Flanked by hype man Lil Jon and Jamaican rapper Sean Paul, Cash Money R&B pop star Jay Sean follows up his chart-topping U.S. debut single "Down," with a "block party" video for "Do You Remember."

"I love the idea of the street vibe," Sean told MTV News on the video set last month. "Having folks together, out in the street at midnight. The video is all about having fun, having a party, enjoying yourself. So, we did the whole block-party thing!"

The video was shot in Los Angeles and features cameos from fellow Cash Money/ Young Money artists, Birdman and Tyga. Of course, having the King of Crunk and the purveyor of the imperial blaze on hand only served to further kick the party vibe up a notch.

"I can hype up milk," Lil Jon bragged. "Gimme some milk, and I can hype it up. But Jay Sean is singing to these ladies right now! He's making them dance with these uptempo records! Jay Sean has his own lane right now."

The sentiment was echoed by Sean Paul, who first connected with Jay Sean in September, on the red carpet of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

"Jay Sean got a hot song and I got a hot eight bars on it," Sean Paul said. "He gave me fire, in the vein of 'Down,' so of course I had to step to it."

The video for "Do You Remember" is the second to drop from Sean's U.S. debut album, All or Nothing, which came out last week.

"Most people are fortunate enough to stay two, three years in this game. I've been in it for seven years, and I feel like now, I'm just beginning," said Sean, who was a hit in Europe for years before coming Stateside. "All the other stuff I've done and all the other places I've been around in the world, I feel like that was all for this ... this moment!"

Just before he kicked off a star-studded roster of performers at the Justin Timberlake & Friends Concert in Las Vegas last weekend, MTV News caught up with Jay Sean, who was beaming with pride. After all, not only is Sean basking in the success of his "Down" single, on Saturday night, he would share the stage with some of the biggest names in music: Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, Timbaland, Ciara and Justin Timberlake.

"I was like, 'What are you talking about? Me? I'm brand new to America,' " Sean said when asked about the lineup. "You could choose anybody and I'm from England, so this is incredible. To be up there with such amazing, Grammy Award-winning artists is an honor."

Indeed, for Sean, his success story continues to play out in fairy-tale fashion. In a matter of months he has accomplished what many in music seldom do: his single and video for "Down," featuring labelmate Lil Wayne, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart recently and its popularity continues to spread.

Sean also divulged that his official second single will be a song called "Do You Remember" and features bars from Jamaican rapper Sean Paul and crunk king Lil Jon. The feature of Sean Paul on the track is largely due to their meeting last month on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.

"On the red carpet, doing an interview," he recalled. "Sean Paul is over there and he goes, 'Yo! Yeah man, Jay Sean!' And I said, 'Hi Sean ... Paul.' This was the first time I'd ever met him. And he just said, 'Me and you need to work together.' Two days later I called him and sent him the track, and sent it back to me the same day — and he was in Jamaica."

Sean plans to shoot the video for "Do You Remember" in two weeks, and he revealed a bit of the theme to come.

"Again, this is a fun track. It's an uplifting song and I want the video to match that, so expect a universal theme."

Jay Sean's U.S. debut album, All or Nothing, is set to drop on November 24.

LAS VEGAS — When it comes to attracting big names for charity, Justin Timberlake has no trouble. Saturday night in Las Vegas saw the wide reach of JT's star power, with a diverse lineup of artists from Snoop Dogg to Taylor Swift taking part in his second annual Justin Timberlake & Friends Concert, benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. While last year's show boasted many onstage collaborations, Justin had high hopes for this year's event — which included the aforementioned Doggfather and country queen, plus Alicia Keys, TLC, Timbaland, Ciara and Jay Sean.

"There were a lot of acts this year that weren't able to get here till today, so there weren't as many collabs as I had in my brain," Timberlake told MTV News during rehearsals. "But I think that's always the case, it's kind of like [when] you do an album and you write, like, 40 songs, and then 12 of them make it. ... But still, just having everyone out and getting to see them do their set — there are a couple of things that have never been performed onstage. There's a new song from [Timbaland] tonight, from his record that we did together. I think Snoop's doing a new song from his new record. So it's kinda cool for them too, because it's like perfect test marketing."

The night saw Justin wearing many hats (including a fedora) — acting as emcee, performer and maestro. He even kept the crowd updated with the Yankees/Angels score in between sets. But the fans were there for music, and they sure got their money's worth.

