and she needed to be with her family," the source said. "Jessica told her she and Bronx were welcome to stay with them until she was ready to find a place of her own." Simpson has been staying with Jessica and her fiancé, Eric Johnson, during the difficult time. Ashlee and Pete's son, Bronx, has also been with her. "There have been a lot of family dinners and lots of praying," the source further explained. "Ashlee couldn't have asked for better support." The couple wed in May 2008 and had their son in November of that same year. Both Wentz and Simpson have remained under the radar since they revealed that they were separating last week. "After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," reads the joint statement from Simpson and Wentz announcing their split. "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son, Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."

Jessica Simpson may be less active on the music scene these days, but the singer has been quietly building a fashion empire. Women's Wear Daily reports that Simpson is the face and boss of a nearly $1 billion business. According to the report, Simpson's lines — which include shoes, accessories, denim, swimwear, watches and fragrances — have seen a combined gross of $750 million in retail sales this year. So, what's the secret to her success? "People like her," Vince Camuto, founder and CEO of Camuto Group, the main licensee of her merchandise, said of the recently engaged star. "People look at her as a style icon." And Simpson shows no signs of slowing down. For fall 2011, the singer is launching a contemporary sportswear line that will include separates and dresses in the $39 to $129 price range; it will be available in more than 650 stores in the U.S. and Canada. The singer explained, "This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun." While Simpson hasn't announced any plans to start designing bridal gowns, she's currently planning her wedding to ex-football player Eric Johnson. "We have not started planning," Simpson said recently. "I'm trying to get through all this promotion [for my Christmas album]. ... Who knows what will happen?" Describing the upcoming ceremony as "simple," Simpson added that she wanted to be married by Christmas 2011. "I personally have no idea. I have not set a date and I can't even think about putting together, like, table settings and all that," she said. First she sent her well-wishes to Nick Lachey on his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo, and now Lachey is returning the favor by sending his love to his newly engaged ex-wife, Jessica Simpson. "I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best," he told UsMagazine.com about Simpson's engagement to football player Eric Johnson. As for his own engagement, Lachey is still adjusting to it.

He explained that he's "still basking in the glow" of his plans to marry the former MTV VJ and "enjoying that. I'm sure we'll get on the other planning shortly. We are now just enjoying this experience." He added that it's "very exciting" to see "what the future brings to us." Asked why it took him so many years to ask Minnillo to marry him, he said, "All things have their appropriate time, so thank you." Jessica married fellow pop star Lachey in October 2002. The pair documented their marriage on their hit MTV series, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." But their sweet kisses turned sour when Simpson and Lachey split in 2005; their divorce was finalized the following year. Since then, Simpson had been linked to John Mayer, Tony Romo and Billy Corgan before meeting Johnson. Jessica's dad, Joe Simpson, expressed his own elation when he took to Twitter to congratulate her. "So very happy for Jess and Eric," he wrote on Sunday night. Jessica Simpson is no doubt celebrating her engagement to former NFL player Eric Johnson, which was announced over the weekend (and prompted her dad, Joe, to tweet his congrats to his superstar daughter). But the singer has had her share of love-life ups and downs, and her story certainly doesn't start with Johnson. Jessica married fellow pop star Nick Lachey in October 2002. The pair documented their marriage on their hit MTV series, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." But their sweet kisses turned sour when Simpson and Lachey split in 2005; in 2006, their divorce was finalized.

