Full Biography

Born in the summer of 1997, in the Heart of Dixie, from the remnants of several local rock bands, Northstar covered all the usual local scene bases. They played shows throughout Alabama and much of the southeast. They recorded demos, too, most of which just circulated through their circle of friends and are now long gone. Aware that the bands collective rock and roll future was somewhat limited if they were to stay in Alabama, they decided to start touring around the country in 2000. They booked their first tour, bought a van, and set out on the road. After years of polishing their D.I.Y. skills of booking, promoting, and performing live, the band scored a deal with Triple Crown Records. Their debut album, Is This Thing Loaded gave Northstar something solid to tour behind for two years straight. Sharing bills with everyone from Brand New to Taking Back Sunday to The Beautiful Mistake to fellow Alabamans Hot Rod Circuit, Northstar carved out a name for themselves in this otherwise cluttered world of indie rock. After coming off the road for some well deserved rest and recuperation, the boys entered into the studio with up and coming producer Matt Squire (Thrice, The Explosion, Orange Island) to craft their sophomore record, Pollyanna.
