Miranda Cosgrove was slated to announce Taylor Swift's performance at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night. It was the "iCarly" star's first time at the big show, and little did she know that her time onstage would be indirectly related to one of the most controversial moments in VMA history.

Cosgrove and Justin Bieber took the stage to announce Swift's performance shortly after West had interrupted the country singer during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. It was a moment that Cosgrove said she just missed.

"I actually wasn't there when Kanye West was onstage, but somebody told me when I came back to my seat, and everyone booed and people were being really crazy," she told MTV News. "It was like this insane thing."

Although she missed West's outburst, she certainly loved being there to see Beyoncé give Swift her time to shine. "I thought it was really cool at the end of the show how Beyoncé had Taylor Swift come out and have her moment," she said. "And how she said she remembered being 17 and being at the VMAs and her big moment. So she let Taylor Swift come out, so that was really cool, and they hugged."

The VMA first-timer loved being at the show and thinks she and Bieber did just fine as presenters. "All of New York comes out [for the VMAs]," she said. "People are just everywhere and really excited, so that was fun. It was really fun [presenting]. We just kind of went out and did it. It went really well."

Cosgrove said Pink's and Jay-Z's performances stood out during the action-packed show. "All the performances were probably my favorite part," she said. "I thought Pink was amazing. That was really awesome with all the acrobatics. And Jay-Z was really cool at the end with Alicia Keys."

They may have only been up for one award on Saturday night (March 28) at the Kids' Choice Awards, but the night definitely belonged to the Jonas Brothers. A who's who of teen stars were on hand at the 22nd annual awards show, hosted by Dwayne Johnson.

The first award of the night, Favorite TV Show, was handed out by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson and went to "iCarly." "We wouldn't be up here without you guys," the show's star, Miranda Cosgrove, told the super-excited crowd. Tons of celebs made appearances throughout the night, like Favorite Male Singer winner Jesse McCartney, Will Ferrell, Sandra Bullock and Hugh Jackman, all of whom got slimed, a time-honored KCA tradition.

Although she wasn't there to claim her Blimp, Selena Gomez won Favorite TV Actress for her work on "Wizards of Waverly Place." Keeping the girl power alive were the Pussycat Dolls, who didn't win any Blimps but did perform "When I Grow Up" and their version of the "Slumdog Millionaire" anthem "Jai Ho."

Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Corbin Bleu and Ashley Tisdale were there to accept the Favorite Movie award for "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." Hudgens also took home a Blimp for Favorite Movie Actress. "A quick shout-out to Lucas [Grabeel] and Monique [Coleman]. We love you guys," Efron said to his missing castmates while accepting the award. "Thank you all for embracing 'HSM.' We love you guys."

It was cute-boy overload as Efron presented the award for Favorite Music Group to the Jonas Brothers. "Thank you guys so much," Joe said, before Nick added, "It's been amazing. We've enjoyed the ride thoroughly." More swooning ensued when "Gossip Girl" heartthrob Chace Crawford announced the JoBros' performance. They rocked the crowd and made girls scream when they performed "S.O.S." and "Burnin' Up."

There was also love for "Twilight," which won for Favorite Book. "This is awesome," Taylor Lautner told the crowd. "Stephenie Meyer wanted to tell you guys 'thank you.' And I can tell you firsthand you guys are gonna love [the 'New Moon' movie]."

Leonardo DiCaprio won the most serious award of the night, taking home the Big Green Help Blimp for inspiring people to be more proactive in saving the environment. And although Miley Cyrus was up for a slew of awards, she only managed to win one for Favorite Female Singer. While hugging her Blimp and fighting back tears, she said, "I really thought I was going to lose."

The night came to an end with Johnson fulfilling his assigned task of finding the right key to make the volcanic slime pyramid explode. What was that key? The Jonas Brothers singing "Lovebug." Other big winners of the night included "American Idol" for Favorite Reality Show, Will Smith for Favorite Movie Actor and past KCA host Jack Black for Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie.

Wondering when "iCarly" star Miranda Cosgrove is going to release some music? Well, we have the answer to the question.

Cosgrove will give fans a taste of what they can expect from her forthcoming debut album when she releases her five-song EP, About You Now, on February 3 on iTunes. The EP will include remixes of her songs "About You Now" and "Stay My Baby," and will also include two new songs: "FYI" and "Party Girl."

"Well, I worked in the beginning with [producers] the Matrix," she told MTV News about the new music. "We wrote some fun pop songs. I've been working with [Britney Spears/ Kelly Clarkson vet] Dr. Luke."

She added that being involved with the creative process has made making the album fun. "It's definitely different getting to be a part of the writing process. Most of the songs are fun, pop, rock-girl empowerment. There's one ballad that's kind of sad."

She talked a bit about that sad ballad. "It's called 'What Are You Waiting For?' It's about a girl who likes a guy [but he doesn't feel the same way]." She added it's something she's experienced in her own life. "I definitely have guys that I'm friends with that I have a crush on, and you don't want to ruin the friendship."

