Somewhere, probably on a beach, country sand bum Kenny Chesney is likely celebrating the #1 debut of his latest album, Hemingway's Whiskey, which will top the Billboard 200 chart next week thanks to sales of 183,000. He easily beat out the week's other top debut, the digital release of incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne's I Am Not a Human Being album, which sold 110,000 copies, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. The physical release of Weezy's album, with bonus tracks, is due on October 12.

The pair lead a stampede of new faces on the charts this week, which also include Gucci Mane at #4 with Georgia's Most Wanted (60,000) and guitar legend Eric Clapton at #6 with Clapton (47,000).

The rest of the top 10: Zac Brown Band, You Get What You Give (#3, 70,000), Eminem, Recovery (#5, 59,000), Trey Songz, Passion, Pain & Pleasure (#7, 42,000), Linkin Park, A Thousand Suns (#8, 42,000), Maroon 5, Hands All Over (#9, 41,000, down 71 percent in week two) and Selena Gomez & the Scene, A Year Without Rain (#10, 38,000).

Just outside the top, Jimmy Eat World land at #11 with Invented (38,000), Lil Boosie is just behind at #13 with the aptly titled Incarcerated (30,000), rock icon Neil Young comes in at #14 with Le Noise (30,000) and Nine Inch Nails maestro Trent Reznor skates into the #20 position with his score to the Facebook move, "The Social Network."

Veteran rapper-turned-family-movie-actor Ice Cube has a soft landing at #22 with I Am the West (22,000), grunge giants Soundgarden are at #24 with their hits collection Telephantasm (19,000), Jeremih is hot on their heels at #17 with All About You (18,000) and smooth crooner Seal crashes in at #31 with Seal 6: Commitment (17,000).

It was also chart debut time for brainy punkers Bad Religion, whose The Dissent of Man comes in at #35 (16,000), just head of Ben Folds' collabo with author Nick Hornby, Lonely Avenue (14,000) and Deerhunter's Halcyon Digest (#37, 14,000). Also debuting this week: Mushroomhead, Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children (#44, 11,000), Gin Blossoms, No Chocolate Cake (#73, 7,000), Mark Ronson and the Business Intl., Record Collection (#81, 6,000) and No Age, Everything in Between (#103, 4,000).

The iTunes charts sees the first major shakeup in a while, with the top 10 albums getting a number of new faces, including Wayne's Human Being at #1, followed by Chesney, Zac Brown, Lecrae with Rehab, Jimmy Eat World, Maroon 5, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, Eminem, Clapton and Gucci.

Though iTunes does not divulge sales figures, the singles chart has a new #1 while otherwise remaining mostly unchanged. Far East Movement move into the top spot with "Like a G6," followed by Bruno Mars ("Just the Way You Are"), Nelly ("Just a Dream"), Rihanna ("Only Girl (In the World)"), Katy Perry ("Teenage Dream"), Flo Rida ("Club Can't Handle Me"), the "Glee" Cast ("Toxic"), Usher ("DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love"), Taio Cruz ("Dynamite") and Lil Wayne ("Gonorrhea").

Look for more shuffling at the top next week with new releases from Toby Keith, Mars, Waka Flocka Flame and David Archuleta.

Long list of stars have signed on to collaborate with soul legend on August LP.

Randy Jackson has brought in some of his dawgs for his new pet project.

The "American Idol" judge has enlisted Mariah Carey, Fantasia and Jon Bon Jovi, among many others, to collaborate on an album he hopes will revive the career of soul legend Sam Moore — of Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" fame — the way pairings with contemporary stars like Rob Thomas gave Carlos Santana new life on his 1999 LP, Supernatural.

Jackson is producing the album, which will also feature such heavyweights as Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Eric Clapton. Titled Overnight Sensational, Moore's first contemporary solo album is due August 29 on Rhino Records.

"[He's] the true original," Jackson said in a press release. "The phone has been ringing off the hook from artists wanting to get involved with this project; everyone wants to sing with Sam."

Moore and fellow southern gospel vocalist Dave Prater signed to Atlantic Records in 1965 as duo Sam & Dave and quickly moved over to the legendary Memphis-based label Stax, which was affiliated with Atlantic. With guidance from songwriting/producing partners Isaac Hayes and Dave Porter, the pair released hits including "Hold On! I'm Coming" and "Soul Man," which was popularized in the late 1970s by the Dan Aykroyd/ John Belushi "Saturday Night Live" sketch and film "The Blues Brothers." Moore and Prater had already split in 1970, however, due to irreconcilable tensions, and Prater died in a 1988 car accident.