Jay Sean kicked off the night's performances, accompanied by U.K. beatbox champion MC Zani. The duo took a different take on the British singer's current hit, "Down," starting off with a beatbox intro and acoustic guitar, until launching into a full version of the song with Justin's band — which served as the house band for the whole evening.

Next up was Taylor Swift, and Justin assured everyone that there would be no Kanye-style stage crashing on his watch. "Don't worry, guys, I got security on the sides, so no one can come up and ruin her set," Timberlake told the crowd.

As soon as Swift hit the opening notes of "You Belong With Me," she had the crowd on their feet. Her raucous set was full of hair tosses and hip swings, impressive for the silver dress she performed in, dripping with what looked like diamonds. Her set got even more dazzling when she strapped on a shimmery acoustic guitar for "Love Story."

Justin introduced the next artist as "one of the greatest musicians of my generation." Alicia Keys then strutted across the stage in a stunning pair of red pumps, and took a seat at her piano to belt out "Doesn't Mean Anything." After the song, Alicia addressed the crowd.

"I wanna tell you a little about myself, where I'm from," she said, launching into the hook from "Empire State of Mind" then going right into "Fallin'," which sounded even more impressive with the house band's backup singers. The Mandalay Bay Events Center could barely contain the energy.

For the next performance, JT told the crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, asses up, give it up for the one and only, legendary T-L-C!" Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas' first performance in six years sent the crowd into a frenzy, as the duo tore through a barrage of hits — "FanMail," "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg," "What About Your Friends," "Baby Baby Baby," "Creep," "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs." While founding member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes is no longer with us, her presence was still in the room as her vocals were filled in by live performance footage on the screen.

The next performance brought the night's first on-stage collaboration. After Justin got the crowd moving to "Señorita," he welcomed Ciara onstage for "Love Sex Magic." The crowd stayed on their feet for the rest of Ciara's set — "Goodies" and "1, 2 Step."

Next up was Snoop Dogg, who performed "Drop It Like It's Hot," "What's My Name" and new single "Gangsta Love." Continuing the night's collaborations, Snoop told the crowd, "Since my homeboy Justin asked me to come out here tonight, I'm gonna ask him to come out right now." The guys broke into "Signs," doing a little two-step action.

Justin took the reins, jumping into a medly of "Summer" and "Chop Me Up," with Timbaland coming out to do his verse on "Chop." Tim stayed on stage for "Give It to Me," which had girls spilling into the aisles to dance. The duo then broke into the brand-new song that Justin had promised, the title of which they never announced. It features an anthemic chorus with the lyrics "Turn me on now" and a breakdown that repeats "What's your name?/ What's your number?/ I'm glad I came, so you can take my order."

Two hours into the show, it was time for Justin to take over. JT launched into an acrobatic mash-up of hits — both his and other artists'. It started with an acoustic rendition of "Like I Love You," then transitioned to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" during the "Like I Love You" chorus. Next was Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," mixed with the lyrics of "Cry Me a River," then going back to the KOL chorus. "Lovestoned" followed, blended with Coldplay's "Viva la Vida."

The night seemingly was coming to an end as Justin sat down at a piano for a heartfelt performance of "What Goes Around ... /... Comes Around," but although he announced it was his last song, he changed his mind.

"I'm in the mood," he told the Vegas crowd. He shouted to his band to freestyle on the next song, and they settled on "Until the End of Time."

The show ended just shy of midnight, capping off another successful year for Justin and his charity. Honors are especially due for Justin's bandmembers, who spent nearly three hours on stage backing up the night's performers.

Jay Sean is back in the U.S. after a brief promotional trip through the U.K. While back in his home country, he caught Cash Money Records labelmate and recently ranked #2 Hottest MC in the Game, Lil Wayne, performing on his home turf in London. Sean told us about visiting with Wayne after the show in the privacy of his double-decker tour bus.

"It was just me and him," Sean recalled. "I said, 'You know what, bro — thank you. You made a dream come true for me. I got ... well, we have a #1 record in America.' And he just did his legendary laugh and was like, 'Yeah, man! That's what's up!' "

The cause for celebration? His single that features Lil Wayne has put an end to the Black Eyed Peas' six-month-long domination of the #1 spot in popular music. "Down" has replaced "I Gotta Feeling" at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The BBC has dubbed Sean "the most successful male U.K. urban artist in U.S. chart history." Not bad for a guy who has yet to release his debut album in the States.

"When I heard the news I was in London, about to do an interview for radio. It's been the only time in my career where when I found out, I literally couldn't breathe properly. I was so excited. I was so happy," Sean gushed.

