Riding high atop the list of albums hitting stores Tuesday is the soundtrack to "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement."

"Breakaway," the first single off the compilation comes from Kelly Clarkson, by way of Avril Lavigne, who co-wrote the song. Lindsay Lohan lets out her inner pop star on the Diane Warren-penned track "I Decide." Also featured on the album are tracks by Lavigne herself, Raven (who has her own track, as well as one sung with Julie Andrews), Pink and Wilson Phillips.

In other album-release news, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy release their first live LP this week, the aptly named Live. The zoot-suit-clad, big-band-influenced group, which helped usher in the swing fad of the late 1990s, has released five studio albums, including 2003's Save My Soul.

Rockers Nonpoint will release their fourth studio album, Recoil, the follow-up to 2002's Development, which saw the band taking a turn toward more radio-friendly tracks with more melodic vocals and instrumental hooks.

French pop singer Cherie made her debut with the song "Ready," included on the soundtrack to "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen." Her self-titled first album hits stores this week.

Hip swingsters Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will get Disney-fied for New Year's Eve, as the Los Angeles group will take part in the "Fantasia/2000" Gala being held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and Exhibition Hall in California.
The highlight of the event will be the unveiling of Disney's new animated film "Fantasia/2000," which features seven new interpretations of classical pieces, as well as one old segment from the original 1940 "Fantasia." The 120-piece Philharmonic Orchestra of London will provide the live musical accompaniment to "Fantasia/2000."
Immediately following the screening, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will perform at the Exhibition Hall, counting down to the arrival of the year 2000 at the stroke of midnight.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, which got its break by appearing in the 1996 film "Swingers," is currently on the road in support of its new album, "This Beautiful Life," which was issued in October via Interscope Records.
The group is scheduled to play
the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, Missouri on December 12.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Takes Swing To The Super Bowl

After a year of mainstream radio exposure, MTV airplay, and commercial tie-ins, the once underground swing movement will reach complete mass media meltdown when Big Bad Voodoo Daddy joins Gloria Estefan and Stevie Wonder as part of the Super Bowl halftime show next month.
The band, who will participate in an event saddled with the unwieldy but profitable title of "The Progressive Auto Insurance Super Bowl XXXIII Halftime Show," now joins a roster of past performers that includes Up With People, New Kids On The Block, and Brian Boitano. "Audiences young and old will love the fun, high-energy performance of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy," NFL President Neil Austrian vowed in a written statement released on Monday. The announcement is also believed to be the first time ever that the National Football League has issued a press release that name-checks Black Flag.
In the early days of the Super Bowl, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, the game's halftime proceedings resembled those of your average
football contest with marching bands filling the time between the second and third quarter. Over the years, as viewership has grown, so have the halftime proceedings, giving the world spectacles like Super Bowl XXVI's "Winter Magic" with Gloria Estefan, Brian Boitano and Dorothy Hamill, Super Bowl XXVIII's "Rockin' Country Sunday" with Wynonna, Naomi Judd, Clint Black, Travis Tritt and Tanya Tucker, and Super Bowl XXIX's "The Temple of the Forbidden Eye" with Tony Bennett, Patti LaBelle, Arturo Sandoval and the Miami Sound Machine.
The NFL has tried to give younger viewers less of a reason to turn the channel during halftime of the Super Bowl in recent years, employing the services of Boyz II Men and Queen Latifah last year as part of a Motown Records 40th anniversary celebration.
