Finally, the fated 6/6/06 has arrived. But what's to show for it? Where's Slayer's LP, intended for today? Alas, still in purgatory (a.k.a. production). Deicide and Entombed also missed deadlines. But have no fear, Beelzebub believers. Artimus Pyledriver and Sikth are repping. As are new grindsters Genghis Tron. There's the End Records' black-metal tutorial. And don't forget the "Omen" soundtrack.

The Despair Faction Weep With Joy: That would be AFI's fan club. Sobbing at the arrival of Decemberunderground. It's the band's seventh time out. Replete with requisite choruses and bombast. No limited editions or video enhancements. Just 12 doses of strident punk. You've already heard "Miss Murder" tirelessly. So check out "37mm" and "Affliction."

More Crying, Courtesy a Rap Legend: Ice Cube's Laugh Now, Cry Later. It's another classic West Coast hoedown. Snoop and WC, all over it. Plus Lil Jon's helping out, too. Just "Go to Church" for proof. Swizz Beatz and Green Lantern produce. Scott Storch polishes off two tracks. And don't miss Mike Epps' spot. Come on, "Holla @ Cha' Boy." Make LP #7 worth Cube's while.

Head Automatica Graduate to Become Sophomores: Daryl Palumbo is at it again. Decadence followed Glassjaw's hiatus — now this. Fourteen tracks' worth of power-pop prickliness. "Graduation Day" is all over mtvU. The band is "Laughing at You." While you're "Lying Through Your Teeth." Don't miss "God" or "Curious," either.

DJ Khaled Brings the Miami Heat: DJ Khaled's Listennn ... The Album arrives. And it's presented by Terror Squad. Kanye and Jeezy also on here. Beanie Sigel and Lil Scrappy, too. Plus Clipse, Freeway, Pitbull and CTE. Now that's called a star-studded LP. It's devoted to Khaled's Miami hometown. ("Future of Dade" says it all.)

Paul Oakenfold's Aged Oak-Barrel Wine Flows: At last, Oakenfold's A Lively Mind. This one has been bumping forever. But it's well worth the wait. Pharrell and Grandmaster Flash both appear. Plus 8 Mile-r Brittany Murphy, incredulously. On "Faster Kill Pussycat," no less. This is the producer's second LP. Emphasis on the unquenchable, club-ready beats. Fall Out Boy need new shoes.

The Fort Minor Queen Steps Out: She's half of "Where'd You Go." You know, Mike Shinoda's "TRL" tune. Now, time for Holly Brook proper. Like Blood Like Honey is piano-heavy. Many a heart-wrenching confessional as well. "What I Wouldn't Give" is ubiquitous. It's on TV's "Conviction" and "Related." Is this 20-year-old ready to break? Will she be the next Dido? Only time will tell, they say.

