Juvenile Down For Hot Boys Reunion With Lil Wayne

Before Lil Wayne became the solo rap superstar he is today, he was making his mark as a member of a noted hip-hop group: The Hot Boys consisted of Juvenile, B.G., Turk and a teenaged Tunechi, and together they broke down doors for independent Southern artists everywhere by establishing Cash Money Records as a musical powerhouse.

The quartet dropped their debut LP, Get It How U Live!!, in 1997, which they followed two years later with their platinum sophomore album, Guerilla Warfare, but the group was rendered defunct after Juvie, B.G. and Turk left Cash Money to take on new ventures. Fans have since longed for a reunion.

On Wednesday's "RapFix Live," Juvenile said of a reunion, "It's possible. As long as Juvie living, it's definitely possible."

Though he isn't signed to YMCMB, Juvie maintains a relationship with both Wayne and Birdman. "I got a relationship with Cash Money; me and Baby still cool. We don't talk every day, but we do talk, and we can stand in a room together. It's not a situation where I'm beefed out with them," he explained.

Add DJ Khaled to the list of folks awaiting a comeback for the group. Sitting next to Juvenile on the "RapFix Live" couch, Khaled said, "I'm a fan first when it comes down to the Hot Boys, and it's the whole Cash Money era, so Juvie already know and Bird already know, I would love to see that."

Unfortunately, there won't be a full Hot Boys reunion any time soon because both Turk and B.G. are currently imprisoned. In 2005, Turk was convicted of multiple firearm-possession charges after a 2004 shooting incident with a police officer. In December of last year, B.G. plead guilty to felony weapons-possession charges stemming from a 2009 arrest.

"B.G. got dealt a bad hand," Juvie said. "He'd had his run-ins with the law through the years, so I guess this one caught up with him."

After Tupac Shakur was further immortalized with a posthumous, holographic performance this past weekend at Coachella, many have wondered what other hip-hop legends might get the holo-treatment. The Notorious B.I.G., Eazy-E and Wu-Tang's Ol' Dirty Bastard are just a few examples of rap legends who were taken before their time; Soulja Slim is another.

"That was my 'Pac," Juvenile said of the New Orleans rap icon who was slain in 2003. "I told him that all the time: 'I think you're the greatest rapper in the world. It's a lot of things you just gotta straighten out outside of that.' "

Juvie pondered the possibility of seeing his old friend again onstage when he appeared on Wednesday's (April 18) "RapFix Live." Though he would love nothing more than to see his friend and collaborator get his just due, he did admit to being conflicted about using the holographic technology to bring Slim to the stage.

"I mean, that's a touchy one there. I don't know, man, because I'm so used to seeing him in a certain light, next to me, I put him on a pedestal," he said. "To see him in a hologram — just for him to be put in a sentence with Tupac, I think it would be something good. I can't see nothing bad coming out of it. I think the advancement of technology is a great thing. Just to be able to do that is crazy to me."

DJ Khaled, also a guest on Wednesday's "RFL," marveled when he saw Shakur grace the Coachella stage. "When I see what Dre was doin' with 'Pac, I was excited," he said. "We love 'Pac. I thought it was special."

The charismatic DJ was OK with the somewhat controversial display because it was approved by Tupac's mom, Afeni Shakur. "As long as you talk to the family members and they co-sign it, then we salute it," he said.

Juvenile echoed that sentiment. "That's the same way I feel about Ms. Linda," he said, referencing Soulja Slim's mother. "Just knowing that Ms. Afeni had something to do with it, it's a good thing."

"RapFix Live" is ready to turn up. Last week, Sway welcomed Ace Hood and TDE's Schoolboy Q on the red couch, but this week, he'll have to make even more room because Future, DJ Khaled and Juvenile will all be stopping by to kick it Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com.

On Tuesday, Future is dropping his debut album, Pluto. To celebrate, he will swing through the "RapFix" set and make an appearance on MTV's new weekly talk show "Hip Hop POV" on Wednesday. The "Tony Montana" rapper's first shot features R. Kelly, T.I., Juicy J, Snoop Dogg and Trae Tha Truth. His single "Magic" peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts, and his next record, "Same Damn Time," is starting to bubble as well.

