Shwayze Stages 'Hot, Sweaty, Sexy Dance Party' For 'Get U Home' Video

Don't say Shwayze and Cisco Adler aren't addressing the pressing issues of the day. Some public figures take on health care reform, the shaky economy, the war on terror. Shwayze and Adler, with their single "Get U Home," are addressing a thorny situation they seem to be saying often afflicts them.

"The song was pretty much a party song," Shwayze told MTV News, "and it really pinpoints and describes how a man feels when he's at the club a little intoxicated, sees a pretty girl, but home is far away, or maybe you don't have enough money to get a hotel."

The single appears on the soundtrack for the horror movie "Sorority Row," so the video plays off the idea of a wild college party that turns into a death trap for its unsuspecting participants. Shwayze and Adler have been hired to play at a sorority, but girls keep disappearing as a cloaked figure hovers in the background. Those girls include "Row" stars Leah Pipes, Rumer Willis, Briana Evigan, Caroline D'Amore and Margo Harshman.

Coming out on Friday, the video takes place in a hundred-year-old house and veers from live-music bash to an all-girl dance party to a hoedown in an attic without the benefit of air-conditioning.

"We were partying it up and it was kinda hot," Willis said.

"Hot, sweaty, sexy dance party!" Harshman added.

And what do Shwayze and Adler think a guy should do if he finds himself in such a situation and can't quite procure a bed or rent a room?

"You can't wait!" Adler said. "So go to the bathroom!"

Jonas Brothers Deny Staind A Fourth Straight Chart-Topping Debut

StaindStaind's Aaron Lewis and Mike Mushok called it last week. They knew that their latest LP, The Illusion of Progress, wouldn't be opening at #1 on next week's Billboard albums sales chart, thanks to three lads from Wyckoff, New Jersey.

The potential was there to make it four straight #1 openers, following the chart-topping success of 2001's Break the Cycle (which debuted with 716,000 sold), 2003's 14 Shades of Grey (221,000) and 2005's Chapter V (184,000). But the Jonas BrothersJonas Brothers — whom Lewis called "Hanson 2008" — are just too imposing a force at the moment. Despite a 72 percent plunge in retail interest, the Jonases still managed to outsell the Massachusetts rockers, scanning another 146,700 copies of their latest, A Little Bit Longer, which holds for a second-straight week at #1.

Unfortunately for Staind, The Illusion of Progress clocked in at around 91,800 units, which is not only the band's poorest-performing debut, but wasn't even enough to earn them the chart's #2 slot. Instead, Staind's latest opens at #3, behind Kid RockKid Rock's Rock N Roll Jesus, which sits at #2 with 100,900 sold, according to the latest sales figures released by Nielsen SoundScan.

Otherwise, it's a strong week for new releases, with 31 others bowing on next week's top 200. Following the "Mamma Mia!""Mamma Mia!" soundtrack, which falls two spots to #4 with 87,500 sold, is Ice CubeIce Cube's latest, Raw Footage, which scanned 69,800 units during its first week in stores. Only one other new release cracks the chart's top 10, and that honor belongs to Shwayze, whose self-titled debut sold 46,600 copies to enter the chart at #10.

The soundtrack to "Cheetah Girls: One World""Cheetah Girls: One World" enters next week's chart at #13 with sales reported at 34,300, while the Academy Is...the Academy Is... bows at #17 with their latest, Fast Times at Barrington High, selling 22,500 units. Black Stone CherryBlack Stone Cherry's Folklore and Superstition enters at #28 with 13,600 scans, and Family Force 5's Dance or Die follows just two spots down at #30 with week-one sales of 13,000.

Wu-Tang ClanWu-Tang Clan constituent GZAGZA's Pro Tools opens at #52, having sold 9,000 copies, with Karina's First Love following closely at #57, with sales of 8,900. The ToadiesThe Toadies return at #59 with No Deliverance, which scanned 8,600, while Gaslight Anthem's 59 Sound enters the chart at #70 with 7,400 sold. The WalkmenThe Walkmen's You & Me follows at #71, selling 7,300 copies, and Amy MacdonaldAmy Macdonald's This Is the Life opens at #92 with 6,000 scans.

