"Apart from that, I have got nothing to say to the b---h." Winehouse entered a London rehab clinic last month, to deal with her own addictions. Stones frontman Mick Jagger also reflected on this latest generation of drug-addled rockers, saying, "When we were experimenting with drugs, little was known about the effects. In our time, there were no rehab centers like today." ...

Less than a week after frontman Scott Weiland returned to rehab, Velvet Revolver have nixed their upcoming concerts in Australia. "Velvet Revolver deeply apologize to their fans in Australia and thank them for sticking by the group when various members have relapsed during the last year and a half," a statement read. ... Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler have finalized their divorce, according to TMZ.com. "I'm no longer with her," Barker told People. "I have a beautiful daughter at home, a beautiful son at home. That's where my head is at right now. I don't have time for anything else." The couple, who have two children together, have been on and off since they filed for divorce two years ago. ...

Dr. Dre is on the hunt for Death Row documents in an effort to figure out how much it owes him for unpaid royalties that have been accrued after the record company filed for bankruptcy, Billboard.com reports. In paperwork filed in bankruptcy court last week, the producer/rapper (real name: Andre Young) requested permission to acquire information that would help him assess the value of his claim. Dre has asked the court to force Death Row to hand over the documents on February 29 and order the company's reps to be available to be deposed seven days later. Dre had previously tried to sue the label for royalties multiple times, but last month a district-court judge in California agreed to hear his appeal of the court's dismissal of one of the lawsuits. ...

Lupe Fiasco fans have a whole new reason to bundle up this winter: The Chicago MC has created a line of reversible jackets with L.A. street-wear designer Dr. Romanelli. The jackets are black on one side and pink on the other, and have "The Cool" — referring to Fiasco's latest LP — scrawled on the back. ... The score Death Cab for Cutie chief Ben Gibbard co-crafted for the new Kurt Cobain biopic, "About a Son," is getting a standalone release via Barsuk — the same label that recently put out Field Manual, the solo album by fellow Cutie Chris Walla. The "About a Son" score, co-written with Nirvana producer Steve Fisk, will be available digitally February 19, the same day the movie arrives on DVD. ...

All is not well in the Shire. The estate of J.R.R. Tolkien — the late author who penned the "Lord of the Rings" series — filed a lawsuit on Monday (February 11) against New Line Cinema, the studio that released Peter Jackson's film trilogy based on the books. The Tolkien Trust, along with HarperCollins — the series' original publisher — claims New Line failed to pay part of the 7.5 percent of the gross receipts from the films as required. This could mean bad news for the two back-to-back movie adaptations of "The Hobbit" that Jackson was planning to produce. According to The Associated Press, the plaintiffs are seeking more than $150 million in compensatory damages, additional punitive damages and a court order that would give the Tolkien Trust the right to cancel rights the film studio may have to make films based on Tolkien's other works. ...

Filter are planning to drop their comeback LP, Anthems for the Damned, in May. Frontman Richard Patrick spoke with MTV News about the effort late last year, saying, "I knew I'd have to return with the goods, and I'm absolutely convinced that that's what I have with this record." ... Fans of Cold War Kids probably didn't know that Matt Maust has more than just bass-playing skills — he's a writer too. His "What It Is: What It Is," co-written with Paul G. Maziar, is a new urban-centric tome that also includes photo collages. It's due in stores in May. ...

The unusual scheme hatched with Verizon Wireless, which will give its V Cast subscribers an exclusive chance to access the songs each month, according to Billboard Biz. Tim, who is up for five Grammys, will work with a different artist on each track while touring the country on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus, which will spin off making-of footage for V Cast subscribers on a dedicated Timbaland channel. Each mobile track will be released just days after it is produced in full-length download, ringtone and ringback version, and will only be available through V Cast and Verizon for $1.99. At the end of the year, a compilation album will be released through Verizon. ...