It'll be quite the moment if the rap newcomer crosses paths with veteran MC Juvenile, who will also be in the studio. Juvie began his career as the shining star on Birdman's Cash Money Records. His 1998 LP, 400 Degreez, was a pivotal hip-hop album and ultimately established Cash Money as a musical force to be reckoned with. It spawned singles like "Ha" and the rump-shaking "Back That Azz Up." Juvie left CMR in 2002 and has largely carried on by himself. He dropped his last solo album, Beast Mode, in 2010 and earlier this year released his Mardi Gras mixtape with DJ Smallz.

Now you can't have a party without DJ Khaled. Since 2006, the Miami representative has been carving his lane as a hitmaker. On his debut LP, Listennn... the Album, Khaled paired artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel on high-powered collaborative cuts. He successfully improved on the formula through the years and has delivered with hit records like "I'm So Hood" featuring T-Pain, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Plies, as well as last year's inescapable single "I'm On One" with Drake, Ross and Lil Wayne. Khaled's latest track, "Take It to the Head," partners Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on a single track. His sixth studio album, Kiss the Ring, is due later this year.

Juvenile Arrested For Marijuana Possession In Louisiana

Rapper was pulled over for speeding on Saturday.

Rapper Terius Gray, better known as Juvenile, was arrested on Saturday night in Louisiana for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license, to the Associated Press. The former member of the Hot Boys was reportedly pulled over for going 75 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Subsequent to his arrest, Juvenile was released after posting a $750 bond. He has a court date on April 1.

The arrest is the latest in a string of legal troubles for the "Drop That Thang" MC, who was arrested twice before on drug charges, in January 2003 and in February both times in Louisiana. Juvenile was also arrested in summer 2002 for assaulting his barber.

Juvenile was the focus of unwanted attention in the aftermath of the sudden and violent deaths of his 4-year-old daughter, the girl's mother, Joy Deleston, and another child at the hands of Deleston's then 17-year-old son Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. in 2008. The rapper was criticized for choosing not to attend his daughter's funeral.

"You don't get over things like that. That's something that goes with you for the rest of your life. I'm not even comfortable talking about it. I stayed away from the press, everybody had a million questions," Juvenile said of his daughter's death in a 2009 interview. "I'm not even comfortable talking about it."

Juvenile 'Drop That Thang' Video Premieres -- Watch It Here!

The New Orleans rapper shows he still has love for the curvy beauties in new black-and-white clip.

Juvenile premiered his video for "Drop That Thang" on MTV.com on Friday (June 11), and the New Orleans rapper shows he's back to appreciating the plentiful curves of women.

"Throw that thang this away, drop that, drop that thang," a smiling Juvenile raps over the synthesized sounds.

Directed by Daryn DeLuco, the clip is a crisp visual in black-and-white and finds Juvie joined by a slew of beauties. As the rapper gives a solo performance in a club, he's flanked by a number of buxom, dancing women, all moving to his "drop that thang" chorus. The track is reminiscent of one of Juvenile's biggest hits, "Back That Azz Up," from his seminal major-label debut, 400 Degreez.

"Drop That Thang" is the lead offering from his latest album, Beast Mode, which is set for a July 6 release. The album follows Juvenile's last set, 2009's Cocky & Confident. In addition to his solo material, Juvie has been in discussions to reunite with the Hot Boys — the Cash Money Records supergroup consisting of him, Lil Wayne, B.G. and Young Turk.

Negotiations have slowed the process, however, and for now it seems a reunion is stalled. Wayne's ongoing incarceration certainly hasn't helped matters. B.G. talked about the Hot Boys with MTV News late last year and lamented the sheer number of obstacles.

"I know Wayne's got to face the music with his situation with the system," B.G. said in November. "But we got time. We got a whole bunch of time to put the album together. We record quick. We already got songs done. But I look at it like, if we record from now until whoever gets sentenced or however it go, we still wouldn't be able to put the album out until [Wayne] comes home. When shorty comes home, I know he'll wanna record a whole 'nother album. So you might have a double Hot Boys CD. You never know. I don't know how it will work out."

Juvenile Arrested In New Orleans

Rapper arrested on charge of misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Juvenile's time in the studio was interrupted by a trip to jail on Thursday. The New Orleans rapper was in a house that he uses as a recording studio in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, when police stopped by to investigate an anonymous tip that the smell of marijuana smoke was coming from the house.

Police say that when they arrived, they could smell the smoke from as far as 10 feet away. When Juvenile's producer Leroy Edwards, 42, opened the door, the authorities say they were greeted with a cloud.

