One of DJ AM's former girlfriends, singer/actress Mandy Moore, expressed her grief on Saturday (August 29) about a man she said was a true friend.

"I am absolutely heartbroken," Moore said in a statement about the DJ, born Adam Goldstein, who was found dead in his Soho apartment in New York on Friday at the age of 36. "For those of us lucky enough to have known him, Adam radiated a contagious exuberance for life and also personified the very definition of a true friend. To say that he will be missed beyond words is an understatement. My heart goes out to his loved ones."

Moore, who married singer/songwriter Ryan Adams in March, flew to AM's side last year when he was badly burned in a plane crash in South Carolina that took the lives of four others. Though the two dated for two months in 2007, they reportedly remained close and, according to Us Weekly, rekindled their romance for a brief period following the accident, in which AM's frequent musical partner, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, also suffered serious burns.

AM also dated reality-TV star Nicole Richie for several years beginning in 2004, but the couple's on-again, off-again relationship ended a months after they announced their engagement in February 2005. Richie has not yet commented on AM's death, possibly because she is due to give birth to her second child with Joel Madden. A spokesperson for Richie could not be reached for comment at press time.

Richie's onetime best friend, Paris Hilton, tweeted about AM's death, recalling their long friendship. "Adam and I were friends since I was 15," Hilton said. "He had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest, funniest and most talented men I have ever met. ... It's so hard to accept that I'm not going to be able to see him or talk to him again. There are no right words for this, I feel so sad."

The New York City Medical Examiner's office announced on Saturday that autopsy results on AM were inconclusive and further toxicology tests will be needed. AM was reportedly found face-down on the mattress of his bad in just his sweatpants, with bottles of prescription pills and a glass pipe near his body, when police broke into his apartment on Friday evening at the behest of concerned friends.

More than 10 years ago, a slew of young stars hit the pop charts. Although the queen bees were Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, back then, Mandy Moore held her own with hits like "Candy" and "I Wanna Be With You."

With Spears and Aguilera continually reinventing themselves but staying true to what Moore considers their "formula," the singer/actress has moved on with a throwback to a " '70s sort of Southern California pop sound" on her new album, Amanda Leigh.

"I kind of always knew we would all differentiate ourselves from one another," she told MTV News. "Musically, they've stuck to a formula that works for them and, obviously, has always proven successful. I don't think I found that same success singing music that really, at the end of the day, I wasn't happy singing."

But Moore said she wasn't trying to prove anything by jumping off that bandwagon. "It wasn't a bold gesture to try and show that I was an adult," she explained. "I sort of have taken my baby steps to get to where I am today. I feel comfortable singing the music that I'm singing, because it's coming from me, finally."

In fact, Moore helped write all the music on Amanda Leigh, making the album in Boston to stay away from the distractions of her life in New York and Los Angeles. "It's the record I've always wanted to make," she said of the LP, which debuted at #25 on the Billboard albums chart this week. "And I'm excited for people to hear it. It's sort of got a tinge of all the artists that I love and listen to on a consistent basis."

The album — which she said was inspired by Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell and "maybe even a little McCartney" — was recorded on vintage equipment and with Moore's more mature view of life. Partly thanks to her marriage to rocker Ryan Adams, it is a far cry from the music and themes she sang about back in the day.

"I think I have a lot more information now, be it life experience, discovering new music. ... I know what I'm singing about now," she said. "Everything is really personal now, whereas before, I had no connection to it. It's deeper now. It's a bit more organic, because it's what I want to say."

Mandy Moore recently married indie rocker Ryan Adams, and — for now at least — she'd like to keep their relationship strictly matrimonial.

"Lots of exciting things going on in my world right now. I'm very happy — very, very happy," said the singer, whose album Amanda Leigh drops in May. "And in terms of collaborating in the future, I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility, but right now, I'm kind of just psyched about this record and getting my band on the road."

"You know, if he ever needs a job or something, maybe he can audition for the band," she joked. "Other than that, I think we'll both just stick to being supportive of each other on the sidelines."