Sam & Dave were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, the same year Moore appeared on Springsteen's Human Touch LP.

For Overnight Sensational, Mariah sings with country star Vince Gill on a song called "It's Only Make Believe," while Fantasia is featured on "Blame It On the Rain." Van Hunt and Nikka Costa, who are both managed by Jackson, perform with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons on "If I Had No Loot" and Clapton is joined by pedal-steel guitarist Robert Randolph on "You Are So Beautiful." "Beautiful," as well as "I Can't Stand the Rain," also feature the final recordings from late keyboardist Billy Preston (see "Billy Preston, Legendary Soul Keyboardist And 'The Fifth Beatle,' Dies At 59").

Bad Company's Paul Rodgers, who most recently handled vocal duties for Queen, shares the mic on the Garth Brooks-penned "We Shall Be Free," and Sheila E. and Steve Winwood also appear on the album.

Late Bloomer: Don't get caught napping on Kanye's hugely anticipated Late Registration — tucked in as a bonus track is the full-length take of "Diamonds (From Sierra Leone)." Unlike the version that appears as the 13th track and guests Kanye's boss, Jay-Z, the hidden cut is a non-remix. Also look out for a sample of Donal Leace's "Today Won't Come Again" on "Hey Mama," and producer Jon Brion's cornucopia of odd instruments — including vocoder and xylophone — throughout. Other tracks include "Heard 'Em Say" (featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine), "Crack Music" (featuring Game) and "We Major" (featuring Nas and Really Doe).

Can You Keep Another Secret?: Rihanna, also an employee at Jigga Inc., tacks a secret treat onto the tail end of her debut, Music of the Sun — a remix of her club-tastic "Pon De Replay," this time co-starring the rowdy Elephant Man. Other tracks include: "That's La, La, La," "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" and "There's a Thug in My Life."

Planning for a Breakthrough: Chances are many of you have already heard Death Cab for Cutie's Plans, what with mtvU's exclusive stream and all. But fans won't want to overlook some extra bonus goodies iTunes is offering — including bonus cover songs of Teenage Fanclub's "Start Again" and Freedy Johnston's "Bad Reputation" — and indie-files should take note of guest spots by Beulah's Bill Swan and Harvey Danger's Sean Nelson. Tracks include: "Your Heart Is an Empty Room," "What Sarah Said" and "Someday You Will Be Loved."

Also in Love: Eric Clapton's Back Home is being touted as his first collection of original material in five years, but it seems the guitar icon couldn't steer clear of at least some cover-age, what with a rendition of George Harrison's "Love Comes to Everyone" and the Spinners' "Love Don't Love Nobody." Nor could the frequent collaborator go it alone, with John Mayer, Steve Winwood and Billy Preston paying visits. A limited-edition DualDisc is due the same day. John Mayer May Be Singing The Blues On Next LP

Singer/songwriter has recently hooked up with B.B. King, Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy.

