Singer Jakob Printzlau, guitarist Anders Find Axelsen and bassist Christian Lignell Bækholm have been playing together in bands around their hometown of Svendborg, Denmark, since the mid 1990s, the best known of which was Joyphilters. It was after that band's drummer left and they drafted Jakob Ankær Johansen (formerly of hardcore band Lack) to sit behind the kit and invited keyboardist Christoffer Griebel to join the fold that they decided to start anew as The Fashion in 2002.
The first release from The Fashion was a trio of songs that appeared on a limited-edition CD release from indie label North Post. That caught the attention of the majors, leading them to sign with BMG (now SonyBMG) and begin recording their debut, Rock Rock Kiss Kiss Combo in 2003. As the band began to ride a wave of success in Europe, Griebel exited the fold, leaving them with four core members as they scored hits with "Lets Go Dancing" and "Roller Disco Inferno."
The Fashion recorded its second, self-titled album in Copenhagen with Fridolin (Outlandish, Moi Caprice) in summer 2006.
