Renowned dance producer BT has just released his third solo album, "Movement In Still Life," and the first single from the LP, "Never Gonna Come Back Down," has just cracked the Top 50 at alternative radio, according to "R&R."

"Never Gonna Come Back Down" was a collaborative effort between BT and former Soul Coughing frontman M. Doughty. The two recently discussed the colorfully bizarre track, which includes biblical allusions as well as references to the comely Charissa Saverio--also known as DJ Rap.

"It's just great," Doughty told MTV News. "For 'Never Gonna Come Back Down,' he just picks the mic up and is like, 'All right, get on the mic.' So, whatever, I just went off the top of my head, talkin' about stuff, and [BT] was like, 'OK, do it again.' So, again, off the top of my head, just talkin', and then a third time."

he continued, "watched a little 'Braveheart,' got my Mel Gibson on, and then I came back upstairs and it was this track. It was the least labor intensive thing I've ever done in music, so I was like, 'I gotta get with this guy.'"

BT also admitted that he was surprised at the ease at which the song and the vocals came together.

"Poor Doughty was like, 'Are you sure you don't want me to do more vocals?'" BT remembered. "I was like, 'No, dude, we got it. We're good, trust me.' It was so cool, because each one of the takes--I mean, we literally [only] did three or four takes--and each one of the takes was about completely dissimilar things."

"On one he was talking about the book of Revelation," BT added.

"Well, the whole first take is me going, 'Oh, DJ Rap, you're so good looking. Brian, give me DJ Rap's phone number, now!" Doughty said. "And the second one is like, 'And the seven thunders uttered from the book of life.'"

"So it ends up making sense in some irrational, surreal sort of way," BT interjected.

"And when we say, 'Never Gonna Come Back Down,' we don't mean drugs," Doughty explained. "Oh, no."

BT said, laughing. "He won't tell me. He was like, 'I'm writing this in code. No one will ever understand.'"

"Yeah, like 'Doubt will be the fire,'" Doughty said, referring to some of the song's lyrics. "I was thinking about that. What the f*** does 'Doubt will be fire of your delight' mean?"

"I have no clue," BT answered. "You wrote it, dude."

"That's what they tell me," [RealVideo] Doughty concluded.

BT and Doughty have also teamed up for another track,
"The Heat And The Hate," that will be featured on Doughty's forthcoming solo album (see "M. Doughty Talks Solo Plans With BT").

As for BT, he is currently gearing up to launch a tour in support of "Movement In Still Life" on July 12 in Orlando, with the rest of the dates currently mapped out as follows:

7/12 - Orlando, FL @ Icon
7/13 - Tampa, FL @ Tampa Amphitheater
7/14 - Fort Lauderdale, FL @ Chili Pepper
7/15 - Jacksonville, FL @ 618
7/20 - Detroit, MI @ State Theatre
7/21 - Morrison, CO @ Red Rocks Amphitheater
7/22 - San Jose, CA @ Santa Clara County Fairgrounds
7/25 - New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
7/27 - Boston, MA @ Axis
7/28 - Minneapolis, MN @ Quest Club
7/29 - Los Angeles, CA @ Giant
7/30 - Las Vegas, NV @ Hard Rock Hotel / Outdoor Pool
8/4 - Chicago, IL @ Crowbar
8/6 - Toronto, ON @ The Guvernment
8/9 - Dallas, TX @ Red

