The man who inspired both late Beatle John Lennon and Who guitarist Pete Townshend to play guitar, Lonnie Donegan (born Anthony Donegan), has died, according to the Associated Press. Donegan, 71, known for such songs as "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor (On the Bedpost Over Night)" and "Rock Island Line," introduced "skiffle" music to the U.K. in the 1950s, a mixture of jazz, folk, blues and American cowboy music that uses a combination of conventional and unconventional instruments such as kazoos, washboards and jugs. Both Lennon and Townshend started out in skiffle groups, called, respectively, the Quarrymen and the Detours. ...