Pitbull and Baby Bash likely ran into each other at last year's Wango Tango music festival in Southern California — they both performed there — and now the two are joining forces for MTV Trés' Sucker Free Latino spring tour. During the month of February, fans can leave messages for Geiger on Mozes.com, after which he'll pick one of the fans to chat with. ... Flyleaf and Seether will team up this spring for an eight-week U.S. tour that kicks off April 8 in Denver and runs through May 31 at a yet-to-be-announced city. A partial list of dates can be found at either band's Web site. ... Thrice have a busy May ahead — the SoCal rockers have a show booked for almost every night that month. The band will actually set out on tour the month before that, beginning April 16 in San Diego, and will bring it to a close May 29 in Hollywood. ...

Members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Saturday Night Live" castmembers Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers, and others turned up at New York's Webster Hall on Monday night for a party thrown by Chloë Sevigny. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts are creating a live-performance attraction based on "American Idol" at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida. The yet-unnamed attraction, which should open this year, will allow budding singers to "audition" on an "Idol"-like set in front of an audience of 1,000, with a daily winner getting a pass to the show's regional auditions. Visitors will be able to pick their song beforehand, rehearse in a sound booth and, if they pass the audition, work with a vocal coach before performing in front of the live audience and a panel of judges during one of the seven daily shows. ...

Republican presidential candidate John McCain might have a lot of independent-minded supporters, but heartland rocker John Mellencamp ain't one of 'em. The Arizona senator and Republican front-runner stopped playing the unabashedly liberal Indiana singer/songwriter's "Our Country" at his campaign events after Mellencamp's publicist sent a letter questioning the logic of using the tune, according to The Associated Press. "Are you sure you want to use his music to promote Senator McCain's efforts?" read a letter sent to the candidate's campaign on Monday. "Logic says that the facts might prove to be an embarrassment, were they to be circulated widely." The McCain camp said Thursday that the song, and a few others by Mellencamp, would no longer be played at events. Mellencamp publicist Bob Merlis told AP that the situation made Mellencamp uncomfortable and that he couldn't imagine McCain would want to be associated with him. "You know, here's a guy running around saying, 'I'm a true conservative,' " Merlis said. "Well, if you're such a true conservative, why are you playing songs that have a very populist pro-labor message written by a guy who would find no argument if you characterized him as left of center?" ...

Billy Joel will be the last artist to play New York's Shea Stadium before it's torn down. The show will make Joel the only artist to have played both Yankee and Shea Stadiums.

After nearly two years of rumors and speculation, Jack Sparrow is finally getting himself a dad. Fans of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series may scratch their heads after watching next week's "Dead Man's Chest," wondering what happened to the fatherly cameo by Rolling Stones guitarist — and inspiration for Johnny Depp's character — Keith Richards. According to series director Gore Verbinski, however, the Richards cameo as Jack Sparrow's father was never intended for film number two. "It was actually Johnny's idea to put Keith in the film, because all his observational work was done on Keith for his character," Verbinski explained. "So, we've written a little cameo, and Keith has scheduled us into his tour, and it's going to be a lot of fun." Verbinski added that Richards' recent Sparrow-like mishap, which had him falling from a coconut tree in Fiji, shouldn't stall their plans. "Apparently he's doing really well, and we'll shoot him in September." In other news, the third film has a name: "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End." Explained series producer Jerry Bruckheimer: "It's [Depp and Richards'] journey, and when you see the [second] picture you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's their journey, based on the cliffhanger that's in the second one." ...

Cosmic rays forever altered the lives of "The Fantastic Four," and now creative forces are similarly transforming the superhero family. "It probably will be darker," revealed actress Kerry Washington, who will return as blinded Thing paramour Alicia Masters in the 2005 film's sequel. "They have handed in two different scripts, and they are trying now to take the best of both. So we're not exactly sure yet what it's going to look like." Two factors that are certain to be in the movie, however, are planetary devourer Galactus and his gray-skinned herald. "You would think that the Silver Surfer would be its own movie franchise, because people really love that character," Washington said of the Surfer/Galactus story line that will intersect with the characters of returning stars Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis. "I think it's really exciting that they're bringing that to 'Fantastic Four.' I think it'll be huge." ...