Moore said Adams is supporting her these days by teaching her guitar and piano, calling him her "in-home teacher" during an interview with Details. And Moore revealed to MTV News that aside from the Ryan Adams School of Guitar and Piano, she's also learning bass. No word if Adams is also her bass teacher.

"I'm learning bass right now, so I'll potentially show some bass skills off onstage, but only on the easy songs," she said, adding, "I know guitar a little bit, and I play a little bit of piano, both kind of terribly, but I always think its pretty badass when you see a female bass player."

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams were married Tuesday in a simple, casual wedding ceremony in Savannah, Georgia. The pastor who officiated the ceremony talked about it to People.com, describing Moore as "giddy."

"She was thrilled to be getting married. She was giddy but not in a childish way. She was obviously so happy," Pastor Steven Schulte told the site, adding that it was one of their reps who asked if he could officiate the last-minute wedding. "I thought it was either somebody famous or somebody really bad."

On Tuesday afternoon, Moore — reportedly wearing a cream-colored, lacy, tea-length dress and flat sandals — and Adams — dressed in tight skinny jeans, a T-shirt with sport coat and sneakers — showed up to Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda Home for Boys with two other men. Schulte had no idea the couple were celebrities.

The couple kept the 8-minute ceremony low-key and exchanged silver bands from a local jeweler. Moore cried a bit as she took Adams as her husband. After the ceremony, Schulte congratulated the couple, who got engaged just a month earlier.

The couple then shared some romantic moments when it was all over. According to People, "Adams turned and took Moore's face in both of his hands and gave her another kiss. They then walked to a little footbridge near the chapel where they hugged and kissed."

"It was so romantic. It was awesome," wedding planner Chad Baker said. "I just can't stress how happy they seemed."

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams are married, a rep for Moore confirmed to MTV News.

The report of their marriage originally appeared on PerezHilton.com. According to the gossip site, Moore and Adams got married Tuesday in an intimate ceremony in Savannah, Georgia. A source told the site, "She's very, very happy." The couple got engaged in February after dating on and off. Another source told Perez that Adams "is completely head-over-heels about her and a changed man."

The couple started dating in December 2007, according to E! News, but didn't make their relationship public until last March. Adams was quite vocal about why the couple broke up the following July, blaming the media's constant presence as a cause. "Unfortunately, I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter," he said of the breakup. "[I'm] staying close to my support group of friends and bandmates and not engaging in activities that prevent me from taking care of myself or others."

Soon after the split, Moore was seen hanging out with former flame DJ AM after he survived a deadly plane crash, though the renewed relationship didn't last long. Before long, Adams and Moore had reunited and were soon after engaged.

"He's a good egg," Moore told the new issue of Marie Claire, reports Just Jared. "I'm in awe of him: his brain, his passion. He's truly one of a kind."

Shanna Moakler, the ex-wife of Travis Barker and the mother of their 4-year-old son, Landon, and 2-year-old daughter, Alabama, issued a statement on Monday (September 22) regarding the plane crash in which four people were killed and Barker and DJ AM were critically injured on Friday night. Moakler left for Georgia on Saturday to be with Barker in the hospital.

"There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time," the statement reads, according to UsMagazine.com. "We can only ask for prayers as we heal and mourn the loss of our dear friends who we considered part of our family. Our lives will be changed forever."

Moakler was referring to deaths of the four other passengers, including Barker's assistant Chris "Little Chris" Baker and his security guard, Charles Still, 25. Barker and DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) are expected to recover fully.

Barker and Moakler starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers," which chronicled their marriage. Although the pair divorced in 2004, UsMagazine.com reports that they are back together.

According to media reports, DJ AM's ex-girlfriend Mandy Moore visited him and Jermaine Dupri visited Barker in the days since the accident. Also, several of the pair's friends and colleagues have issued statements or wished them love and support.

A statement from the families of both artists thanks fans and friends for their support. "The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern," the statement says. "Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash."

