Nearly a week after the most devastating terrorist attack in U.S. history, artists are still canceling shows and postponing tours as the concert industry struggles to return to some semblance of normalcy.

The "TRL" tour featuring Destiny's Child, Eve, Nelly and City High has been delayed indefinitely, while Britney Spears has nixed her promotional tour of Europe and South America.

Though representatives for the Recording Academy announced last week that the Latin Grammys — slated for September 11, the day of the attacks — would not be rescheduled, an Academy spokesperson said Monday (September 17) that officials are reconsidering whether or not to stage the ceremony.

Shows scheduled for Monday by Stereophonics and Redman were also called off, while Tuesday's postponed or canceled shows include O-Town, Powerman 5000, Earth Wind & Fire and Nick Cave, according to Ticketmaster.com. Judas Priest have rescheduled their imminent tour for early next year.

While other artists, including the Backstreet Boys and Weezer, charged onward, several performers last week announced their decisions to postpone tours, including System of a Down and Slipknot, whose joint Pledge of Allegiance tour will start a week later than planned (see "Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, Pantera, Others Cancel, Postpone Concerts").

The Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine Online Music Awards, scheduled for Thursday (September 20) in New York, have been postponed until further notice, organizers announced. Pete Townshend, Aerosmith, Widespread Panic and Ludacris were to perform.

The Fifteenth Annual Induction Ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was held in New York City on Monday night, honoring such music greats as Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, the Lovin' Spoonful, Billie Holiday, and Nat King Cole, among others.
Rapper Lil' Kim was on hand for the gala event, staged at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, and inducted the soul and funk band Earth, Wind & Fire (see "Eric Clapton, Earth Wind & Fire, James Taylor Selected For Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame"), a group originally founded in 1969 by drummer and vocalist Maurice White.
White recently revealed that he is suffering from Parkinson's disease, but still managed to perform alongside his bandmates on Monday in what Lil' Kim told MTV News was one of the best party bands of all time.
"The song titles alone bring a smile to your face," Lil' Kim said as she recounted several of Earth
Wind & Fire's biggest singles. "'Shining Star,' 'Sing A Song,' 'That's The Way Of The World,' 'September,' 'Boogie Wonderland.' And, of course, one of my favorites, 'Let's Groove' tonight. I mean, I may be young, but I groove to Earth Wind & Fire."
The visceral and lowdown grooves of the blues dominated the evening, as Melissa Etheridge inducted Bonnie Raitt and The Band's Robbie Robertson inducted former Yardbirds and Cream guitarist Eric Clapton for a third time, this time for his solo work.
"For me, it's about the music," Clapton said of becoming the Rock Hall's first triple-inductee. "I'm just the messenger. I carry the message and I hope to be able to do that as long as I live."
VH1 will carry highlights from the ceremony as part of its "Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: Class Of 2000" special, airing on Wednesday at 9 p.m. (ET)

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, the group responsible for selecting artists and performers for the Cleveland-based museum, has just announced plans to offer grants and financial assistance for struggling musicians.
According the "Cleveland Plain Dealer," the Rock Hall Foundation will provide money to cover food, housing, and medical coverage for both inductees and nominees who have fallen on hard economic times.
Suzan Evans, executive director for the foundation, says the Hall will disperse $100,000 to artists in need this year and is hoping to expand the program to include other, non-Hall Of Fame artists in the next few years.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation was established in 1993 by "Rolling Stone" publisher Jann Wenner and Atlantic Records Co-Chairman Ahmet Ertegun.
Consider it the year of "lite rock" for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Eric Clapton, Earth Wind & Fire, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Moonglows, Bonnie Raitt, and James Taylor have all been selected for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, with the Fifteenth Annual Induction Ceremony set for March 6 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
Jazz and blues legends Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday will also be inducted into the Cleveland-based Rock Hall as "Early Influences," while embattled Arista CEO Clive Davis will be inducted as a "Non-Performer."
As talented as the Class of 2000 is, some of the more popular names eligible for induction were passed over. Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, the O'Jays, Lou Reed, Steely Dan, and Richie Valens were all nominated, but they failed to make this year's cut (see "Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Queen, Clapton Lead List Of Nominees For Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Class Of 2000").

Ozzy Osbourne, frontman of the hugely influential Black Sabbath, asked back in October that Sabbath be removed from the Rock Hall ballot, declaring the nomination "meaningless" (see "Ozzy Wants Sabbath's Name Removed From 'Meaningless' Hall Of Fame Ballot").
For the Class of 2000, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame also plans to induct several musicians as part of its new "Side-men" category, which recognizes those performers for their work backing other, more prominent artists.
The first group of "Side-men" to be inducted includes R&B saxophonist King Curtis (who played in both The Coasters as well as Aretha Franklin's band), Motown bassist James Jamerson, drummer Earl Palmer (a veteran of both Little Richard's and Fats Domino's bands), drummer Hal Blaine (of Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound), and longtime Elvis Presley guitarist Scotty Moore.
Clapton becomes the first musician to be triple-inducted into the Rock Hall, as
he was previously honored in 1992 as a member of The Yardbirds and again the following year for his work in Cream.
VH1 will tape the Induction Ceremony on March 6 and air an edited version of the event later that same month.

-- David Basham