The same year his marriage formally ended, Lachey began dating Vanessa Minnillo. He proposed to the former MTV "TRL" host less than two weeks ago. For her part, Simpson became romantically linked in 2006 to yet another pop star: John Mayer. The blond star famously dyed her locks brown when she began dating the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer. The pair had an on-again, off-again relationship that lasted nearly a year. The exes later made headlines when, as Simpson was promoting her VH1 show, "The Price of Beauty," Mayer called her "sexual napalm" in an interview. (Jess laughed it all off.) Before she met ex-footballer Johnson, Simpson dated Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo. The pair hooked up in late 2007 and carried on a very public romance until their split in July 2009. She discussed a potential breakup with Romo in an issue of Glamour that hit newsstands the month after they split. "If this article comes out and we're not together, I'd still love him, and he'd still be a huge part of who I am today," Simpson said, adding that breakups feel like "a death in the family." Simpson turned heads in spring 2010 when she was spotted with the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, who worked on a song with her. Simpson never confirmed the two were dating, but their public appearances together left fans wondering if there was something romantic going on. "To be able to sit with Billy [is a learning experience], and I always feel comfortable with him 'cause he is a close friend of mine," she told MTV News. "And I know he had my best interest at heart and it was great to be able to collaborate with him and to have him there in the studio." After Corgan, Simpson began going public with Johnson, traveling the globe with the ex-football player and celebrating her birthday with him abroad. In that same Glamour article, Simpson commented on whether she'd marry again, saying, "It was hard to imagine I would ever walk down the aisle again [after I divorced Nick]." And though we hope he congratulated her in person first, Joe Simpson also shared his happiness for his daughter on Twitter. "So very happy for Jess and Eric," he wrote on Sunday night. Former "Newlyweds" stars, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, are heading back down the aisle — although not with each other. About a week after Simpson's ex-husband announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend and former MTV "TRL" host Vanessa Minnillo, the singer and mogul's rep confirmed Sunday (November 14) that she is slated to swap vows with her boyfriend, Eric Johnson.

"Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!" her rep told People. Simpson and Johnson, a football player, have been dating since May. The star recently shared her upcoming Thanksgiving plans and revealed she and her athlete fiancé would spend the holiday together. "We're all gonna be in New York," she told People last month. "I'm gonna be on a [Macy's parade] float. It's not always the best way to spend a Thanksgiving, but it's a great way to celebrate. So, maybe I'll just have all families on the float." Although rumors have cropped up suggesting Simpson is heartbroken her former hubby is set to tie the knot with Minnillo, the entertainer recently shot down reports that she had issues with Lachey's engagement. "I don't know where all those rumors came from," Simpson told Ryan Seacrest on Thursday. "My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' The news of Nick Lachey and former MTV "TRL" host Vanessa Minnillo's engagement wasn't exactly a big surprise, given that the couple have been together since 2006. What did come as a bit of an oddity was a report that Lachey's ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, was "deeply saddened" about the news. "Even though Jessica wants to be happy for Nick, this is a very difficult time for her," a "friend" of Simpson's told Popeater's Rob Shuter. "Nick was the love of her life then, man, and he was her first, so she will always have a very special place in her heart for him. She's deeply saddened." According to Simpson, however, that report couldn't be further from the truth. "I don't know where all those rumors came from," Simpson told Ryan Seacrest when she called into his radio show Thursday (November 11). "My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick." Simpson, who has been dating former NFL player Eric Johnson since May, added that she and Lachey are in a really good place these days, and she wishes people would move past the relationship, as she and Lachey both have. "Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa," she said. With Ellen DeGeneres no longer on "American Idol" and the fate of Kara DioGuardi still up in the air, at this point no one knows what the show's judges' table will look like next season. And one gossip blogger thinks the show needs to scuttle confusion quickly.

"So, the question is not who's gonna replace Simon Cowell, the question now is who's gonna replace Ellen DeGeneres?" Perez Hilton said to MTV News. "'American idol' [is] in quite a predicament." Rumors have been swirling that Jennifer Lopez might join the judges' table for the show's 10th season, but Perez is making the case for another candidate. "At least Jessica Simpson could have been insightful and funny," he explained. "I love J.Lo, but she's a diva. There's nothing warm about her, where I think Jessica could bring warmth and insight and humor." So, why Simpson? "She's still been very visible and Jennifer has tried to be visible but she's kind of been away for a while," he argued. "[Simpson] has been around for a long time and has that experience, plus America loves to watch her on television. Does America love watching Jennifer Lopez on TV? I don't know. I don't think so." Or course, if Idol judges came calling to Perez himself, he wouldn't turn down the gig. "Obviously I think I'd be great in that role," he said.