As friends and family rush to Augusta, Georgia's Joseph M. Still Burn Center to be with Travis Barker and DJ AM (born Adam Goldstein) — who are recovering from serious burns they suffered in a plane crash on Friday night — thoughts and prayers continue to pour in from other friends and peers, such as Paul Wall, the Game and Yung Berg.

Producer Jermaine Dupri visited Barker in the hospital on Sunday, according to UsMagazine.com, and said that though the situation was very serious, the former Blink-182 drummer was doing well.

"It's a seriously sad situation," Dupri said. "He's doing good ... but I really hate to see my friends go through this."

Barker's ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, flew in on Saturday, and AM's former girlfriend Mandy Moore was also spotted at the burn center on Sunday. An unnamed source told TMZ.com early Monday that AM is "ambulatory and in good spirits."

While Barker is best known as part of the punk-pop band Blink-182, his formidable drumming and production skills have earned him deep respect from the hip-hop community, thanks to his energetic beats on remixes of songs by Soulja Boy Tell'em and Flo Rida.

Speaking on Cincinnati urban radio station 101.1 the WIZ on Saturday night, Yung Berg paused to send out condolences to those killed in the crash and best wishes and prayers to Barker and AM. Fall Out Boy, Beanie Sigel, Lindsay Lohan and other celebrities have also sent out messages over the weekend.

The Game also weighed in, telling AllHipHop.com that he was "deeply hurt" by the news of the deadly crash. "Travis Barker has always been there for me when I needed him creatively. We've done many songs together," the Game said. "Just recently he appeared in my video ['Dope Boyz'] that he featured on. I respect and love him. My prayers are with him and his family in this difficult time for his speedy and complete recovery."

Barker is also close with rapper Paul Wall, with whom he formed an all-star group called Expensive Taste. "It's so shocking and unexpected. Travis and AM are such generous people. They would literally give you the shirt off their back," Wall told AllHipHop. The rapper also commented on Chris Baker, one of four people killed in the crash, saying, "And Lil Chris was such a great friend. He was down for life. I feel so bad for his wife and son that are going through such a hard time right now. Family is something very important to Travis and Chris. We all gotta pull together right now."

As of Sunday, AM and Barker were still in critical but stable condition after the crash, which officials say may have been caused by a blown tire. Doctors said that they suffered second- and third-degree burns but are expected to recover fully. Barker sustained burns on his torso and lower body, and AM was burned on his arm and head. An official at the hospital said that neither sustained any other physical injuries, but they could be hospitalized for weeks.

"Anybody who can survive a plane crash is pretty lucky," Dr. Fred Mullins, medical director of the Still Burn Center told reporters during a news conference Sunday morning.
Killed in the crash were pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31; co-pilot James Bland, 52; Barker's assistant and close friend Chris "Little Chris" Baker, 29; and security guard Charles Still, 25.

In addition to friends and family, The Associated Press reported that several fans visited the hospital over the weekend. "I was just shocked when I first heard it, and I knew that I had to do something," said Ryan Meadows, a 19-year-old college student from Augusta.

A statement from the families of both artists thanked fans and friends for their support. "The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern," the statement read. "Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash."

It may only be August, but Mandy Moore has already packed in a year's worth of material with two big studio releases — "Because I Said So" and "License to Wed" — as well as an album and accompanying tour that just kicked off. She's also journeying back to indie-film territory (remember her turn in "Saved!"?) with actor Justin Theroux's directorial debut, "Dedication," which hits theaters Friday. Playing opposite Billy Crudup ("Almost Famous," the upcoming "Watchmen"), Moore plays a children's-book artist who is forced to team up with a nihilistic author (Crudup) grieving over the death of his previous collaborator.

We caught up with the always-peppy Moore about her latest flick, her upcoming turn as a tattooed rock and roll chick and what musical she's dying to do.

(Watch Moore gush about her unlikely role in the season premier of "How I Met Your Mother.")

MTV: Tell me about that first meeting with Justin where you talked about potentially doing the film.