In His Own Words Indeed: Twenty-two-year-old Shaffer C. Smith — a.k.a. Ne-Yo — is proving his penchant for collaborations by hooking up with Rihanna, Ghostface and LL Cool J. But his debut record, In My Own Words, is practically devoid of any guest spots; the only one is with Peedi Crakk on the first track, "Stay." Def Jam is amped for the release nevertheless; it's already shipped 700,000 copies of In My Own Words to stores. Tracks include "Let Me Get This Right," "It Just Ain't Right" and "Sign Me Up."
Punk Partners: Hawthorne Heights' too-good-to-be-true 2005 was sidetracked when tour partners Bayside were involved in a devastating van crash that claimed the life of drummer John "Beatz" Holohan and critically injured two other people from the Bayside camp. Both bands' new albums drop this week (and on the same label, Victory).
While Hawthorne Heights are offering bonus content on their MySpace site, their If Only You Were Lonely is frill-free; you'll have to be content with songs like "Where Can I Stab Myself in the Ears" and "We Are So Last Year." Bayside, on the other hand, stuff their Bayside Acoustic concert CD with a DVD featuring the entire Chicago performance, which was the last gig on their fateful tour. They also chip in with a couple of unreleased songs plus covers of Elliott Smith's "Baby Britain" and Smoking Popes' "Megan," for which singer Josh Caterer guested.
And speaking of the Popes, they're copying Bayside with their At Metro live disc, also released through Victory and also containing a DVD of the respective concert, which was also staged in Chicago. Playing together for the first time since 1998, the band hustles through "Ramblin' Rose," "Off My Mind," "Before I'm Gone" and other smoking selections.
Solid as a Rock: There doesn't seem to be much logic behind Kid Rock putting quotes in the title of his album 'Live' Trucker, as if to suggest that the disc isn't really a concert release (then again — and this is really getting into semantics — is any concert recording really "live"? After all, it's already happened, right? Maybe that's what he means). The 13 songs truly were recorded at different venues in and near his Detroit hometown, and his Web site proclaims that they're so good they'll graduate the album to "a seminal lineage that includes the MC5's Kick Out the Jams, Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band's 'Live' Bullet (note the single quotes, people) and Kiss Alive!" Fans of the Son of Detroit will delight at tracks featuring former Twisted Brown Trucker Band member Uncle Kracker and the late Joe C, plus, oddly enough, country star Gretchen Wilson (on a duet of "Picture").
Bizzy Wants Revenge: We just heard from Bizzy Bone when he spat Speaking in Tongues in September, but the wacky spiritual rapper has already hit the mic again for Thugs Revenge. Bad Azz comes along for the ride on "Caught Up," while Bizzy hooks up with his friend Mr. Capone-E on "Homies" and Mr. Criminal chimes in on "Rollin' With Hi Power." Most exciting to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony fans, though, will be hearing the group get back together for "Ridin' in the Streets." Ridin' with a vengeance, that is.
Prodigy Deluxe: It took forever for the Prodigy to release 2004's Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned — their first studio disc in five years — and it's taken a while for Their Law - The Singles 1990-2005 to hit shelves, too. But maybe this one was worth the wait: The deluxe double-disc is stacked with 30 tracks, including three unreleased songs and a new remix of "Under My Wheels," plus a chunky, 50-page booklet. The same-named DVD, also dropping this week, has videos for "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Firestarter," as well as concert footage from '90s gigs at Red Square in Moscow and elsewhere.
Elvis Costello, War Criminal?: You probably know the Hague as the place where global villains are tried, but a concert venue? Perhaps in an effort to keep Slobodan Milosevic company (why else?), Elvis Costello performed with the 52-piece Metropole Orkest for My Flame Burns Blue. In addition to revamped Costello classics like "Almost Blue" and "Watching the Detectives," he laces 9/11-related lyrics into Charles Mingus' "Hora Decubitus" (the jazz great's widow gave Costello permission to do so) and Billy Strayhorn's last song, "Blood Count." If that's not enough, there's a bonus disc featuring "Il Sogno," a classic composition that was used for Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Other Notables:
Four Guitars' Live at Luxx: Say what you will about Sonic Youth, but one thing's for sure: Their albums always have good stories behind them. What's coming out this week is actually a joint project between Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Wilco's Nels Cline and New York improviser Carlos Giffoni. The 40-minute experimental composition was tracked in August 2001 at a Brooklyn venue briefly owned by the four avant-garde guitarists, who create "moments of tension, peace, violence" and "psychedelic tunnels of sound echo through endless guitar lines." Rare indeed.
Say Anything's Say Anything ... Is a Real Boy and Latterman's Turn Up the Punk We'll Be Singing: When all else fails, re-release. So say Say Anything with the reissue of their debut record, which came out in 2004 on Doghouse but is so good, according to J Records, that it should be restocked in stores. The touched-up version is saddled with a seven-song bonus disc featuring original demos, fresh takes on old songs and the inimitable "I Will Never Write an Obligatory Song About Being on the Road and Missing Someone." On a similar note, Long Island, New York, punks Latterman are putting their still-recent first record out again with remastered sound and new artwork. But alas, while they won't have a major-label push à la Say Anything, two indie labels — Deep Elm and Rok Lok — are joining forces to co-release Turn Up the Punk We'll Be Singing.
Trespassers William's Having and Nine Black Alps' Everything Is: Is there a better person for lesser-known bands to turn to than a big-name producer? Trespassers William enlisted Flaming Lips knob-twiddler Dave Fridmann for their second record, Having. In anticipation of the release, the band released an exclusive live session through iTunes, during which TW played two unreleased tracks. Similarly, Nine Black Alps linked up with Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith) for their first outing, Everything Is, the enhanced version of which comes with a video for the single "Shot Down." In a blaze of glory, they hope.