Remarkably, Sean's single has taken over U.S. radio even though the star himself has been flying under the radar, avoiding making headlines or becoming fodder for gossip blogs. To this day people are still figuring out just who he is, although that's changing — quickly.

"The video is getting a serious amount of airplay and with that people are starting to recognize me, but again, America is so huge, so we still have work to do," Sean said. And while it may be simple to chalk his success up to beginner's luck, it seems unlikely. After all, his upcoming album will in fact be his third (his two previous platinum-selling albums were released in Europe and Asia).

A simple glance at his Twitter page and you'll think he's been Stateside for years: You'll see kudos from Ashton Kutcher and Chamillionaire, Keri Hilson reprimanding him for not showing more of his bare chest in the "Down" video and musings from Lil Jon about having just recorded a club banger with Sean, the album's second single, "Do You Remember."

And so with the combination of determination, chart success and industry backing, it now seems that Jay Sean should be prepared to wave goodbye to anonymity. His debut album, the aptly titled All or Nothing, hits stores November 24 — and for the former medical school student, it's the culmination of everything he's worked for.

"I love music with such a passion," Sean said. "I do it because I want it all. I want to take my piece of work, which I'm proud of, and I want to take it as far as I can take it. Otherwise I don't want any of it."

In the past two weeks, British pop-R&B singer Jay Sean's debut single "Down" (featuring Lil Wayne), has rocketed from #63 to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On the iTunes Top 10 songs chart, "Down" is now nestled in between the Black Eyed Peas and Kings of Leon at #2. Yes, to say life is moving exceptionally fast for the newcomer (to most Americans, anyway) would be an understatement.

"It's absolutely crazy," Sean told MTV News on the phone from England Thursday. "I've been out there in the States for a good six or seven months, and with my song coming in at #2 on iTunes, all my best friends came up to London to be with me for a little holiday. And we were all sitting in my car and I opened up my e-mail and it said 'Jay Sean in at #6 on Billboard.' I just literally screamed and all my boys rolled down the windows and screamed, 'My boy is in at #6!' "

In the wake of that success, rumors are now swirling that Wayne protégé/ labelmate Drake will be making a guest appearance on the second single from Sean's forthcoming album, which is due in October.

When asked, Sean said, "I'm keeping my mouth shut. I love Drake. I think Drake's an unbelievably gifted lyricist and young and fresh. I think it's pretty safe to say that since he's part of the family now, you're gonna see all of us working together: Me, Drake, Wayne, Baby and Kevin Rudolph."

A rep for Drake had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time.

Jay Sean's album, My Own Way, is scheduled for an October Stateside release.

MIAMI — "Right here, you got my man Jay Sean, the new edition of Cash Money Records!" Lil Wayne proclaims as he and Sean stride across an enormous green-screen on the set of the video for "Down." The song — which features Wayne — is the British pop/R&B artist's debut U.S. single, and it's also an important stylistic step forward for the Cash Money label.

"Everybody is used to what Cash Money is, and that's why he has a new sound," Wayne said. "It's for the ladies. We're used to getting in your face ... and now we are getting more mature here."

Whatever the case, it's working: The song is already making strong inroads at U.S. radio and the video is set to premiere any day. Cash Money already stepped outside of the hip-hop realm with rocker Kevin Rudolf (who also appears on Sean's forthcoming album), and Jay Sean brings a whole new dimension to its roster.

Indeed, the British-Indian singer — who hails from the London borough of Hounslow — is an unlikely match for the label, but his accomplishments speak for themselves. With two albums under his belt, he is a hot-selling artist in Europe and India. In his seven-year career, Sean has blended his R&B style with Punjabi singers and even reggaetón (courtesy of producers Luney Tunez) before going independent with his 2008 album release, the fittingly titled My Own Way.

And so Jay Sean begins his American campaign: "Down" has hit radio, as has Birdman's "Written on Her," which features Sean. The video for "Down" drops this week, and Sean begins a West Coast promotional tour toward the end of July. His U.S. release, expected in October of this year, will also be titled My Own Way, but will have a whole new set of songs and of course, a couple of Cash Money family features. But even an artist who plays to crowds of more than 50,000 people in Europe and Asia is a surprise signing for Cash Money.

"A producer friend told me that [Cash Money Co-CEO Ronald 'Slim' Williams] is really into your project, loves the fact that you did it independently," Sean told MTV News. "They understand all about that because that's how they started. They just really want to take you to the next level and bring you to America."
