Shapes Of Race Cars

Shapes of Race Cars is an acclaimed indie rock band based out of Silverlake, CA. The heart of SRC is best friend duo, singer/songwriter Dylan Champion and bass player Dale Zyla. The two mid-western transplants became best pals on the East side music scene and bonded over a love for everything from Iggy Pop to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their sound is an addictive alchemy of everything from vintage David Bowie, 80's pop and drum-driven garage rock. With their one-named, one-of-a-kind drummer Kaumyar, they've just dropped their sprawling new record Beauty Beat -- the follow up to their critically lauded, indie rock debut, Power.

Beauty Beat, goes beyond garage rock thump of their debut album Power to a more open, sweepingly emotive sound -- all anchored in Shapes gift for huge melodies and hooks.

Songs like the heartbreaking "Boring Villains", the mini-epic "World's End" and the hypnotically spare "Bigger Than Sin" or "Metal Ghost" deal in triumph and fragility -- grandeur and vulnerability. Here piano and strings often clear away layered distorted guitars to reveal the simple power of bass lines, beats and melodies.

Shapes still has fun with tube amp party tracks like "Get Melted!" and "The Dirty Girls" -- reminiscent of favorite tracks like "Power" and "Sound The Alarm" from their debut.