Leonardo DiCaprio is looking to drop out. No, the reclusive actor is not quitting the business, but his Appian Way production house has hired playwright Craig Lucas to develop a biopic on 1960s acid guru and "tune in, turn on, drop out" counterculture icon Timothy Leary, according to The Hollywood Reporter. DiCaprio is considering starring in the movie about Leary, whom he befriended before the LSD advocate's death in 1996. Lucas will work on the script — which will focus on Leary's life between his enrollment at West Point in the early 1940s and his escape from prison in 1970 — with Leary archivist Michael Horowitz. ...

You might know 27-year-old rising star Andy Samberg from his work on "Saturday Night Live" — you've probably seen him professing his love for cupcakes and "The Chronicles of Narnia" in "Lazy Sunday," a spoof clip that took off via viral video. Soon, however, he'll be crashing his way onto the silver screen. "I'm working on a movie called 'Hot Rod' with Paramount that we're shooting this summer, and hopefully it will come out," he grinned. "It's about a wannabe daredevil dude who is terrible at stunts." Samberg will star as the bumbling not-so-Evel Knievel, alongside "Deadwood" veteran Ian McShane, for producer Lorne Michaels. "I'm looking forward to a stunt double crashing into things, and then me lying back down on the ground and going, 'Ahh, that was painful.' There will probably be a lot of that," he laughed. "But really slickly edited." The film is expected in theaters sometime in 2007. ...

Owen Wilson wants to make a promise to his fans: He and Vince Vaughn will be crashing something again really soon. Their re-teaming, however, most likely won't come in the comedy "Outsourced," which Wilson expects will be stuck in development hell for the foreseeable future. "I know that they've written a script," he said of the flick about two workers who travel to Mexico to reclaim their jobs. "There was talk of Vince and I working on it, but I'm not sure if that's gonna happen." Wilson said he and Vaughn stay in touch as they try to find another script like last year's smash, "Wedding Crashers," but they're waiting to see how several projects — including one that would put them back in their beloved tuxedos — turn out. "I don't know if it'll be 'Wedding Crashers 2' or what ... but Vince and I will definitely work on something together. I don't know if it will be a direct sequel to that or if we would start over with some new characters, but that's definitely something that's nice to know, that you can work together again, because we had such a good time." ...

Two versions of "The Hills Have Eyes" made you close your lids tight, two similar tales of "The Omen" made you fear the name Damien, and double-barreled "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies made you promise to never wear leather again. Now another horror remake is on the way, and it might have audiences fearing what they'll find under their Christmas trees. "It's 'Black Christmas,' and it's a big horror movie," 20-year-old Michelle Trachtenberg said of the recently filmed remake of a 1974 classic. "It's about a bunch of sorority girls running around, getting killed in a house." Laughing, she added: "My character is sort of like a sarcastic, alcoholic bitch, and she gives the killer a run for his money." Co-starring fellow up-and-comers Oliver Hudson, Katie Cassidy and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Trachtenberg said the Vancouver, British Columbia, film set actually wasn't horrific at all — it was more like a giant party. "It wasn't all that scary. It was just a lot of fun. It was more like a sorority experience." The flick is due in theaters in November — just in time for the holidays. ...

Anthony Hopkins began production this week on his first directorial effort in nearly a decade, with Christian Slater toplining a cast that includes John Turturro, Michael Clarke Duncan and Jeffrey Tambor. "It's called 'Slipstream' at this time," Slater said of the project, where he plays a middle-aged screenwriter whose fragile mental state has him being visited by the characters in his latest script. "I play a couple of characters, actually. It's a very cerebral movie. I think I play a part of Anthony Hopkins' subconscious," Slater said. "It's something he wrote and something very personal to him, so I'm grateful to be a part of it." The former Hannibal Lecter hasn't been in the director's chair since 1996's little-seen "August." "He's certainly very excited," Slater beamed about Hopkins. "I've talked to him a few times, and he seems to be pretty enthusiastic." The film is due in theaters next year. ...