"My next single is gonna be a cover of Lil Jon, 'From the window to the wall,' " John Mayer said recently, referring to the Atlanta rapper's "Get Low." "I've got some unraveling of my career to do. [Singing] 'Put your t---ies on the glass.' I'm gonna bring that to it. Alicia Keys could sing that and no one would care what it means."
Mayer likes to joke a lot in interviews, of course, and this is another example of that. But the singer/songwriter has in fact promised something different with his next album (see "John Mayer Plans To 'Close Up Shop On Acoustic Sensitive' "), and hip-hop is a direction he's been exploring, playing on upcoming tracks by Common and Kanye West.
On the other hand, Mayer also recently collaborated with B.B. King for the blues great's next album, played onstage with Eric Clapton in London a few weeks ago, and jammed Tuesday night with Buddy Guy at the Jammys. And given the blues show Mayer played in New York at the end of last year, that seems a likelier route.
Or perhaps the follow-up to Heavier Things will be a little bit of a lot of things.
"My goal now is to record as soon as I'm done writing," Mayer said. "I don't like going in and doing a whole record — I think it's a really daunting process. I want to be really inspired by the song that I've written, really wait till I'm familiar with it and then put it down and be excited by it. I'm not thinking, 'I gotta hit 12 songs, gotta hit 12 songs.' I might come up with a bunch, track 'em, go home and take a month off."
Mayer's also considering testing songs with some small-scale shows this summer ("It's just going to be me and a couple of people jamming if I go out," he said), and he definitely wants to keep playing with his musical idols.
"When I sit in, I say, 'I'm pretty good at hangin' back,' " Mayer said. "It's like, 'Listen, I don't need to solo.' "
The singer/songwriter has jammed with West before, and he's hoping to do it more as the rapper's second album nears its July 12 release date.
"I wish I was [living] in the '60s, when you'd walk down the street and there would be six clubs with the doors open and music blaring and you could just drag your amp down the street," Mayer said. "The closest thing you could find now is telling Kanye, 'Look, just put me up onstage, don't worry about it, I got you,' and then just play in the band. The hip-hop song structure is the closest you can get to blues."
Whether West repays the favor and raps or produces on Mayer's next album, the rapper has already played a part simply by serving as inspiration.
"With Kanye, the arrogant thing always comes up, but think about what that does for your ability to make art," Mayer explained. "He doesn't even question himself as to whether he can do it or not. He does it fast and good, and he doesn't stop on the side of the road to wonder if he can do it. To watch him is really amazing because everyone else throws these roadblocks. That man is not in his own way. He can't even stand still when he talks about the music he makes.
"The one thing I fear for him the most," he continued, "is if you keep talking about being the greatest — and he knows this — people eventually are going to want to watch you fail. I hope he gets through that all right 'cause he's just a really inspired guy."

Usher Remains At #1; Janet Jackson's A Bridesmaid

Despite a well-publicized "wardrobe malfunction" and a media blitz that included morning shows, the late-night circuit and everything in between, Janet Jackson won't unseat Usher from the top spot on next week's Billboard albums chart.
Miss Jackson continues her sex streak on her eighth album, Damita Jo, though unlike on her past two risqué records, 2001's All for You and 1997's The Velvet Rope, she'll make her debut in a different position: #2. The more than 381,000 copies of Damita Jo that sold last week, however, just about splits the difference between the first-week totals of her previous #1 debuts, which amounted to 605,000 and 202,000, respectively.
Another massively successful week for Usher boosts the total sales of Confessions above the 1.5 million mark. With "Yeah!" continuing its prevalence on airwaves, the R&B singer sold more than 485,000 copies of his fifth album last week.
With a single called "Game Over," the fun is just starting for Lil' Flip. The Dirty South rapper's third album, U Gotta Feel Me, which follows 2002's The Undaground Legend, sold more than 198,000 copies last week to bow at #4.
The blues loom over the #5 and #6 spots, but it's doubtful the classic-rock artists occupying those positions are sobbing. Aerosmith's Honkin' on Bobo, an album that juices up their love of the traditional genre with old-time rock and roll, sold more than 160,000 copies to best Eric Clapton's latest album by 33,000 copies. The guitar great's Me & Mr. Johnson, 14 covers of pioneering bluesman Robert Johnson's best work, will place at #6.
Thanks to the party anthem "Tipsy," J-Kwon's Hood Hop will enter the chart at #7, selling more than 125,000 copies.
The remainder of next week's top 10 will find Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 15 slipping a spot to #3 (with more than 225,000 copies sold); Norah Jones' Feels Like Home falling three places to #8 (103,000); Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits moving from #3 to #9 (96,000); and Kanye West's College Dropout dropping a deuce to #10 (85,000).
Hoobastank's The Reason will crack the top 20 for the first time since its release four months ago. The band's second album will advance six places to #19 to extend its hot streak to six weeks. Last week's tour kickoff with the Lostprophets and the popularity of "The Reason" have boded well for the band with the funny name.
Unconventional and drastically different albums by artists who themselves are unconventional and drastically different stake claim to the #27 and #28 spots, where we find DJ Kay Slay's second label-sanctioned mixtape, The Streetsweeper Vol. 2: The Pain From the Game, featuring contributions from Eminem, 50 Cent and LL Cool J, just ahead of Bob Dylan's live Bootleg Series Vol. 6: Concert at Philharmonic Hall by less than 1,000 copies.
Other notable debuts on next week's chart include Shakira's DVD/live album set, Live & Off the Record, at #45; the TV soundtrack Music From the O.C.: Mix 1, with cuts from Spoon and Jet as well as Phantom Planet's "California," the show's theme song, coming in #52; the Who's Then and Now at #57; RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta, the latest from politically charged rappers Dead Prez, at #60; metal stalwarts Soulfly's fourth album, Prophecy, at #82; and Blast Tyrant, the first album in three years from melodic hardcore vets Clutch, at #147.

