Miley Cyrus issued a statement on Friday afternoon (November 20) about the death of Bill Douglas, the driver who died in an early morning accident in Virginia while driving one of Cyrus' tour buses.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill 'Uncle Bill' Douglas," reads the statement issued on behalf of the Cyrus family. "Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed."

According to a statement released by the Virginia State Police, officials are investigating the crash that occurred on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddle County, Virginia, on Friday morning that took the life of Douglas, 53, who was behind the wheel of one of the four tour buses in Cyrus' entourage. Cyrus was not on that bus, which held nine other crew members who were able to exit the vehicle through the front windshield. Douglas, an Austin, Texas native, died at the scene, according to police.

The bus was ferrying members of the singer's production crew to a Cyrus show in Greensboro, North Carolina, scheduled for Sunday when it ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned onto its right side at around 8:15 a.m. Crew member Mary Zilio, 48, a native of Canada, was hurt in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed minor injuries.

Police have not yet determined the cause of the crash. TMZ obtained two 911 calls made from the scene of the accident which seem to indicate that Douglas was suffering from cardiac arrest. Whether his heart failed before or after the accident has yet to be determined.

Cyrus' show in Greensboro on Sunday will go on as scheduled according to a spokesperson.

Miley Cyrus isn't exactly denying rumors that she's dating Liam Hemsworth, her Australian co-star in "The Last Song" (and the guy who may or may not have encouraged her to quit Twitter), but the soon-to-be 17-year-old singer/actress says that they're definitely BFFs.

"It sucks when your personal life becomes public," she said in the December/January issue of Seventeen magazine. "So I'm finding ways to make my personal and private life more of my life — which is one of the reasons why I deleted my Twitter. We've decided that any type of relationship that we have, we will always just keep it very DL. First and foremost, we are best friends, so that's what I tell people all the time."

Whether or not they are dating, she did say that Hemsworth has the ability to just make her feel really good about herself. "All you want is for one person to say, 'You did a really good job today.' Or 'You look really beautiful,' or 'I was really moved by that.' You just want one person to make you feel good about something you're doing," she explained. "Liam has been a big part of that."

Cyrus said that Liam's support on the set of "Last Song," which opens in April 2010, helped her take on a more mature role than her "Hannah Montana" body of work.

"I've never gotten along with someone so well," she said. "I was a little anxious about making this movie; I wanted everything to be perfect. To go on set and feel insecure was a totally new element for me. But he felt the same way. He admitted his insecurities, and it was really nice to have someone who understands me for once."

This nurturing work relationship almost never happened, Cyrus revealed. When she heard a rumor that he didn't really want the role, she was ready to believe the worst of him at their first audition. "I'm thinking, 'Here's this guy, he's amazingly good-looking, super-confident, and he doesn't realize how blessed he is to be in this room, because I know how blessed I am,' " she recalled. "Then I started talking with him, and he was just the most genuinely precious, sweet person. And the second audition comes around, and the chemistry was instant. From the time he walked in that door and we saw each other again, we [both] lit up, and we were excited to get to work and learn together."

One person was killed when one of Miley Cyrus' tour buses crashed on an Interstate in rural Virginia on Friday (November 20). According to The Associated Press, Cyrus was not on the bus that crashed at around 8:15 a.m.

Virginia State Police said one unidentified person was killed when the bus overturned on Interstate 85, about 40 miles south of Richmond. Multiple sources have identified the deceased as the driver of the bus; the driver's name had not been released at press time. Another one of the nine passengers on the bus carrying Cyrus' production crew was injured in the incident and transported to a local hospital in undisclosed condition.

TMZ reported that the bus was one of four in a tour caravan carrying the 16-year-old singer. Officials told the site that the roads were slick at the time of the accident, due to overnight rains, but that it was unknown at press time if the driver died before or after the bus went off the road and overturned.

Cyrus is slated to play a show on Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina. A spokesperson for the singer could not be reached for comment at press time, but a source close to Cyrus confirmed that she was not on the bus that crashed. Photos of the accident site show the bus on its side in a gully by the side of the Interstate.

With the release of "New Moon" just a few days away, "Twilight" mania seems to be taking over Hollywood. But at least one starlet wants nothing to do with the vampire craze. In a backstage interview at a show in Cleveland, Miley Cyrus told radio station Q92 that she's neither Team Edward nor Team Jacob — in fact, she's not even on team "Twilight." The singer said that not only has she never watched the vampire flick, but she doesn't plan to.

