Full Biography

  1. The self-described 'electro rock disco dub funk project' Op:l Bastards hail from Helsinki, Finland, and is comprised of members T.A.Kaukolampi, Vilunki 3000, and Tuomo Puranen. Formed during the late '90s, the group issued a self-titled debut EP in 1998, which received favorable reviews in such dance/DJ publications as Mixmag. Op:l Bastards established themselves as a live band from the get-go, as they soon built followings in Finland, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. The group was then included on the 1999 compilation Current Electrics (via the Sm:)e Communications label), when they contributed the track "At Tuamo's" to the set. Further EP's and singles followed, including such titles as 1999's Sagittarius and Spraybeat, while Op:l Bastards was asked to remix the track "Here Comes The Night" by Egoexpress. After a pair of additional EP's surfaced, 2000's Scorpius and 2001's Funking, Op:l Bastards finally got around to issuing their first full-length recording, The Job. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
