Lauryn Hill's renewed writing efforts aren't limited to her upcoming album. The singer/songwriter contributed the lyrics for "All My Time" to fellow New Jersey denizens Kool & the Gang for the '80s R&B hitmakers' new release, Gangland, due August 21.

In addition to founding members Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell (now known as Muhammad Bayyan and Khalis Bayyan, respectively), the album will feature appearances by younger acts signed to the group's KTFA Entertainment label. Bayyan's son Da Prince Hakim is featured on the first single, "Bigg Thangs," while Khalis' son Rachid handles the vocals on "Jungle in My House."

The group is also working on the DVD Kool & the Gang Live for September 11 release as well as a Bill Duke-produced film based on the group's Jersey City roots.

October 7 [12:00 EDT] -- It's been 20 years since John Travolta donned his dancing shoes and changed the course of music with the popularization of disco.

While not all music lovers consider this an event to celebrate, an anniversary concert is being staged in the same club featured in Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever" and it's scheduled to include the top bands of the disco decade.

The show takes place Saturday, November 1 at the Original 2001 Odyssey in Bayridge, Brooklyn. The club is being restored to its original splendor (or as close as possible), complete with the dancefloor lighting that became synonymous with the era.

Tickets are only available through the sponsoring radio station, New York's KTU.

Headlining the event is the Bee Gees, whose soundtrack renditions of the movie's title song and other cuts like "Night Fever" and "Stayin' Alive" ushered in the era. Joining the brothers Gibb will be K.C. & the Sunshine Band, Kool & the Gang, Tavares, The Trammps, and Denny Terio. KTU is also putting out a national call to locate singer Yvonne Elliman, whose song, "If I Can't Have You," was one of ten Top 40 hits generated by the album.

The soundtrack was released in August, 1977 and remained lodged in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard album charts for 24 weeks.