Mandy Moore: I was very nervous to meet him. I read [the script] and I was like, "Wow, this is very well-written, and Billy [Crudup]'s attached and Tom [Wilkinson]'s attached. They would never consider someone like me to be a part of this movie." I think I met with Justin just kind of thinking, "Congratulations, man. Good luck with this!"

MTV: Are you always so pessimistic?

Moore: It's not pessimism! If anything, I was just being realistic and setting myself up to not be disappointed.

MTV: How did your character, Lucy, strike you on the page?

Moore: I definitely related to her in the sense that we're both patient people and ambitious and determined. She's a lot stronger than I am, especially with what she's faced with. She has this insanely overbearing mother, and then she's put in this work situation with this guy who's just this misogynist and he doesn't want to work with her and he puts her down. And yet, she's resilient. She's a lot tougher a cookie than I think I ever would be.

MTV: At this point do you get intimidated by actors like Billy?

Moore: It's absolutely intimidating to work with somebody like Billy. He raises your game. You sort of have to step up to the plate and go, "This is the time to rise to the occasion." But he doesn't take himself seriously. And he's super-humble and very gracious and kind. He and Justin are very good friends, so they joked around a lot and that put me at ease. But when it was time to work, I was like, "Cool, let's do it!" I left work every day feeling, "God, that felt really good to stretch those muscles and challenge myself a bit."

MTV: Billy's character has some pretty odd quirks, including a need to place heavy objects on himself to feel safe. Do you have any quirks in the same league?

Moore: [She laughs.] Not even remotely comparable. Before I go onstage to sing, I like a mug of green tea with honey. I'm very particular about it though. I have to have it. I have to have my green tea and honey or else I'm just not going to sing. There you have it.

MTV: Earlier this year you were in two big studio comedies. Where's your head at now in terms of the types of films you want to do?

Moore: I think I'd like to concentrate on doing more indie stuff. I think it gives you the mobility and freedom to be creative and not necessarily have you answer to any studio and suits standing behind and millions of producers and just a bunch of cooks in the kitchen. It's so much easier. And you know that people are there for the right reasons when you're doing an indie film.

MTV: I heard you're appearing in the season premiere of "How I Met Your Mother."

Moore: I just did that last week! I had so much fun! First of all, I'm so obsessed with the show now. I had seen a couple episodes and thought it was very, very funny, but it is so well-written and everybody on the show is just the best. I was like, "Please have me back!" I get to play this tattooed, crazy rebel.

MTV: Is that fun for you, to play against your image?

Moore: [She laughs.] I'm playing slightly against type. I had to have this crazy rock and roll hair and miniskirt and fishnets. I'm making out with a guy. I was just like, "Whoa! This is so atypical for me!" But yeah, that's the fun of doing stuff like that.

MTV: Do you know what's going on with "Southland Tales"? (See "Timberlake A Disfigured Iraq War Vet, Gellar A Porn Star In 'Tales.' ")

Moore: I know nothing about it! I've never seen the movie. I don't even know if I'm still in the movie.

MTV: The director, Richard Kelly, has reportedly said you're still in it.

Moore: Oh, he did, did he? [She laughs.] Thank you, Richard. I'm anxious to see it. I think he's a genius. He's such a cool guy. And the script was so beyond me I couldn't even begin to tell you what the movie is about, but I had fun. I played the Rock's wife. I literally shot for four days.

MTV: Was the shoot chaotic?

Moore: Yes, it was chaotic. [Kelly] asked me to do the film a week before they started shooting. I was like, "Oh, um, yeah, OK, what is it about?" I just sort of decided to jump in headfirst. It was a great experience, but I still couldn't tell you what I did.

MTV: Are you interested in doing a movie musical?

Moore: I am unbelievably intrigued by it. I am a huge musical-theater fan. I would love to do a musical. It just has to be the right one.

MTV: Is there one that's close to your heart?

Moore: I would love to do "Guys and Dolls." When they do "Guys and Dolls" one day I will be first in line. I have to play Adelaide. I have to. That's a dream project for me.