Jungle DJ-turned-diva Charissa Saverio, a.k.a. DJ Rap, released her first album as a singer-songwriter, "Learning Curve," in the U.S. earlier this month, and its winning combination of break beats and pop hooks has been earning praise from critics.
DJ Rap's first mainstream attention in this country came with the single "Good to Be Alive" [RealVideo], which appeared on the soundtrack to the edgy flick "Go." The video for the song finds the singer hanging upside down (while appearing to be right side up) while water ripples, rolls, and splashes across the "ceiling" above her.
"[It] was a completely crazy video," DJ Rap told MTV News. "It was underwater. I was upside down the whole time. It was quite a complicated video, and it was a bit trippy and surreal, and I like those videos that have a bit of an edge."
The clip has an additional cinematic
connection; its liquid special effects were inspired by the work of acclaimed action-film director Luc Besson ("La Femme Nikita," "The Fifth Element"), though the 1988 movie it references is remembered more for its watery setting than for any bloody shoot-'em-ups.
"Have you seen a film called 'The Big Blue?'" asked DJ Rap. "There was a scene where the water was all coming down on this guy, and [the video is] like that. That's what we got the idea from. So you know, I had to shoot it in a harness, and it was major insurance, and it was really funny, but it was taxing. I mean, it's a good job I work out, because otherwise I couldn't have done that video. It was very strenuous, but I loved every minute of it. It was cool. Very cool." [RealVideo]
DJ Rap is currently making live appearances in Europe.
For more on DJ Rap, including additional video, be sure to check out the .

While male DJs like Sasha & Digweed, Roni Size, and Junior Vasquez have dominated dance club turntables throughout the years, Britain's own Charissa Saverio, who spins as DJ Rap, knows that women are as savvy behind the mixing board as the guys.
Already known as a top drum and bass DJ and producer, DJ Rap added "singer-songwriter" to her long resume with the release of her American debut album, "Learning Curve," on Tuesday (see "DJ Rap Gets Eclectic With Big Label Debut").
Still, DJ Rap calls the experience of spinning at a rave, or even a New York record store, the "ultimate orgasm," and she recently told MTV News all about the question she's asked the most, about being a female DJ in a male-dominated world.

"Learning Curve" is in stores now.

ANAHEIM, California — Creed vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti will start working nights this week as they resume writing the follow-up to 1999's smash Human Clay.
Refreshed from taking the holidays off, the songwriting duo plans to buckle down four nights a week and pen an album that intensifies the larger-than-life feel of its predecessor.

"It's gonna be more extreme on all extremities — the harder stuff a little harder, the epic stuff a little more epic," Tremonti said Saturday.

Creed plan to spend the next few months writing before heading into the studio in July and hopefully releasing the disc in October or November. Tremonti said the band, which worked with longtime friend and producer John Kurzweg on both My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay, has not picked a producer for the album.

The spiritual Florida rockers parted ways with bass player and founding member Brian Marshall in August and hired Brett Hestla as their touring bassist. Hestla will be working on an album with his group Virgos while Creed are recording their LP as a trio, but the bands are considering a joint fall tour after both albums hit stores. Hestla said he would play both sets.

Tremonti, Hestla and Creed drummer Scott Phillips attended last weekend's National Association of Music Merchants trade show in Anaheim, where Paul Reed Smith Guitars unveiled Tremonti's new signature model.

Tremonti said he had been working with PRS to design the guitar for about a year. "It's the baddest guitar on the planet. It's a technically perfect, thick, massive-sounding guitar. I think it's the best in the world today."
Creed, who cleaned up at several recent award ceremonies, are up for two Grammys next month. "With Arms Wide Open" is nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Rock Song, the latter of which would go to its songwriters, Tremonti and Stapp.

"A Grammy would be great — I'm just not gonna count on it," Tremonti said. "We've won a lot of awards this year, and I'm happy about 'em. If we don't win a Grammy, we don't win a Grammy. We've got a lot more albums ahead. But we're up for two of them, so we'll keep our fingers crossed."

Whether people are praising her comely looks or her turntable skills, Britain's DJ Rap has managed to get people talking, which is half the battle for someone about to launch a major-label debut album.
Her first effort for Columbia Records, "Learning Curve," arrives soon, and beyond the low-cut image she presents in her press photos, the turntablist is also promising a unique sound.
"It's a whole bag of different things," DJ Rap told MTV of the album while at this year's Winter Music Conference.
DJ Rap will bring that eclectic sound directly to the people with an in-store appearance at Boston's Newbury Comics on June 1. In addition to signing autographs, DJ Rap will also take some time to spin tracks from "Learning Curve."