"I've never seen it and nor will I ever," Miley told surprised Q92 reporter Nikolina. The starlet went on to elaborate on what exactly it is about "Twilight" that offends her.

"I don't believe in it. I don't like vampires. ... I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts. I don't like any of it," she said.

But Miley knows she's in the minority when it comes to teenagers and the "Twilight" phenomenon: "I feel really lame because everyone's, like, so excited, and I'm like, 'Don't even talk about it.' "

Yet, as anti-"Twilight" as she may be, the "Hannah Montana" actress might just be forced to watch the series — if nothing more than for research. The singer recently signed up to work with "Twilight" producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey on "Wings," a fantasy movie — which bears some resemblance to the vampire series — about a 15-year-old who becomes a fairy.

It's not the first time the Disney star has gone against a popular trend. The singer of "Party in the U.S.A.," in which she claims a Jay-Z song helped ease her transition to L.A., recently admitted that she's never actually heard Jay-Z and that she doesn't really listen to pop music.

Miley, who was originally a huge proponent of the social-networking tool Twitter, also prompted a lot of chatter after she suddenly left the site and told a Chicago morning show that "Twitter should just be banned from this universe."

In her hit single "Party in the U.S.A.," Miley Cyrus famously claims that a Jay-Z song saved her life (or at least made her taxi ride from LAX bearable). But which one of Hov's hits is she singing about?

Turns out, she doesn't know. Because she's never actually heard a Jay-Z song.

That's what we learned in a new interview posted on Cyrus' MileyWorld Web site, in which the singer — who, it should be noted, is dressed like Pocahontas (it was backstage, before her Halloween concert in Louisville, Kentucky) — was asked by a reporter which Jay-Z tune inspired the line in "Party." And, well, let's just say she answered his question honestly.

"I don't know, I didn't write the song, so I have no idea," she said. "Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn't write it [and] I didn't expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best."

She's correct, she didn't write "Party" (a songwriting team of Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Jessica Cornish did), but surely — as the rather dumbfounded reporter asked in his follow-up — she can agree with the song's sentiment. She's got to be a Jay-Z fan, right?

"I've never heard a Jay-Z song. I don't listen to pop music," Cyrus answered. "['Party in the U.S.A.'] is not even my style of music. I'm really blessed for it to have done as well as it has. Totally blessed. God has definitely put me in an amazing position with amazing people."

Undoubtedly reeling from the magnitude of that claim, the reporter decided to shift gears, jokingly asking Cyrus if she has any plans to cover her father's massive 1992 hit "Achy Breaky Heart." But Miley wasn't ready to let the Jay-Z thing drop.

"No, no thank you," she said. "That's like covering a Jay-Z song. That's not going to happen."

Miley Cyrus may be friends with both Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, but that doesn't mean that the teen queen has any idea if the two are really dating. But, if they are, she's really happy for them.

"The Taylors? Oh, I don't know. I'm not into the drama. I have no idea," she told Chicago's B96 morning show during a tour stop earlier this week, where she also talked about her recent departure from Twitter. "But I've known Taylor [Lautner] since I was really young."

Cyrus, who starred in the "Hannah Montana" movie alongside Swift earlier this year, shared that she was once also cast in a flick with Lautner. "When he did '[The Adventures of] Sharkboy and Lavagirl,' it was between me and somebody else, and then I ended up doing 'Hannah Montana,' so I've known him for, like, a really long time," she said, adding that she fully approves of the couple — if they are dating. "I mean, if he's happy and if she's happy, sounds good to me."

Taylor Swift recently played coy during interviews when asked about her rumored romance with the "Twilight" star and her "Valentine's Day" co-star.

"I don't know, he's an amazing guy and we're really close ... and ah ... yep," she told CMT Radio Live's Cody Alan in an interview, before later in the day giggling with Ellen DeGeneres when asked about Lautner. "We're in a movie together, and I am really excited about seeing it."

Miley Cyrus hasn't been shy about her distaste for Twitter since leaving the site earlier this month. She cited her desire to regain her privacy as the main reason behind the decision, even as rumors spread that she left for her rumored beau and "The Last Song" co-star Liam Hemsworth. And after nearly a month Twitter-free, she's hoping that more people will jump the micro-blogging boat.

"I think that everyone should leave Twitter," she told Chicago's B96 morning show during her tour stop in Chi-Town earlier this week. "I think Twitter should just be banned from this universe."