Ja Rule's Sunday arrest in New York on a single felony weapon count was "another instance of hip-hop targeting," according to the rapper's attorney, Stacey Richman. She claims the .40-caliber Taurus pistol police recovered from inside the 2004 Maybach that Ja was riding in when he was arrested belonged to someone else. Ja; his driver, Mohamed Gamal; and his road manager, Dennis Cherry, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and spent Sunday night in jail. The three were arraigned Monday afternoon, and Ja (born Jeffrey Atkins) was released on $150,000 bond. He's expected back in Manhattan Criminal Court November 7. According to Richman, the car in question was a company vehicle owned by Gamal's Maximum Transportation firm and is used by his clients. "If you get a car, and something's left in the car, is that yours?" Richman wondered. "How you can ascribe that anybody knows what's in a car?" She also contends that the car was stopped about a block away from the Beacon Theatre and that it had been "parked outside for two and a half hours, with the police department, and they ran the plates — they could have just handed out a ticket then, but they didn't. They waited for [Ja Rule] to get into the car." As for the speeding claims, Richman simply doesn't believe them: "Why would he speed for one block? What, he's going to speed to the next light on Broadway? Come on." The prosecutor's office would not comment on Ja Rule's arrest. ...

G-Unit's Tony Yayo was in court Tuesday morning (July 24) in connection with charges of harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, the 14-year-old son of Game manager Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond. According to Yayo's lawyer Scott Leemon, the rapper rejected a plea offer that would have him serve nine months in jail, and the case was adjourned until September 6. Leemon said the judge in the case asked for more time to make a decision on whether he will enforce subpoenas issued by Leemon to the public-relations firm for Rosemond's Czar Entertainment record label. Leemon would not discuss what information he is seeking from the PR firm. ...

R. Kelly is still feeding off his recent Double Up set, but he's already got another treat in store for next month: Ten new episodes in his "Trapped in the Closet" series. In his latest go-'round, R. dresses as a preacher in a wig — and even more amusingly, from the sound of it, an old man with a fake belly and beard, Billboard.com reports. A DVD encompassing the 10 eps will hit stores August 21, but you can catch them prior to that on, oddly enough, the Independent Film Channel. ... Lindsay Lohan's wax statue at Madame Tussauds in New York has a new addition: It's now dressed in black and white prison stripes. The museum pulled the same move with Paris Hilton's statue when the heiress went to jail. ...

Tupac Shakur's estate is trying to stop the late rapper's former label, Death Row Records, from selling his unreleased recordings as part of a bankruptcy settlement. Shakur's mother, Afeni, sought an injunction in federal bankruptcy court Friday, claiming the label was trying to sell Shakur material that belonged to the rapper's estate and should have been turned over to it as part of a 1997 agreement with Death Row. Shakur's lawyer Donald N. David said that during the label's bankruptcy proceedings, "it was revealed that an album's worth of unreleased Tupac material was being advertised to potential buyers as the jewel in the crown of the Death Row assets." ...

A Los Angeles judge has refused to dismiss Phil Spector's murder charge or reduce it to manslaughter on Tuesday, The Associated Press reports. Prosecutors rested their case Monday, and one of the attorneys said they might not even have to show the music producer pulled the trigger to the gun that killed actress Lana Clarkson in order for Spector to be convicted. "He had the gun in his home, loaded with his bullets," said Alan Jackson, who added that prosecutors only need to show that Spector pointed the gun at Clarkson. "Whether he pulled the trigger, whether he sneezed or she slapped his hand away or there was an earthquake — it doesn't matter. It's implied malice." The defense argued that implied malice wasn't shown and that the prosecution didn't support its second-degree-murder theory, so the charge should be dismissed or reduced. "It's very clear to me ... that there's more than enough substantial evidence to support a conviction if there was one," Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said, refusing the motion. ...

"He has been a key advisor and has been an important force in my success to date. I really regret how this has turned out and I apologize to those whom I have done disservice.