Officers searched Edwards, found marijuana on his person and he was handcuffed immediately. Police detained the other people in the house, including Juvenile, for about two hours while they obtained a search warrant.

Once the warrant was executed, officers found a bag containing half an ounce to one ounce of marijuana in the kitchen area. According to the authorities Juvenile, who was eating at the time of the police's visit, acknowledged that the bag was his personal property. He was arrested after signing a statement.

Juvenile (born Terius Gray) does not live in the house. St. Bernard Parish is southeast of New Orleans, and the house where Juvenile was arrested is located in the residential neighborhood of Arabi.

Juvenile, who was arrested for marijuana possession in 2008, and Edwards were taken to jail and booked on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana at around 6 p.m. Both were released on bond a little before midnight. The case is scheduled to be handed over to the district attorney's office for prosecution.

Juvenile could not be reached for comment at press time.

Hot Boys Reunion Stalled By Legal Issues, Jail Time

With Turk currently incarcerated and Lil Wayne and B.G. facing prison sentences, the reunion could be on hold for a bit.

If it were just about the music, the long-awaited Hot Boys reunion probably would have already happened. All four members — Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile and the currently incarcerated Turk — seem to be onboard. There are even some unreleased Turk vocals in the vaults. However, B.G. said that with him and Lil Wayne having problems with the law, it's unlikely a record will drop anytime soon.

"I know I got my own personal dealings to deal with, as far as with the system and things of that nature," said B.G., who was arrested for illegal gun possession recently in Louisiana. Meanwhile, Wayne is expected to be sentenced to a year in prison in a New York court in February.

"I know Wayne's got to face the music with his situation with the system," B.G. added. "But we got time. We got a whole bunch of time to put the album together. We record quick. We already got songs done. But I look at it like, if we record from now until whoever gets sentenced or however it go, we still wouldn't be able to put the album out until [Wayne] comes home. When shorty comes home, I know he'll wanna record a whole 'nother album. So you might have a double Hot Boys CD. You never know. I don't know how it will work out."

Aside from legal woes, the Hot Boys project still poses problems on the business end.

"It's a paperwork thing," B.G. added. "We gotta get the paperwork straight. A lot of lawyers involved, a lot of managers involved — we gotta make sure everything is everything."

Meanwhile, Juvenile is more optimistic. He says he's already received a payment to work on the album.

"We been came to an agreement on that," Juve told us recently. "I already got a check on the new Hot Boys album. I'm probably the only one that has gotten paid. It's all a matter of them getting the business straight with B.G. — I think Wayne is already in — and Turk. Matter of fact, Wayne is in. Wayne is the one who wrote me the check."

Both B.G. and Juvenile say that they have now reconciled with Cash Money Records Co-CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams.

"We spilled our guts out to each other," Juve said of his talks with Birdman. "We put it out on the table. We let bygones be bygones. Let's put all this aside and get money."

Juvenile Talks About His Daughter's 2008 Murder

MC has a new LP on the way, but notes, 'You don't get over things like that.'

Juvenile hasn't released an LP in three years. He's gone through some label reshuffling (his new LP, Cocky and Confident, will be released as a joint venture between Atlantic Records and E1 Music), continued to persevere through the lasting effects of Hurricane Katrina in his hometown of New Orleans, and worst of all, cope with the horrific murder of his 4-year-old daughter Jelani in early 2008.

The child was slain along with her mother Joy Deleston, 39; and Deleston's daughter Micaiah, 11, in their home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Deleston's 17-year-old son, Anthony Tyrone Terrell, was arrested for all three murders and charged with aggravated assault as well.

Juvenile says it's impossible to fully heal from a tragedy of that scale.

"Time, man," he explained about how he has coped. "You don't get over things like that. That's something that goes with you for the rest of your life. I don't know, man, just time to yourself. I'm not even comfortable talking about it. I stayed away from the press, everybody had a million questions. I'm not even comfortable talking about it."

Juve said he's relied on his family as a support system.

"I got a great wife, good brother, great momma. My family is good," he described.

When he refocused on his musical career, Juve chose to get back to some of the material that brought him to prominence in the late '90s: the streets and partying.

"I'm moving around a little bit," he said modestly. "I got one record with Pleasure P called 'Hands on You,' it's a ladies' record. I got another one called 'Gotta Get It.' It's doing real good on radio. It's one of your regular Juve records, follows in the trend of 'Ha.' One of those rough, rugged, first records I always come with."