In previous years, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival developed a reputation for being the most, um, granola-friendly summer concert out there (with a list of headliners that included Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews, Widespread Panic and the Dead, it's not hard to see why). This year, however, it looks like all that will change.
That's because Radiohead have been confirmed as a headliner, joining an initial list of more than 50 acts that also includes Beck, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, Damian Marley and Matisyahu. Bonnaroo 2006 will be held June 16-18 on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee.
Radiohead — in their only confirmed U.S. summer festival appearance — will top the bill on one of the fest's three evenings, with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers penciled in as another headliner; the third, Phil Lesh and Friends (featuring the former Grateful Dead bassist), is more in line with the festival's traditional fanbase. Other acts scheduled to appear include Elvis Costello and the Impostors, My Morning Jacket, Cat Power, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
In 2005, organizers shook things up when they announced Modest Mouse as one of the headliners for Bonnaroo, which had traditionally played host to more jammy bands (see "Modest Mouse, Dave Matthews Band Top Bonnaroo 2005 Bill"). And though some longtime 'Roo supporters were ticked, more than 80,000 still showed up for the festival (see "Bonnaroo Kicks Out The Jams Thanks To Dave Matthews, John Mayer — And Bo Bice").
According to organizers, tickets will go on sale February 11 at 10 a.m. ET via Bonnaroo.com

Kanye West criticized President Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina during a live telethon, not in a song, but two Houston rappers have taken his remarks and matched them with his song "Gold Digger," the Los Angeles Times reports. Damien Randle and Micah Nickerson of the Legendary K.O. also altered the lyrics, commenting on the disaster's aftermath from the evacuees' point of view: "Screwed 'cause they say they're coming back for us too/ But that was three days ago and I don't see no rescue." A spokesperson for West told the Times the rapper had no comment on the remix. ...
After filing for an emergency restraining order against her husband, R. Kelly, earlier this month, Andrea Kelly went to a Chicago court Friday on (September 23) not to ask the judge to extend the protective order, but to get it dismissed. The singer's wife had submitted in a petition on September 2 that she was at risk of physical abuse, harassment, stalking and interference with her personal liberty at her husband's hands, and had scrawled on the petition that she didn't want any contact with him, "at all, by any means." She's apparently changed her mind. ... Britney Spears' "Fantasy" doesn't end with perfume. The singer plans on expanding her beauty line next month to include makeup, with eye shadow (in colors called Midnight, Pixie, Enchanted Forest and Flicker), shimmer (called Fairy Dust), and lip gloss. ... Mariah Carey wants to take you to dinner — if you buy her new remix. The singer is offering an opportunity for fans to win a chance to wine and dine her, if they download the remix to "Shake It Off" at iTunes. Austin, Texas, anti-heroes Spoon — they of the snarling interview and snarky lyric — will be bringing the acrimony to a town near you starting in late October. They've just announced dates for a late fall/ early winter U.S. tour in support of Gimme Fiction beginning October 27 in Louisville, Kentucky. Record producer Phil Spector — who's about to go to trial on first-degree murder charges — has sued his agent for allegedly embezzling nearly half a million dollars from his personal bank accounts. Spector claims in his lawsuit, filed this week in Los Angeles Superior Court, that Michelle Blaine admitted she and her son spent the money but promised to pay it back. Spector claims he found out from his accountants this week that Blaine had actually transferred $425,000 from his pension plan to two companies she co-operates, BT Productions and 3:15 Productions. Spector is seeking a court order barring Blaine from using his funds and compelling her to return the money. He also wants unspecified compensatory damages. ...
Ex-Red House Painters singer Mark Kozelek is fond of covering other artists' work. After releasing acoustic interpretations of AC/DC, John Denver and Neil Diamond, Kozlek is reprising the concept with Tiny Cities, an album of acoustic Modest Mouse tracks, under his Sun Kill Moon moniker. Due November 1, the album features drastically different takes on songs like "Neverending Math Equation" and "Jesus Christ Was an Only Child." ... Meanwhile, Modest Mouse are re-releasing Good News for People Who Love Bad News as a DualDisc on October 11. The CD will feature the album along with the bonus track "I've Got It All (Most)," while the DVD will feature an interview with singer Isaac Brock and videos for "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty" as well as a new clip called "Stiff Animal Fantasy" set to the song "World at Large." ...

