Several performers from last year's gangbuster Jimi Hendrix jam session at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will get to re-Experience the magic at this year's Street Scene festival in San Diego.

Last September 12, an all-star concert featuring former Hendrix bandmates Billy Cox (bass) and Mitch Mitchell (drums) as well as members of Kid Rock, Double Trouble and Buckcherry celebrated the opening of the Jimi Hendrix Surround Sound Theater and Museum and the release of the box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The Street Scene performance on September 8 will feature Hendrix's post-1969 rhythm section, the Band of Gypsys (Cox and drummer Buddy Miles), performing alongside a roster of guitarists including Kenny Olson of Kid Rock, Doyle Bramhall, Eric Gales and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos.

Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes, Police guitarist Andy Summers, Jonny Lang and the Reverend Horton Heat may step onboard as well, according to the Band of Gypsys' manager, who is still confirming artists for the tribute.

Non-guitarists who will participate include Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section of Tommy Shannon (bass) and Chris Layton (drums) and Living Colour vocalist Corey Glover, the manager said. He also said he hopes some of the artists already scheduled to play Street Scene — including Counting Crows, Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band, Soulive, G. Love & Special Sauce and the Long Beach Dub Allstars — will also show up.

"This kind of collaboration doesn't happen anymore," said event organizer John McDermott, catalog manager of the Experience Hendrix foundation. "So we're invoking Jimi's legacy to make it happen. The goal is to continue to reach out to music fans of all ages and make them aware of Jimi's music."

In addition to witnessing the all-star jam, Street Scene attendees can visit the Red House Exhibit, a traveling museum of Hendrix memorabilia.

Other acts scheduled to play the 2001 Street Scene include Outkast, James Brown, En Vogue, the Offspring, P.O.D., Burning Spear and his Burning Band, Cake, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Sugarcult, Third World, Eek-a-Mouse, Rollins Band, Cheap Trick, X, Social Distortion, Doug E. Fresh, Jurassic 5, Whodini, the Fixx, Berlin and Rufus Wainwright.

After leaving this fall's Family Values tour under less than cordial circumstances, Rob Zombie has wasted no time in putting together his own metal caravan as well as a few other surprises.

Zombie will join Monster Magnet and Fear Factory for a fall tour that is expected to kick off on October 6. The outing will see the White Zombie frontman roll out material from his soon-to-be-released solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe," and roll out the larger-than-life stage production he had hoped to mount as part of the Family Values tour.

Considering that just two weeks ago, Zombie was part of the Family Values tour, the singer has put together a formidable line-up. Fear Factory turned heads with a run on last year's Ozzfest and with their recently released album "Obsolete," while, Monster Magnet is generating buzz with its glitz-encrusted Mase-spoofing video for "Space Lord" off of its "Power Trip" LP.

Zombie has another October project in the works in the form of "Halloween
Hootenanny," a compilation from his recently launched Zombie a Go-Go Records.

The Cramps, the Rev. Horton Heat, and Zombie a Go-Go Records' own the Bomboras will be on the record when it arrives this October. Zombie himself will also turn up on the album, lending his vocals to a track by another Zombie a Go-Go signing, the Ghastly Ones.

A number of other artists may join the line-up as well, including the Misfits and the Amazing Crowns (the artists formerly known as the Amazing Royal Crowns before losing a legal decision to the Royal Crown Revue).

"We're wrapping up a song for a Halloween compilation on Rob Zombie's label, Zombie A Go-Go, it's called the Halloween Hootenanny I believe," Crowns frontman Jason "King" Kendall told MTV News during a recent stop on the Warped tour. "The Cramps are on it, the Misfits, Horton Heat, and we're doing a Screamin' Jay Hawkins cover, 'Little Demon,' [500k QuickTime] so we're going
to do that and we're also going to start the new album."

A spokesperson for Geffen records, which handles Zombie's label, could not confirm that the Crowns or the Misfits would be on the album, but we'll keep you posted as Zombie's plans for a tour and the "Halloween Hootenanny" develop.

In the course of logging six years and five albums, the Reverend Horton Heat has turned on a number of fans to his potent psychobilly cocktail, among them comedian Drew Carey.

Fans of the portly, Everyman comedic hero are no doubt familiar with the Rev. from his appearances on Carey's "Mr. Vegas" HBO special (which found the band sharing the stage with the Muffs, David Cassidy and Wayne Newton) and on his ABC sitcom (where he and his band played the heavies that Carey and his Herb Alpert-loving band of friends lost to in a battle of the bands competition).

"He's just a fan," Jim Heath, the artist currently known as the Reverend Horton Heat, recently told MTV News Online of the comic. "He and some of the people that work on his show are fans of ours. Quite a few people who work on the show are now, so that's pretty cool... They just called us up and said that they wanted us to do this Vegas thing, and they wanted us to play 'It's Martini Time.'"

"We got to meet
Wayne Newton on that show," Heat bassist Jimbo Wallace added.

"That was great, that was awesome," Heath said of the band's time on stage with the Vegas icon. "It was really funny too because he so nice about everything. He had done two shows that night in Branson, Missouri and then flown all the way to Vegas."

"I was sharing my area with David Cassidy, and I was enthralled," Heat drummer Scott Churilla said of the experience.

Heath said that he hopes that Carey will lend a hand when the band shoots the first video from their new album "Space Heater." The band noted that given their extensive tour schedule (which includes their current tour with Face To Face and a run on this summer's Vans Warped tour), there's no telling when they'll have a chance to shoot a clip for the song, titled "Lie Detector."

Cops Confiscate Rev. Horton Heat's Gear

March 10 [14:00 EST] -- The Rev. Horton Heat and his bandmates got a less then pleasant surprise when they rolled into Columbia, Missouri and promptly had their instruments and equipment confiscated by local police.

According to the band's management, the Columbia Sheriff, acting on a court order, approached the band after its March 4 performance and cited a default judgment levied against the act in a North Carolina lawsuit.

The Rev.'s management contends that neither they nor the group knew they were being sued, let alone that they had lost, but the court order mandated that the band either pay $30,000 or hand over its equipment. A bit low on cash at the time, the group forfeited its gear.

The band's management said that the suit was brought against the Reverend (through the band's management company) in late 1995, and arose from a financial dispute with a promoter. Management said that North Carolina law states that a plaintiff must only post a newspaper announcement
and mail a notice to the defendant when filing a lawsuit.

The band's management contends that they never received any notification about the suit, and were not there to defend themselves when the suit went to trial in early 1996. Missouri law apparently allows authorities to confiscate property based on rulings in other states' civil trials.

"We were sued, and didn't know it," a management spokesperson said.

Management said that when the band did learn of the suit, as its gear was being loaded into a truck, its lawyers were contacted and immediately began negotiating a deal to get the equipment back.

The next day, after coughing up $12,000, the band got its gear back and made it to its next show. Management said that their lawyers were now weighing their options, and noted that the situation remains unresolved.

"It was a very expensive inconvenience," the spokesperson said.