Jerry Bruckheimer has bestowed his golden touch on some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, including "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Armageddon." Now he's turning his attention to the video game title "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time." "It's an adventure," Bruckheimer said of the third-person action series, about a fresh-faced adventurer and the mysterious Dagger of Time. "I love adventures, and this has young, interesting characters on a quest. I love that. And it's with magical powers, so that's a wonderful start." Game designer Jordan Mechner and screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("The Day After Tomorrow") are plucking certain elements from the game for a largely original script, following the template Bruckheimer used while peripherally basing "Pirates" on the popular Disney ride. "We're working on the screenplay," Bruckheimer revealed. "It's coming along quite well, and hopefully once it's finished, we will move it into production."

Ashlee Simpson has been scandal-free since November, and she tells Teen People for its June/ July "25 Hottest Under 25" cover story that the shift can be attributed to now-serious boyfriend Braxton Olita, the guitarist in her band. "He's the yin to my yang," Simpson told the magazine. "People call him my little Buddha. When he comes around, everything changes. ... I'm more peaceful and chilled out. I honestly couldn't be more content." Though she's "absolutely in love and in a committed relationship," Simpson says she's in no rush to speed up the pace, especially after what she's seen happen with her sister's much-publicized marriage and divorce. Instead, "We live day to day," she said. "Marriage is definitely not on my mind. There's a lot of growing up you do in your 20s, and I definitely want to wait until my late 20s or 30s or whenever the time is right." Ashlee's big sister Jessica Simpson also made the cut for Teen People's "25 Hottest Under 25" list, along with Amanda Bynes, Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, Ciara, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, JoJo, Kristin Cavallari and Natasha Bedingfield. ...

"We see it as an exciting way to introduce people to what a subscription service is like, with the unlimited access and listening to anything you want." ... The only thing we know for sure is that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards suffered a concussion on the island of Fiji at some point in the past few days and is recovering in New Zealand. Though she's not denying it, the band's publicist wouldn't confirm that Richards, 62, suffered the injury after falling out of a coconut tree, as widely reported by the media. ...

Shakira is calling ahead for her upcoming tour, sending multimedia personal video invitations to each city she's hitting on her Oral Fixation jaunt. Shakira's also inviting fans to text which songs they want to hear on the tour, and a select few concertgoers will be picked to head backstage. The arena tour, which was announced Friday (April 28), kicks off August 9 in El Paso, Texas, at the Don Haskins Center, and wraps September 25 in McCallen, Texas, at the Dodge Arena. ... The singer lit up the stage in Hollywood, Florida, on Thursday night for the Latin Billboard Awards, scoring six awards and performing "Hips Don't Lie" with Wyclef Jean. Shakira took Latin pop album of the year for Fijacion Oral Vol. 1, while her single "La Tortura" won four awards, including hot Latin song of the year. She was also presented with the Spirit of Hope Award, honoring her work through the Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) Foundation, aiding children in Colombia. Daddy Yankee, who scored three awards at the ceremony, opened the show performing "Rompe" and took prizes for Latin album artist and top reggaetón album.

With a little one on the way, Gwen Stefani is planning to expand her L.A.M.B. line to include baby tennis shoes. "Little gold ones, you wouldn't believe it. They're so cute," the singer told Women's Wear Daily. She's also widening her footwear line for adults to include boots and stilettos, as well as adding other accessories, such as a watch line. "I want to do lingerie and makeup at some point," she said. "I want to do everything, eventually." ... While the tabloids love to link Jessica Simpson and Adam Levine, Victoria's Secret thinks the Maroon 5 frontman and Shakira would make a better match, according to their "What Is Sexy" list — the two singers won sexiest male and female musicians, respectively. But Simpson wasn't entirely shut out. Her "These Boots Are Made For Walkin' " clip still gets mileage, nabbing sexiest video. Meanwhile, the sexiest real couple honors went to Seal and Heidi Klum.

An exclusive Beck remix is available as part of a comic manga series. "Go It Alone," remixed by Superthriller, is a free download in the fourth volume of "Mongolian Chop Squad," to be released in June. The Allman Brothers Band and Cheap Trick filed suit Thursday in New York against Sony BMG alleging that they were being shortchanged by the Sony Music division on profits from digital downloads. According to the Los Angeles Times, the suit by the two classic rock acts seeks class-action status and contends that Sony currently counts downloads sales as "physical phonorecords," with the standard 20 percent deduction for packaging even though the downloads are electronic. It also claims that Sony Music deducts 15 percent for a standard "breakage" fee, as it would with CDs or cassettes. The suit alleges that bands should be getting 30 cents per download from Sony Music versus the 4.5 cents they get now. ...

