Metallica, Limp Bizkit, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the acts announced on the lineup for the 7th Annual KROQ Weenie Roast and Luau, which will take place on June 19 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.
The Lo Fidelity Allstars, Eve 6, the Freestylers, Lit, and (at press time) the errant Pennywise are scheduled to perform on the event's second stage. On the KROQ show "Loveline" Monday night, Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge drunkenly demanded that hosts Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew introduce the band onstage (see "Pennywise Guitarist Holds 'Loveline' Hosts Hostage In Drunken Fit").
The tickets are only available as giveaways to KROQ listeners at this point, but they will be going on sale to the public shortly. The proceeds will be donated to Jobs for Future/Homeboy Industries, an organization targeting gainful employment for at-risk youth.

The Crystal Method, Orbital, and the Lo Fidelity Allstars will head out on the road together this summer for the inaugural edition of the Community Service Tour, beginning July 4 in Chicago.
Organizers behind the electronica festival are still hammering out venues for the outing, which came about when the Crystal Method and Orbital decided to combine forces after originally planning to launch separate U.S. tours in July.
Each Community Service concert will run approximately six hours with each act delivering a full-length set, and DJ John Kelley will spin records during the set changes.
"We're big fans of everyone on this tour," Crystal Method's Ken Jordan explained in a release announcing plans for the 18-city fest. "In fact, Orbital was the first band Scott and I ever saw perform live. This will be the way all concerts should be, all killer and no filler. It's not like waiting an hour, a band plays and then some roadie puts in a Foghat tape."
Even though the tour won't
kick off for almost two months, there are already discussions about making Community Service an annual happening with a rotating cast of electronica acts.
Despite the already crowded summer market, representatives for the Community Service artists are confident that the lineup is strong enough to be a viable draw and bring in its share of fans.
"The Crystal Method and Orbital have built up reputations as live concert acts," offered Crystal Method's manager, Richard Bishop. "People buy a ticket to see them for the same reasons they buy a ticket to see Korn or Pearl Jam or any other rock act."
The early itinerary for the Community Service Tour:

7/4 - Chicago, IL
7/6 - Detroit, MI
7/7 - Cleveland, OH
7/8 - Pittsburgh, PA
7/9 - New York, NY
7/10 - Boston, MA
7/11 - Philadelphia, PA
7/13 - Jacksonville, FL
7/14 - Atlanta, GA
7/15 - New Orleans, LA
7/16 - Austin, TX
7/17 - Dallas, TX
7/18 - Tulsa, OK
7/20 - Phoenix,

The Lo Fidelity Allstars, one of the purveyors of England¹s big beat sound, released their album "How To Operate With A Blown Mind" in the States in January, but the group's first U.S. hit is a surprising remix of "Battleflag," an 18-month old song by Pigeonhed, which is a side project of the Seattle-based band Brad.
While the Lo Fidelity Allstars replaced the music of the original Sub Pop Records release of "Battleflag," the group retained most of Pigeonhed's lyrics, but as Allstars DJ Phil "Albino Priest" Ward told MTV News, a few of Pigeonhed's lyrics were surreptitiously lifted from an unlikely, and unhappy source.
"Turns out some of their lyrics they had taken from the Prince song," Ward said,
The remix of "Battleflag" no longer has lyrical ties to Prince. Since the release of the album "How To Operate With A Blown Mind," two members of the Lo Fidelity Allstars have quit, most notably singer Dave "Wrekked Train" Randall who is said to be pursuing a solo career.
Despite the internal shakeup, the Lo Fidelity Allstars are wrapping up their first U.S. tour, with final stops in San Francisco on Friday and Los Angeles on Saturday.

