A Malaysian hip-hop/pop hybrid trio made up of brothers Norman Abdul Halim, Yusry Abdul Halim, and Edry Abdul Halim, KRU -- pronounced as an acronym, yet not actually one -- formed in 1992 at the behest of a well-known producer who fell in love with a demo of their work. The band was soon signed to Warner Asia, which released the debut, Canggih. KRU went on to record and release more than ten more albums, and the band used its regional popularity to diversify their interests, with the KRU Studios family of companies getting involved with entertainment ventures such as film, marketing, music production, and advertising. ~ Chris True, Rovi
