Lego Johnson is the new secret alter-ego live band incarnation of international DJ/ remixers The Loose Cannons. Having spent 2010 consolidating their reputation as club & festival favorites on the decks and putting out solid, critically acclaimed remixes for everyone from Rihanna to Katy Perry and Justice to Lady Gaga, the duo simultaneously decided that their own new record would have to reflect the seismic shift they themselves were both sensing & hungering for in the scene. So it was that they recruited three new players and set about making a proper, balls to the wall live rock album - drums, bass, guitars - the lot. And all of this with a view to take a real live, tasty, nasty, big show out on the road in 2011. The London-based five-piece have already begun stirring up trouble on the live circuit, with sold-out, secret shows at 229 & the infamous Troubadour in Earl's Court, the buzz from which generating interest as far afield as Dubai, Paris and closer to home in Leeds and of course their hometown. Those who caught the old Loose Cannons live band can attest to the fact that they always knew how to put on a charismatic, kinetic show - but this new Johnson creation is an entirely different animal; punk fused with Bolan - Victorian Horror with drums & keytars. The first single "Television" caught the ear of Extreme Music who, in partnership with MTV, immediately snapped them up and signed them to their brand new Hype Music label. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their album, bang on time for the festivals. Catch Lego Johnson now before they're blowing up the coolest tents & stages of your summer...
