Katy Perry certainly has been riding the success of her album One of the Boys. The LP has spawned several catchy singles like "I Kissed a Girl" and "Waking up in Vegas" and several VMA nominations, as well as worldwide acclaim for the singer, but now her fans are itching to get their hands on new music from the raven-hair pop star.

Well, good news for those fans: Perry is ready to get back to work. She's even feeling inspired by some of her newest collaborators for her next project, likening her new vibe to that of fellow VMA-nominated band 3OH!3.

"I know that after being on the road for about a year and half, what I'm missing is a little bit of that 'Starstrukk' flavor," she told MTV News on the video set for "Starstrukk," her new song with 3OH!3.

Her new music will eventually have "that beat, that movement a little bit," Perry teased. She even named some Scandinavian inspirations that she's hoping to evoke for her follow-up — and no, we don't mean ABBA.

"I'm kind of thinking I want to do my record like a mesh between 'Lovefool' by the Cardigans and ['The Sign'] by Ace of Base," she explained. "I want to make songs that people want to hold hands and roller-skate to."

When we previously spoke to Perry about her Boys follow-up, she made it clear that she's going in a new direction. "I definitely want to make a follow-up pop, fun record. I'm not looking to alienate my fans, but I can't be that grown-up Shirley Temple girl wearing the stupid strawberry in her hair all the time ... because I'd kill myself or someone else would for me," Perry laughed. "So I'm really excited to always be evolving, and changing; with my look, with my music, it keeps me entertained as well."

The Guinness Fleadh festival is expanding again this year, as promoters have announced plans to bring such artists as the Cardigans, Ben Harper, Shawn Mullins, Van Morrison and other to four U.S. cities -- San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and New York -- in June.
Like the 1998 shows, which played to some 95,000 fans in concerts held in New York, San Francisco and Chicago last summer, this year's Fleadh will feature a rotating line-up throughout its month-long, weekend itinerary, which kicks-off in San Francisco on June 5.
For the third year in a row, the U.S edition of the Fleadh Festival is being sponsored by Guinness and is (vaguely) intended to celebrate the influence of traditional Irish songwriting and storytelling on contemporary music.
Additional artists are expected to be named in the coming weeks, but the dates and tentative line-ups for this year's Fleadh festival are:
6/5 - San Francisco, CA @ Golden Gate Park
Featuring Van Morrison, Elvis Costello,
Ben Harper, the Cardigans, John Lee Hooker, Shane MacGowan, Luka Bloom, Saw Doctors, John Prine, Dave Alvin, John Martyn, Moxy Furious, Eleanor McEvoy, Young Dubliners, Martin Sexton, Shana Morrison and Too Cynical to Cry.
6/12 - Chicago, IL @ TBA
Featuring Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Hootie and the Blowfish, Shawn Mullins, Steve Earle, Taj Mahal, Shane MacGowan, Luka Bloom, Saw Doctors, John Prine, Dave Alvin, John Martyn, Moxy Furious, Eleanor McEvoy, The Drovers, Martin Sexton, Kila, Too Cynical to Cry and Jack Lukeman.
6/19 - Boston, MA @ Suffolk Down
Featuring Elvis Costello, Hootie and the Blowfish, Shawn Mullins, John Lee Hooker, Richard Thompson, Shane MacGowan, Luka Bloom, Saw Doctors, Black 47, Martin Sexton, Blink, Eileen Ivers Band, Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Eleanor McEvoy, John Martyn, Moxy Furious, Mark Geary, Too Cynical to Cry, Watercress and Jack Lukeman.
6/26 - New York City, NY @ Randall's Island
Featuring

As the holiday season prepares to kick into high gear with the post-Thanksgiving shopping boom, several major-market radio stations have announced plans and tentative line-ups for their annual Christmas promo shows.
Detroit-area station 89X has landed Beck, Garbage, Everlast, Placebo, Marcy Playground and Kid Rock for its "The Night 89X Stole Christmas at the Joe," slated for December 20 at the Joe Louis Arena.
A little further south, Atlanta's 99X has gone north, way north, to tap Canadian outfit Barenaked Ladies to headline its "99X Deck the Hall Ball" on December 12 at the Atlantic Civic Center. The event, which is aimed at raising proceeds for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, will also feature performances from the Cardigans and Squirrel Nut Zippers.
Plans and artist billings for two of the season's premiere radio concerts -- sponsored by New York's WXRK on the East Coast and Los Angeles' KROQ on the West, are also expected to be finalized and announced shortly.

The Cardigans are currently in the U.S. where they will team up with acclaimed video director Jonas Akerlund to shoot the first video from their upcoming album, "Gran Turismo."

Akerlund, who has lensed widely hailed clips like Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" [1.3MB QuickTime] and Madonna's "Ray Of Light" [700k QuickTime], certainly seems like a worthy candidate to shoot the Cardigans' video for a track called "My Favourite Game." However, as the band told MTV News this week, the director's résumé was not the deciding factor in getting him involved in the project.

"He's Swedish," singer Nina Persson explained.

"And it's a small country," guitarist Peter Svensson added.

actually, because the dialog becomes easier," Persson said. "And we liked a lot what he had been doing before very much, and also he's a really cool guy, and he's into it as well."

"He liked the song as well," Svensson noted.

"It's a perfected match," Persson concluded.

We'll have to wait a while to find out, but the Cardigans new album, "Gran Turismo," arrives on October 5.