Yeah, we all know who Miley Cyrus is, but there's a whole slew of up-and-coming pop princesses poised to break through. Some are triple threats, some are just focused on acting or singing, but if they plan it just right, these ladies could dethrone Miley and become America's new "it" girl.

Actress/singer Miranda Cosgrove is excited about the new episodes of her Nickelodeon series, "iCarly." "I'm doing more crazy stuff," the 15-year-old revealed. "Also, I have a boyfriend [played by Drew Roy], finally. He's really cute and nice. He drives a motorcycle. It's kind of funny 'cause my character is so sweet."

When she's not busy working on her TV show, Cosgrove is in the studio working on her album, due out this year, for which she's hooked up with famous pop producers the Matrix and Dr. Luke.

"It's definitely different getting to be a part of the writing process," she said about recording the album. "Most of the songs are fun pop-rock girl empowerment. There's one ballad that's kind of sad."

Before landing the role of fashion prodigy Jenny Humphrey on "Gossip Girl," Momsen popped up on the scene in films like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Paranoid Park." Now, the 15-year-old is making a name for herself as a real-life fashionista, hitting up red carpets in both Los Angeles and New York.

In 2009, she'll continue her work on "Gossip Girl" and, like her co-stars Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, she is dabbling in music on the side.

This 22-year-old starlet has a bunch of movies coming out this year, guaranteeing her lots of face time and a big opportunity to gain some "it"-girl points. Having done everything from thrillers to dramas and worked with everyone from Daniel Day-Lewis to the Jonas Brothers on their "Lovebug" video, the "10,000 BC" star has proven she isn't afraid to take risks with her career.

On her slate this year: Bruce Willis' directorial debut "Three Stories About Joan," the sexy "A Deriva" (made in her mother's native Brazil) and "Push," co-starring Dakota Fanning.

Keke Palmer
She's the newest addition to the Nickelodeon pantheon of stars with her show "True Jackson, VP," but you may recognize 15-year-old Palmer from films like "The Longshots" and "Akeelah and the Bee." Palmer released an R&B album, So Uncool, back in 2007, but as she showed off to MTV News at the premiere of "Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh," the Keke has rhyming skills she might be ready to unleash on the world soon.

This year, we'll also see her in the upcoming hip-hop film "Vapors" and "Shrink," co-starring Kevin Spacey.

Lady Gaga
After promising to "be on tour for the next 10, 20 years," Lady Gaga won't be leaving the public eye anytime soon. The 22-year-old Grammy nominee describes her music and live shows as a hybrid of "Andy Warhol concept, pop performance art, multimedia, fashion, technology, video [and] film," adding that when she hits the road in 2009, "it's going to be a traveling museum show."

Her album, The Fame, has been a worldwide hit, and having worked with artists like the Pussycat Dolls and possibly even influencing Christina Aguilera's current look, Gaga is already a tour de force.

It seems like just yesterday that Miranda Cosgrove was the sharp, witty 8-year-old manager of Jack Black's "School of Rock" band. Now, the actress is almost all grown up, and with the hit Nickelodeon show "iCarly," and a solo album in the works, she's on our list of girls who may just be hot on the heels of Miley Cyrus.

You've already heard her voice on the" iCarly" theme song and soundtrack, but this 15-year-old (who was discovered singing at the ripe age of 3) is eager to show some creativity with her upcoming album, which may include a collaboration with Boys Like Girls.

"Actually, with the 'iCarly' soundtrack, I didn't get to write any of the songs. I just picked songs that meant a lot to me that I really liked," Cosgrove told MTV News. "Now, for my own CD, I've been co-writing and getting really into it. It's still pop-rock fun music like the 'iCarly' soundtrack, but I think it's a little more mature. They're love songs and just fun songs about hanging out with your girlfriends."

"iCarly," a show about a girl with her own Web show, has struck a chord with the tween crowd — it's #3 in the demographic, behind just "American Idol" and "Zoey 101" — and has proven to be more than just a TV series. Through iCarly.com, viewers can become a part of the pseudo-reality show by uploading their own videos demonstrating their talents (one such contribution featured a guy squirting milk out of his eye).

"[The user videos are] a really a big part of it," Cosgrove said. "It's the first reality-type show where kids can send in videos and really be a part of it. People can do pretty much anything, like the milk thing, or playing guitar and singing, or inventing something and cooking."

While juggling her work on the screen and in the studio, Cosgrove attempts to keep up with life as usual: She has afternoon get-togethers with friends and still plans to attend college. And rather than get overwhelmed with comparisons to Miley Cyrus, the multitalented Cosgrove says she'd like to focus on her acting — and take everything one day at a time.

"I really think it's cool when I go to the mall, and kids come up to me and say the episodes they like and talk to me about how much they enjoy the show," she said. "It's just such a good feeling to know people are actually watching."
