Goldrush is the ultimate D.I.Y. band. After being signed to Virgin Records in April 2001, the group--comprised of brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, and friends--amicably parted ways with the label in October 2002. But instead of waiting around for another record deal, the group started their own record label (Truck Records), built their own studio (Truck Studio) and created their own festival circuit (Truck Festival). As for their truck fixation, the members were inspired by their van breaking down in the small town of Ozona, Texas--a long way from their native soil of Oxford, England. Among Ozona's strip of storefronts, the desolate settlement had a bar and a truck stop. The result was Goldrush's whiskey-soaked sophomore effort Ozona, an album of ethereal indie-rock with hints of alt-country. Blending equal parts Wilco, Pavement, the Replacements and Crazy Horse-era Neil Young, their sophomore disc was a far cry from the polished politeness of their 2002 debut Don't Bring Me Down. In 2005, Goldrush signed to Better Looking Records, and Ozona was released in July of the same year.