Debuting at #98 with 5,800 sold, it's Donavon FrankenreiterDonavon Frankenreiter's Pass It Around, while the Acacia StrainAcacia Strain's Continent enters at #107, with 5,500-plus copies snatched up. Ra Ra Riot's Rhumb Line bows at #109, selling just under 5,500 copies, and the Dandy WarholsDandy Warhols' new one, Earth to the Dandy Warhols, follows at #128, with first-week sales reported at 4,900. The Goo Goo DollsGoo Goo Dolls' Vol. 2 claims the #157 slot, on the strength of 4,200 sold, while the Human AbstractHuman Abstract's Midheaven follows at #163 with 4,100 scans. StereolabStereolab's Chemical Chords enters the chart at #169 with 4,000 sold, while Dance Gavin Dance's self-titled offering opens at #171 with 3,800 scans.

The remainder of next week's top 10 contains a number of this year's most consistent sellers. Miley CyrusMiley Cyrus' Breakout slides two spots to #6 with 61,600 sold, while Lil WayneLil Wayne's Tha Carter III drops one spot to #7, selling another 56,800. SugarlandSugarland's Love on the Inside follows at #8 with 56,300 scans, and lastly, coming in at #9 with 47,200 sold, is the "Camp Rock""Camp Rock" soundtrack — which, coincidentally, includes a number of tracks by the Jonas Brothers.

Shwayze's Lazy Days Inspired By Malibu Party-Hopping With Cisco Adler: 'It's Like Summer In A Bottle'

From afar, Malibu, California, seems like a mystical place, a sun-splashed, paparazzi-cluttered playground for the rich and famous. And while Malibu is just that for some, real people live there too — hardworking Americans who are just trying to keep the lights on and food on the table. For much of his life, Aaron Smith, the self-professed "only black kid in Malibu" who goes by the stage name Shwayze, has been the latter, hailing from the city's Point Dume Club mobile-home park, where he lived with his grandparents.

But these days he's crashing on Cisco Adler's couch, and while he doesn't have his own Wikipedia page yet, all of that may soon change for backpack hip-hopper Shwayze. With a single ("Buzzin' ") that's generating radio spins nationwide, a video that's something of a rotation staple for "TRL," a stint on this summer's Warped Tour and a reality-TV series coming this summer from MTV, Shwayze's making the transition from nobody to hitmaker.

Considered a protégé of Adler (that Jonathan Davis-esque dude who's dated Mischa Barton and Lauren Conrad), Shwayze is set to release his debut album on July 15. Produced by Adler — who played most of the album's instruments, save for a guitar solo contributed by Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro on the song "Flashlight" — in his home studio, Lazy Days blends the artist's earliest rock influences with the rap and hip-hop ones that would come as he matured. The album was all but in the bag by the time Shwayze was signed to Jordan Schur's Suretone Records.

"I think it's really cool," Shwayze told MTV News recently of his music, which has been compared to Sublime. "It's like summer in a bottle. It's music that's indicative of this area — it's sunny, laid-back, summertime music, and it's something different than what's on the radio now. We made the record last summer, and it was sort of the blueprint of what we were doing. It had an 'Endless Summer' vibe to it."

The inspiration for the tunes, he confessed, came from the time he's spent party-hopping with Adler in the 'Bu, so most of the songs are about meeting girls, having fun and ... um ... meeting girls.

"We made the record on a whim, and we made it without a record label," Shwayze said during a spirited game of "street golf" — which involves stealing rocks from people's gardens — with Adler in his old 'hood. "And I think because of that, it came out natural and organic."

"I saw him at parties, and I was like, 'Damn, that dude's got some charisma, and I think he's got some talent — let's see if we can mold that into something special,' " Adler said. "And he started hounding me: 'Let's get in the studio.' We sort of looked at each other after we made a couple of songs, and we were like, 'Damn, this is kind of good.' "

In July, Shwayze's reality series, also called "Buzzin'," will chronicle the artist's journey from the streets of Malibu to signing a record deal. "It's about us rolling around, having fun, making music and trying to break an artist," he said.