Cyrus maintains that the Internet is a dangerous place." 'Cause honestly, people, want to know why? You're unhealthy. You need to get out and do stuff and be in the world instead of being like this [hunched over and typing]," she explained. "All I did was lay in bed on my computer and sit there and eat ice cream late at night."

The singer added, "You don't end up living your life and you end up saying things that really is no one else's business. And I'm not a big fan of the Internet anymore," she added. "I don't really go online."

Although fans will have to wait until next year to see Miley Cyrus on the big screen in the "Sex and the City" sequel, the teen queen is already dishing about what it was like to work with Sarah Jessica Parker and company.

"Huge fan, and I think that Sarah Jessica Parker is so cute," she told "Extra." "And the first thing she did was hold someone's coffee so that they could take a picture with me."

In the flick, Cyrus plays herself, and she unintentionally causes trouble for Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones. At the premiere of "Heart of the Desert," a movie starring Samantha's on-again/off-again boyfriend Smith (Jason Lewis), the two ladies show up on the red carpet wearing the same sparkly gown. Unfortunately for Cyrus, she didn't get to keep the dress after the cameras stopped rolling.

"I didn't get to keep the dress because they need it for Kim," she explained. "But I got to keep the necklace. The necklace is cool. It's, like, these giant spikes, and I wanted to wear it while I was performing. My mom was like, 'That could be dangerous. ... You can't wear that onstage.' "

When MTV News asked Cyrus about her rumored role in the flick earlier this fall, the "Hannah Montana" star tried not to spill the beans, but accidentally confirmed she was involved with the flick. "Can we talk about that?" she asked her publicist, before answering, "Ah, zipped tight."

Last week, Miley Cyrus was spotted on the set of the "Sex and the City" sequel. It confirmed the longstanding rumors that the "Hannah Montana" star, who has been open about her love for the TV show and movie, was tapped to make a cameo in the movie.

Despite the paparazzi shots that exist of the young actress on set with Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis couldn't share too many spoilers about Miley's part in the flick. "I was not [on set that day]," she said. "I love Miley. If Miley loves us, I'm thrilled. I heard it's true. "

She was also apprehensive to talk about the rumors that Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz will be chilling with Charlotte, Carrie, Samantha and Miranda in the sequel. "I think Penélope Cruz is a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant actress. I have not seen her lately, but I have met her in life, and when I met her in life she told me she was a big 'Sex and the City' fan and I just about fainted," she said. "I don't know."

What about those rumors that the ladies would be heading to Morocco for a little vacation from New York City? Davis, of course, couldn't confirm or deny those rumors either. But judging by what she did say, the answer looks closer to yes than no.

"I do have my passport, but I can't say where [we're going]. I'm not allowed to say anything. I know — it's so boring. But, yes, we are going on an adventure together ... the group of us," she said. "I can't say because I'll get into so much trouble. I know I'm a horrible interview. Maybe ... I'm going to be in a country that doesn't celebrate Halloween."

If you're holding out hope that Miley Cyrus will return to Twitter, it's time to focus your energy elsewhere. The singer, who quit the site earlier this month, said that she's much happier now that she's not focused on sharing every minute detail of her life with the world.

"I really haven't missed it," the singer said on 104.7 FM's Johnjay and Rich Show in Arizona Tuesday, US Weekly reported. "I thought I was going to miss it a lot more than I do, but I haven't even really looked at other people's, which is really weird. I don't really miss it. It's kind of odd."

Despite earlier reports that she left Twitter at the request of her rumored beau and "The Last Song" co-star, Liam Hemsworth, she says she decided to leave when she realized how much it was affecting the way she lived her life. "It was 3:30 or 4 in the morning. I couldn't sleep," she explained. "[I thought], 'Maybe I could sleep if I wasn't so friggin' busy twittering about not being able to sleep.' "

Her last tweet read: "FYI Liam doesn't have a twttr & he wants ME 2 delete mine w/ gd reason," but since then the "Hannah Montana" star has not only gone on the radio to explain her reasons for leaving, but also released a statement and a rap song about it days after she left.

In the statement, she said, "Rumors have been started that Liam is the reason that I deleted my Twitter. I hope my true fans know how stupid that is. I had mentioned to him that someone made a fake Twitter with his name and we both starting chatting about how ridiculous it is." She added, "Liam is a wonderful friend and he did not try to make me delete my page, he just helped me realize how much time I was wasting on that site."