"Hallows" be thy name: The final installment of the Harry Potter series racked up some big numbers over the weekend (surprised?). Scholastic says roughly 8.3 million copies of the book sold in the first 24 hours upon its release Saturday, with Borders, Amazon and Barnes & Noble all reporting more than 1 million copies sold each. The sales were impressive in the U.K., where the book sold 2.7 million copies in the first 24 hours, and in Canada, where it moved about 812,000 in its first 48 hours. Daniel Radcliffe had his own reason to celebrate Monday (July 23): The actor turned 18, gaining access to a fortune that is the U.S. equivalent of roughly $40 million. ...

Freestyle king Lil' Flip turned himself in on a felony charge of credit-card abuse on Saturday after authorities said he tried to buy a $671 Southwest Airlines ticket to Baltimore from Houston in June using an American Express card held by someone else. Flip, 26 (born Wesley Eric Weston Jr.), was booked and released on $2,000 bond, according to the Houston Chronicle. Lil' Flip's attorney and manager addressed the allegations on Monday. "Flip had absolutely no involvement with any sort of credit card fraud," Sandy Lal said in a statement.

It's all about "The Simpsons Movie" this week, as the much-anticipated flick opens Friday, but some people haven't forgotten about the show's upcoming 19th season — namely Jack Black, Lionel Richie, Topher Grace and MTV News' own Kurt Loder, all of whom will be paying guest appearances. Black will voice the character of Milo, who scares Comic Book Guy by opening up a competing store. In other "Simpsons" news, Matt Groening has finally 'fessed up to where he got the idea for Marge Simpson's blue beehive. He told The New York Times Magazine in an interview published Sunday that her 'do was inspired by "The Bride of Frankenstein" and his own mom's hairstyle in the '60s. ...

The Arcade Fire aren't burning out anytime soon — the indie-rockers have extended their tour with LCD Soundsystem with four additional dates: September 30 in St. Paul, Minnesota; October 3 in Louisville, Kentucky; October 5 in Columbus, Ohio; and October 6 at New York's Randall's Island. ... The Shins are tacking a cover of Pink Floyd's "Breathe" onto their "Turn Me On" U.K. single. ...

The Reverend Al Sharpton is supporting New York State Senator Antoine Thompson's idea to penalize record companies that don't crack down on denigrating lyrics by pulling the state's public investments from them, The Associated Press reports. According to Thompson, about $3 billion of the state's pension fund is invested in the entertainment industry. ... Iconic indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry — which has issued albums by the White Stripes, Hole, Rocket From the Crypt and a slew of others over the years — is up on the block, according to Idolator.com. Owner Long Gone John is pricing the label and its "questionable/nebulous rights to nearly 750 releases by over 550 bands" at "$625,000, or $700,000 if I don't like you." ...

There have been some lineup changes in Perry Farrell's Satellite Party project. Former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt jumped ship last week, saying, "I have always felt uncomfortable with the direction of the lineup and live show. I truly do believe in the songs and music on the album, and I wish Perry Farrell and any musician that remains on tour all the best." Drummer Kevin Figg also opted to leave, but no reason was offered for his departure. In their place, Farrell has recruited Silvertide guitarist Nick Perri and drummer Jordan Plosky, who has worked with Ryan Cabrera in the past. ...

Babyface, Queen Latifah, Garth Brooks and others will perform at a concert to raise funds for a Martin Luther King Jr. memorial at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on September 18. The event, set to take place at New York's Radio City Music Hall, will also feature previously announced artists Stevie Wonder, Robin Thicke and more. ... Jeff Beck's manager tells Billboard.com that, contrary to a report the site published Friday, the guitarist is not planning to tour with Jimmy Page and others as the Yardbirds this fall.

'License To Wed' Was One Big 'Office' Party, Thanks To John Krasinski

SANTA MONICA, California — One is a fast-rising TV star, nervously making the transition to feature films. Another is a sometime pop singer, hoping to establish herself as an adult leading lady. Then there's the third actor — an Oscar-winning living legend looking to prove he's still got it.

With "License to Wed" having hit theaters Tuesday (July 3), we'll now be able to decide if it's any good, but this much we already knew: It's one of the more intriguing studio films to pop up in the hotly contested Hollywood summer of 2007.