Apparently you shouldn't mess with Hoboken, New Jersey, indie rockers Yo La Tengo. Their 12th album, due September 12, is called I Am Not Afraid of You, and I Will Beat Your Ass according to a spokesperson for Matador Records. The 15-track LP includes the songs "Pass the Hatchet," "Black Flowers" and "The Story of Yo La Tango" (You read that right — it's "Tango"). Having done movie-soundtrack work for the films "Junebug" and "Old Joy" recently, the group has also written music for "Shortbus," John Cameron Mitchell's directorial follow-up to "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." ... Montreal rockers the Dears have completed work on their third record, the self-deprecatingly titled Gang of Losers. Tentatively due August 29, the 12-track record has been described by the band as a more stripped-down and raw affair than its past expansive orchestral work. Tracks include "The Ballad of Humankindness," "Find Our Way to Freedom" and "Death or Life We Want You." The track "Fear Made the World Go 'Round" can currently be heard on the group's MySpace page.

Even if you don't dig classic rock, you've gotta be grateful for the Concert For New York City, which so far has raised over $30 million for the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which will use the money to help the families of victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The dollar figure is the sum of ticket sales, corporate sponsorship, domestic and international TV rights, merchandising, auction funds and donations made through a toll free number and the Internet, according to a press release.

The Robin Hood Foundation expects a new stream of money to come in starting November 27, when Columbia Records releases a double CD featuring performances from the event (see "Concert For New York CD Coming In November").

The Concert for New York City took place October 20 at New York's Madison Square Garden and featured an all-star lineup of veteran performers including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, David Bowie, Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, the Who, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi and Goo Goo Dolls (see "McCartney, Jagger, Bowie, The Who Come To NY's Aid").

Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys, Macy Gray, Marc Anthony and Jay-Z also performed at the show, as did Janet Jackson, whose set was beamed in via satellite.

In addition to raising money, the Concert for New York City was a tribute to the vitality of the city and the heroism of the New York fire, police and rescue crews. Hundreds of cops, firemen and rescue workers attended the event, as did the families of many who died in the tragedy. Throughout the evening, audience members held up pictures of lost loved ones.

Comedians including Billy Crystal, Jim Carrey, Howard Stern, Adam Sandler, Will Farrell, David Spade, Mike Myers, Denis Leary, Jimmy Fallon and Dan Ackroyd provided some of the evening's lighter moments. Other celebrities — including Harrison Ford, Meg Ryan, Susan Sarandon, Richard Gere, Julia Stiles, John Cusack, Michael J. Fox, Hilary Swank, Salma Hayek, Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Joe Torre and Reggie Jackson — made presentations.

A host of politicians such as New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former president Bill Clinton, Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor George Pataki worked the crowd during the night.

The benefit also featured short films by Woody Allen, Edward Burns, Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese, Jerry Seinfeld and Kevin Smith.

Sheryl Crow jammed with the motley trio of Kid Rock, Keith Richards and Stevie Nicks on Monday night, in the second of what promises to be a regular series of intimate club shows in New York.

The show, at the downtown club Shine, saw Crow cover part of Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" and duet with Kid Rock on Dobie Gray's classic "Drift Away."
Richards joined Crow for covers of Fats Domino's "Ain't That a Shame" and Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," while Crow and Nicks took on the latter's duet with Tom Petty, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around."
Crow will most likely continue to play low-key club dates in New York as she records the follow-up to her 1998 album The Globe Sessions, according to her management.

Well into recording the self-produced new album, Crow is pursuing what her management described as an energetic rock direction.

Crow's written and recorded several songs in collaboration with Kid Rock, but it's not yet known whether those songs will be included on the album, which is due this fall.

The singer/songwriter's last release was 1999's Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live from Central Park, which captured a concert that included guest appearances from both Richards and Nicks.

She also co-produced and performed on several tracks on Nicks' just-released new album, Trouble in Shangri-La, including "It's Only Love," which the duo sang together Monday night.
