D4L went from obscurity to one of the most talked about groups in rap with their hit single "Laffy Taffy", in the Fall of 2005. A southern-fried tribute to the feminine form, the song dominated the airwaves in the group's hometown of Atlanta, Georgia before going on to become a national crossover hit.
Formed in 2003, D4L (Down 4 Life) is made up of rappers Fa-bo, Mook-B, Stoney and Shawty Lo--all representing different housing projects in Atlanta. Shawty Lo, D4L's leader, put up his own money to launch the group, recruiting three hungry young entertainers looking to break into the music business. Two years later, D4L is another Dirty South success story.
D4L's debut album, D4L: Down For Life was released jointly by Dee Money and Asylum Records in 2005.