"I think the funniest thing about weddings is the tension that is palpable in the air," John Krasinski said recently, talking about the little-comedy-that-could starring himself, Mandy Moore and Robin Williams. "As the day goes on, everybody sort of lightens up — and that could be the alcohol. But the preparation for a wedding, when people lose sight of what the day's all about, get so stressed out and emotional? I think that leaves room for some pretty good comedy."

In the eyes of 23-year-old Moore, "License" is a refreshing alternative to Transformers, pirates and superheroes — and, more personally, it's a chance to get past teen flicks like "Chasing Liberty" and "Saved!" while presenting herself as a credible, comedic blushing bride. "What's funny is all the crazy trials and tribulations and tests that our characters are put through as a couple in order to be certified to get married," said Moore, whose Sadie goes through a marriage-preparation class with fiance Ben that includes robot babies, blindfolded driving and absolute abstinence. "It all sounds pretty insane. Robin Williams' character really puts us through the ringer."

"John is very physical; he always wants to touch me," grinned Robin Williams, insisting that he learned just as much from his two young co-stars as they did from him. "Mandy, she has a whole psychic thing, where she does this [eye-rolling] and communicates her lines psychically. ... They are two sexy people and fun and really funny. There's a sweetness and a kindness about them that makes life really lovely, and for me, that was nice too — because that was before I went to rehab."

As you can see, each of these three stars are launching "Wed" with something to prove. But as far as nerves are concerned, Williams' rehabilitation and Moore's post-"American Dreamz" reinvention would seem to pale in comparison to Krasinski's first starring role.

"To be honest, this is my first big movie, so I was terrified every day," the lanky, 27-year-old actor said.

To make the transition easier, Krasinksi said, he surrounded himself with as many people from "The Office" as he could find. "To come in and see familiar faces really made it nice; I felt like I was at home," he said of the cast, which includes Mindy "Kelly" Kaling, Angela "Angela" Kinsey, Brian "Brian" Baumgartner and director Ken Kwapis. "Ken being at the helm, who directs a lot of our episodes, was fun. He found a similarity of how he directs the show and tried to use some of the subtlety and the specifics of what it means to be in a relationship. Then, as far as having all those guys on set ... it was a blast."

"I'm a big fan of 'The Office,' " Moore said of the increasingly popular NBC show. "With Ken being a producer of the show, and having directed a bunch of the episodes, and John's involvement in this movie as well, it totally sold me. ... But then we kept getting all these fun cameos from Angela and Mindy and Brian — and being a big fan of the show, I was like, 'Cool, what "Office" castmember is coming by today, guys?' "

If enough "Office" fans get up off the couch and make their way to the movie theaters, who knows? Maybe "License to Wed" could become a sleeper hit for those who'd rather watch Williams playing the fast-talking Reverend Frank than Shia LaBeouf running away from a green screen. And if that's the case, maybe real-life wedding-prep classes will similarly take off.

"I [agree with] anything that gives you a running start, some tools," reasoned Robin Williams. "The passion? The sex? That's your call. There are manuals for that, different courses — some of them are hands-on, and some of them are videotapes."

Flashing a grin, the veteran comedian began making boom-chicka-wow-wow guitar noises. "You know, the bad porn ... I am the plumber," he laughed. "Courses that would help you, that would be cool. ... Anything that gives you any knowledge of your partner is helpful."

Knowledge of your partner is also important to Mandy Moore — who realized during filming that the more she learned about Krasinski's opinionated and quirky character, the more she unearthed details about the real-life lucky stiff who'll eventually capture her heart.

"It's important to be with someone for me — personally at least — that is opinionated. But I also like someone that's a bit more low-key and mellow at the same time," the actress revealed. "John's character, Ben, is so charming and agreeable and sweet and funny — and those are all characteristics that I would look for in a potential guy."

Judging by the way she's talking these days, if wedding-preparation classes do soar with "License," Mandy might want to go ahead and reserve herself a desk.
