What happens when you try to balance the love and hate in your life? Just ask Papa Roach, whose Lovehatetragedy comes out Tuesday (June 18). The follow-up to Infest features the single "She Loves Me Not" and finds frontman Jacoby Shaddix (f.k.a. Coby Dick) grappling with marital strife.

As the guitar player for Alice in Chains and friend of their late frontman, Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell is also familiar with moody music. He serves up Degradation Trip, his first album since 1998's Boggy Depot.

On a lighter note, Wyclef Jean's not hiding his enthusiasm that Masquerade hits stores this week, while Guided By Voices and their Universal Truths and Cycles share shelf space with Our Lady Peace's Gravity, Paulina Rubio's Border Girl and Paul Oakenfold's Bunkka, which features Nelly Furtado, Perry Farrell, Ice Cube and Tricky.

Finally, a bunch of Essentials and Anthology albums from greats such as Alice Cooper, Devo and Cameo hit shelves as well. Word up.

Baha Men's upbeat "Best Years of Our Lives" will be joined by songs from Smash Mouth, Rufus Wainwright and Leslie Carter on the "Shrek" soundtrack, due May 15.

The Baha Men cut goes to radio April 24, but it can already be heard in trailers for the computer-animated film, which features the voice of Mike Myers as a nasty ogre who eventually learns the meaning of love.

Smash Mouth offer a cover of the Monkees classic "I'm a Believer," while Carter contributes the title track from her debut album, Like Wow! Wainwright delivers a version of Leonard Cohen's mournful "Hallelujah."
The disc also includes previously released material from Smash Mouth ("All Star"), the Eels ("My Beloved Monster") and the Proclaimers ("I'm On My Way").

The film, due May 18, also features the voices of Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow and Eddie Murphy, whose character, Donkey, sings a version of "I'm a Believer."

Those wild Scottish Reid brothers are back to their old tricks again ... and no, we don't mean Jim and William of the Jesus and Mary Chain.

Identical twins Craig and Charlie Reid, collectively known as the Proclaimers, will release their first album in seven years, Persevere, on May 22, according to a Nettwerk Records spokesperson.

Produced by Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones, Soul Asylum, INXS, Duran Duran), the band's fourth album promises more songs sung with the heavy Scottish brogue that made "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," a tune from their second LP that later appeared on the soundtrack to the 1993 film "Benny & Joon," an irritating yet somewhat endearing worldwide smash.

The duo will attempt to re-enter the single spotlight with "There's a Touch," the first of the LP's 14 songs released to radio.

The Reid brothers will support Persevere with a U.S. tour with the Barenaked Ladies, which will run from August 6–26. A complete itinerary is still being sorted out, according to the spokesperson.

The Proclaimers, once hailed as a post-punk Everly Brothers, released their debut album, This Is the Story, in 1987, but it wasn't until they virtually disappeared after the release of its follow-up, 1988's Sunshine on Leith, that they achieved mainstream recognition with "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." Their sophomore album went on to sell more than 696,000 copies, according to SoundScan. The duo tried to match that success with 1994's Hit the Highway, but was unsuccessful.
Track listing for Persevere, not necessarily in order, according to Nettwerk Records:

"There's a Touch"

"Sweet Little Girls"

"How Many Times"

"Land Fit for Zeros"

"One Too Many"

"That's When He Told Her"

"Scotland's Story"