Hot Boys Move Forward With Reunion Plans

'I already signed the deal,' Juvenile tells Vibe magazine

It looks like the long-awaited Hot Boys reunion is out of the talking stages and getting serious. Money has been spent to ensure the reunion happens.

"I already signed the deal," Juvenile told Vibe contributor Alison Fensterstock in March. The interview went up on Vibe.com Thursday.

"So for me, I'm gonna definitely say it's a go," Juvenile said. "I already received the check. Wayne is going to put that out, so for me and Wayne, it's a go. I don't know if the business been straightened out, but I know B.G.'s on board and he's willing to do it. I don't know where Turk stands on the business side."

Last year, Hot Boy alums Lil Wayne, B.G. and Juvenile were hyped to join each other onstage at a New Orleans club. But before they had a chance to make it to the venue, shots rang out outside the club and the party was shut down.

"It was going to be a big, historic moment," B.G. told MTV News. "I was just saying that everybody was cool during the All-Star Weekend, then they start shooting. Why'd they have to shoot up on our night? Guess that's Chopper City for ya."

When we spoke to Lil Wayne that same day, Weezy said he was not going to the club to get with his old group but was open to working with them in the future. Late last year before the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Weezy told Mixtape Monday a reunion was in the works, but didn't know when it would launch.

Since the Hot Boys' breakup — amidst business fallouts with Slim and Baby, the heads of Cash Money Records — they've traded disses with one another and reconciled. Last year Juvenile suffered the murder of his daughter, while B.G. was supposed to drop a solo LP on Atlantic Records, but that never surfaced.

Universal Records, Cash Money's distributor, had no comment as to when the album will be released.

A couple of the guys were missing, but it was certainly a start.

The Cash Money Millionaires reunited Sunday night at Dreams in New Orleans. Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, B.G., Baby and his brother Slim were all at the club for the last night of the Core DJs' annual weekend gathering. Hot Boy Turk is still incarcerated, and Lil Wayne, enjoying his first overseas trek, is in Europe on tour, so they were not present. Juvenile, who recently lost his daughter in a tragic murder, was said to be in good spirits.

Cash Money had planned to come back together — Turk, B.G., Mannie Fresh and Juvie left the label years ago — in February at the end of the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities, but due to a shooting at the club where the show was supposed to take place, the guys didn't get a chance to re-form.

"It was just going to be a moment in hip-hop history," B.G. said the day after the reunion was supposed to happen. "We all haven't been under the same roof together in over four years. It was gonna be a moment, and who knows what would have happened once we got in there? But due to it being Chopper City and it being New Orleans, they had a shoot-out in front of the club before we could even get there, and three people got shot, so they shut it down.

"I got a phone call saying, 'Gear up, everything is straight — we about to get ready to head out,' " B.G. added. "Then five, 10 minutes later, I got a call saying, 'They shooting around here, don't come.' Then I got a couple of more phone calls saying, 'They got yellow tape 'round here, police got it blocked off, it ain't happening.' ... I think you gonna have all us together real soon. I know it's gonna be before the end of this year."

"I knew nothing of it till I heard about it on the radio," Lil Wayne said of the would-be Cash Money homecoming. "I called [my manager. He] was like, 'Nah, we ain't going to that.' I was like, 'Why?' He said, 'Nobody paid us to go.' Simple as that. That's all I knew about it."

Hopefully Wayne will be kept in the loop once he returns to the States if the guys decide to hook up again. Meanwhile, we can definitely expect Wayne and Juvenile to appear on B.G.'s song "Ya Heard Me." The track was produced by Cool & Dre and appears on Gizzle's upcoming LP Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood. Trey Songz sings on the hook.

"It's the official Hot Boy reunion — the first time in seven years you hear Juvenile, B.G. and Lil Wayne all on the same record," Dre told us last week of his and Cool's production. "And it's crazy. It's coming out really, really soon. It's a record I'm proud of.

"They just got together," he added. "You know they all been going through some sh--. They all been through traumatic things in the past couple months. With Mannie Fresh's sister passing, and Juvenile's daughter, and with all the controversy surrounding Wayne, Birdman had a loss in his family. They lost their city to Katrina. I think this record is going to be healing for New Orleans, because they're the sons of New Orleans. They belong to that city. So when the city hears the record, they're gonna feel good. I'm just happy to be a part of it, to be honest with you. Lil Wayne is singing the hook with Trey Songz. It's just crazy."