R. Kelly isn't due back in court for his child-pornography case until October 7, but he's got a new legal matter on his hands. His wife, Andrea, got an emergency order of protection against him earlier this month. She asked the court in a petition filed on September 2 to prohibit him from alleged physical abuse, harassment, stalking and interfering with her personal liberty, and she also asked the court to prevent him from removing their three children from their home or disposing of their personal property. Since the emergency restraining order expires Friday, she's due in court that morning to ask the judge to extend it. ...
The trailer for Usher's first movie in four years, "In the Mix," premieres Thursday (September 22) at 8 p.m. PT on MTV's Overdrive broadband channel. The romantic comedy, formerly titled "Dying for Dolly," also stars Emmanuelle Chriqui ("On the Line") and Chazz Palminteri ("Poolhall Junkies") and features Usher as a bodyguard who falls in love with his boss' daughter. According to management, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett — the masterminds behind the band — are working with the animation house known as Passion Pictures to produce a holographic version of the band, which they intend to take around the world. In the meantime, Albarn and Hewlett are also planning a five-night stand at the International Festival in Manchester, England, in November. Pop-punk trio release their rock opera American Idiot Tuesday.

After a four-year absence, Green Day are finally coming around again. On Tuesday, the pop-punk trio will release their seventh studio album, American Idiot, their first since 2000's Warning.
A concept album, American Idiot dips into power pop, punk and glam rock and takes cues from the band's own earlier albums to create a rock opera featuring tracks with titles like "Jesus of Suburbia," "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," and "Wake Me Up When September Ends."
Meanwhile, another trio, hard rock band of brothers Chevelle, releases its third studio album, This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In). Bolstered by the rising success of their first single, "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)," this type of album could secure them a high spot on the Billboard 200.
Toning the rock down about 20 or 30 notches is newcomer Skye Sweetnam. The 16-year-old Canadian pop songstress with a penchant for self-deprecating lyrics (she refers to herself on "Hypocrite" as "Avril lite," "bubblegum Britney" and "manufactured skate punk") releases her debut, Noises From the Basement.
Raven-Symoné starred as Olivia on "The Cosby Show," earned the title of youngest artist ever signed to MCA records (at age 5), and collaborated with Stevie Wonder. Now, five years after releasing her sophomore album, Raven-Symoné is claiming the present day for herself. Her third release, This Is My Time, hits stores this week.
Canadian rapper k-os releases his second album, Joyful Rebellion, the follow up to 2003's Exit. With tracks like "B-Boy Stance," about bringing hip-hop back to its simpler roots; "Papercutz," about biased journalists; and "The Man I Used to Be," about Michael Jackson, Joyful Rebellion is a new rap album for the old rap soul.
Also out this week are albums by VHS or Beta (Night on Fire), Willie Nelson and Friends (Outlaws and Angels), Elvis Costello (The Delivery Man and Il Sogno), Keb' Mo' (Peace ... Britney Spears has added 17 shows to her North American tour, which kicked off Tuesday. The new dates begin June 22 in Hartford, Connecticut, and run through August 3 in Selma, Texas. Britney's March 28 concert in Miami will be broadcast live by Showtime. ...
After weeks of studio jam sessions that mimicked their nascent days playing on the streets of South Philly, the Roots have wrapped up work on their sixth studio album, The Tipping Point. The LP is due June 29 through the group's new label, Interscope. ... On Sunday night, federal agents arrested the attorney of rapper Turk, who is currently being held on charges of attempted murder near Memphis, Tennessee. Turk's attorney, Scott Crawford, was charged with obstruction of justice, bribery, attempted bribery, possession of crack cocaine and possession of an illegal handgun, according to a spokesperson for the rapper. It is unclear yet if Turk will have to find new legal counsel. ...
A Perfect Circle have added a batch of spring dates to support their second album, Thirteenth Step, which came out in September. The new shows start April 27 in Camden, New Jersey, and run through May 15 in Duluth, Georgia. ... Sonic Youth have finished their latest album, titled Sonic Youth Nurse. The band's 14th full-length studio LP, due in June, is the follow-up to 2002's Murray Street. ...
Longtime Anthrax bassist Frank Bello, who's played with the group since 1985, has quit the band because of "internal reasons." Armored Saint bass player Joey Vera will take his place for Anthrax's tour of Japan and Australia, which begins April 12 in Sapporo, Japan. Bello's last recording with the band will be the live DVD "Music of Mass Destruction," which comes out April 6. The show was recorded in Chicago in December. ... Elvis Costello, Tom Waits and salsa legend Rubén Blades are among the guests on Los Lobos' new album, The Ride, due May 4. Mavis Staples, Bobby Womack, Richard Thompson, Dave Alvin and Café Tacuba also collaborated with the iconic Latin rock band for the project. ...
On Wednesday night, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood premiered his new composition "Smear World" with the London Sinfonietta in Leeds, England. The experimental piece was part of the festival FuseLeeds04, and featured soloists Valerie Hartmann-Claverie and Bruno Perrault on ondes martenots, an instrument similar to the theremin. ... Three well-known bassists from Manchester, England, have united to form a side project that will likely be called Freebase. The group consists of New Order's Peter Hook, the Stone Roses' Mani and the Smiths' Andy Rourke. Hook is also writing new material for the next New Order album. ...