With the Lo Fidelity Allstars hypnotic new single, "Battleflag," starting to make commercial in-roads here in the states, the British big beat outfit is about to launch its first extended road outing of the U.S. -- although the group has undergone a series of personnel changes since it made its American debut at last fall's CMJ Music Festival in New York City.
Last December, vocalist Wrekked Train left the group prior to a series of British tour dates, having decided that he wanted his normal life back after a year of relentless touring in the Lo-Fi's homeland. He was temporarily replaced by Albino Priest, who appears on the "Battle Flag," although its believed the band will employ the use of sampled vocals for its U.S. tour.
Around the same time, keyboardist Sherif Jon Stone opted out of the band as well, although he had sat a series of Lo Fi concerts since early September, according to the group's U.S. representative. For the upcoming tour, the Lo-Fidelity Allstars have tapped
a friend, Sanj from Indian Ropeman, to provide the necessary keyboard accompaniment.
The dates for the Lo Fidelity Allstars upcoming tour:

3/2 - Chicago, IL @ Double Door
3/4 - Toronto, ON @ Lee's Palace
3/5 - Montreal, QC @ Sona
3/6 - Boston, MA @ Axis
3/8 - New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
3/10 - Washington, DC @ Black Cat
3/12 - Atlanta, GA @ Cotton Club
3/13 - Orlando, FL @ Sapphire Supper Club
3/14 - Miami, FL @ Cameo
3/17 - Dallas, TX @ Deep Ellum Live
3/18 - Austin, TX @ La Zona Rosa
3/20 - Denver, CO @ Bluebird Theater

In an age of sonic experimentation, it's not easy to sound fresh.

However, in the current been-there-done-that pop music climate, the Lo-Fidelity Allstars's meld of rock and DJ culture is rising above the fray... perhaps not for being first, but at least for being better.

The English group's debut album, "How To Operate With A Blown Mind," has earned raves from critics, who hail it as a "raucous pastiche of hip hop beats, funk bass lines, disco hedonism, and postpunk attitude" and the place "where rock and turntablism truly meet."

Europe has already gotten with the program, and now the group has set it sights on the States, where their single with Pigeonhead, "Battle Flag," is starting to pick up steam.

The Lo-Fi Allstars will try to take it to the next level with a Stateside tour next month, and took some time to chat with MTV News about playing to the States. They also talked about their penchant for setting turntables on fire, the troubles they faced
when sampling Prince, and the art of the remix. You can check out those topics, and much more, here in our MTV News Online feature, where they also talk about fusing rock and dance elements and their upcoming mix album.

Enjoy...

ANAHEIM, California — Creed vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti will start working nights this week as they resume writing the follow-up to 1999's smash Human Clay.
Refreshed from taking the holidays off, the songwriting duo plans to buckle down four nights a week and pen an album that intensifies the larger-than-life feel of its predecessor.

"It's gonna be more extreme on all extremities — the harder stuff a little harder, the epic stuff a little more epic," Tremonti said Saturday.

Creed plan to spend the next few months writing before heading into the studio in July and hopefully releasing the disc in October or November. Tremonti said the band, which worked with longtime friend and producer John Kurzweg on both My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay, has not picked a producer for the album.

The spiritual Florida rockers parted ways with bass player and founding member Brian Marshall in August and hired Brett Hestla as their touring bassist. Hestla will be working on an album with his group Virgos while Creed are recording their LP as a trio, but the bands are considering a joint fall tour after both albums hit stores. Hestla said he would play both sets.

Tremonti, Hestla and Creed drummer Scott Phillips attended last weekend's National Association of Music Merchants trade show in Anaheim, where Paul Reed Smith Guitars unveiled Tremonti's new signature model.

Tremonti said he had been working with PRS to design the guitar for about a year. "It's the baddest guitar on the planet. It's a technically perfect, thick, massive-sounding guitar. I think it's the best in the world today."
Creed, who cleaned up at several recent award ceremonies, are up for two Grammys next month. "With Arms Wide Open" is nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Rock Song, the latter of which would go to its songwriters, Tremonti and Stapp.

"A Grammy would be great — I'm just not gonna count on it," Tremonti said. "We've won a lot of awards this year, and I'm happy about 'em. If we don't win a Grammy, we don't win a Grammy. We've got a lot more albums ahead. But we're up for two of them, so we'll keep our fingers crossed."
For much more on Creed, don't forget to check out the MTV News Online feature Creed: Higher Learning"