Hard Rock Cafe To Reveal Its Secret Stash

The worldwide Hard Rock Cafe chain is opening its vault of music memorabilia to offer the public a glimpse at its treasures, trinkets and trophies. And while ogling such items as Jim Morrison's leather pants and the over-the-top capes worn by Elvis and Elton John, music fans can also brush up on their rock history.
The Hard Rock Vault in Orlando, Florida, will give patrons a peek at its collection, spread out over 17,000 square feet, at a "soft launch" on Monday (December 23), though music fans must wait until January 16 for the official ribbon-cutting, according to a Hard Rock spokesperson. Among the items on display are B.B. King's "Lucille" guitar, Dee Dee Ramone's guitar and black leather jacket, Buddy Holly's signature horn-rimmed glasses, the motorcycle jacket and boots Bruce Springsteen wore on the cover of his Born to Run album, and the two items that started it all for the Hard Rock franchise — the guitars of Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend that hung above the bar in the original Hard Rock Cafe in London (click for photos).
Besides the expected bric-a-brac that is similar to what hangs in Hard Rock Cafes around the world, the Vault offers a virtual time machine called the Total Immersion Tour that allows folks to journey through influential eras like the late '70s punk explosion ("The Back Alley"), the mind-bending '60s ("The Psychedelic Meltdown") and the British Invasion ("The Light and the Dark"), so named for two bands, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, that were almost diametrically opposed in their approach, but together wound up changing the face of music forever.
And what nest of nostalgia would be complete without an homage to Elvis? "The King's Chamber" is the place to go to find items from Presley's early days as a wide-eyed, blues-loving kid from Tupelo, Mississippi, on through his bejeweled reign over the Las Vegas strip.

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Bennett, Paul McCartney, a handful of Hell's Angels, a gospel choir of 5,000 and a throng of close to 1 million onlookers turned out to help England's Queen Elizabeth celebrate 50 years on the throne over the weekend at London's Buckingham Palace.
Eric Clapton, Ricky Martin, S Club 7, Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Joe Cocker, Phil Collins, the Corrs, Aretha Franklin, Sir Elton John, Tom Jones, Annie Lennox, Mis-Teeq, Brian Wilson, Rod Stewart, Cliff Richard and Will Young also turned out for the event, which played to a global television audience of millions more over the course of the weekend-long celebration, according to Reuters.
The Queen's Golden Jubilee weekend kicked off Saturday and came to a climax with Monday's pop concert. The young-at-heart 76-year-old Queen started the star-studded evening by leading the nation in a rousing rendition of the mop-top favorite "All You Need Is Love."
Queen guitarist Brian May then took to the roof of Buckingham Palace in front of 12,000 ticket holders (and a million more outside the palace gates) for a solo performance of the national anthem "God Save the Queen."
After light ceremonies, classical music performances, fireworks, some hardcore church-going and a closing concert, the festivities wrapped up Tuesday. The lights went down on Buckingham as the Hell's Angels joined a gospel choir of 5,000 in a carnival procession. After the parade, the tired Queen waved to the masses from a Buckingham Palace balcony, closing the Jubilee weekend.
Stateside fans can catch a broadcast of the Party at the Palace on Sunday, June 9 at 9 p.m (ET) on VH1.

Fuel have issued a cease and desist order to Toyota, corporate sponsors of the Fuel the Music Tour, demanding Toyota stop using that title for the rock outing. A London High Court judge has ruled that Robbie Williams will have to pay 25 percent of the royalties from his "Jesus in a Camper Van" — around $75,000 — to Woody Guthrie's publisher, Ludlow Music. Williams, who admitted to parodying Guthrie's "I Am the Way" on the track, will also have to pick up Ludlow's legal fees, which amount to another $75,000.