Metallica have launched a new Web site that will allow fans to download their shows within four days after they occur. The site, www.livemetallica.com, will provide unedited soundboard recordings of all shows on the Madly in Anger Tour, which kicks off Wednesday night (March 3) in Tucson, Arizona. The full concerts will be available in standard MP3 ($9.95) and CD-quality FLAC files ($12.95), and can be burned to disc, transferred to portable players or played through a computer. Printable booklets, tray inlays, and CD labels are also available with purchase. ...
C-Murder appeared in a Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, court on Tuesday for the final hearing in his effort to gain a new murder trial. Judge Martha Sassone said she would rule later on the request to overturn the rapper's conviction of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas during an MC battle. His defense argued that he should be given a new trial because prosecutors failed to inform them that some key witnesses had criminal records. Prosecutors countered that they were not aware of one witness' record because it had been expunged, and that the defense knew during the trial about the trouble the other witnesses had with the law but had chosen not to cross-examine them. C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, is looking at a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Meanwhile, his deposition in the wrongful-death suit brought by Thomas' parents is scheduled for April 13. ...
To mark the 10th anniversary of Nas' classic Illmatic, the LP will be reissued March 30 as a double-disc set comprising a remastered version of the original album and a disc featuring four new remixes, including one of "The World Is Yours," and two new songs, "Star Wars" and "On the Real," which was produced by rap pioneer Marley Marl. A DVD, Video Anthology Vol. 1, will be released separately to coincide with the reissue. ...
Puddle of Mudd's March 29 show at Minnesota State University was canceled by the school after it found out about frontman Wes Scantlin's February 22 arrest for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after a concert in Toledo, Ohio. Scantlin reportedly spat at the audience and threw a bottle at the crowd, acts that the university felt might jeopardize the safety of its students should they happen again. ...
Before they hook-up with No Doubt for a monthlong summer tour in June, Blink-182 will play nine shows with Cypress Hill, beginning April 29 in Nampa, Idaho. Cypress Hill's seventh album, Till Death Do Us Part, drops March 23. ... Sparta's second album, Porcelain, will come out in June. A few details about the long-delayed Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, surfaced in IGN Music's interview with film composer Marco Beltrami, since he did some work-for-hire on the album, arranging orchestral sections for four tracks. "A couple of them I did more than orchestrating," he told IGN. "I actually wrote some melodies and stuff. On one song, I actually wrote a guitar part." Song titles, he said, included "Seven," "Thyme," "The General" and "Leave Me Alone." ...
