Veteran guitarist Jeff Beck is hitting the road on a club tour kicking off February 15 in Seattle to support a new album, You Had It Coming, scheduled for U.S. release on February 6.
The album — another instrumental guitar-rock/electronica combo, according to a representative for Sony Music, Beck's label — is the follow-up to 1999's Who Else!, which was Beck's successful first album of new original material in a decade and garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
You Had It Coming was produced by Andy Wright, whose credits include Massive Attack, Natalie Imbruglia, S Club 7 and Eurythmics. British singer and multi-instrumentalist Imogen Heap supplies vocals on two tracks, including the Muddy Waters classic "Rollin' and Tumblin'."
Jennifer Batten, a solo artist as well as Michael Jackson's tour guitarist for five years, and Randy Hope-Taylor, an alumnus of the U.K.'s Incognito, supplied guitar and bass, respectively, while Steve Alexander is credited on drums.
Like Beck's previous road trip, the tour will again include Batten and Hope-Taylor; new to the touring band is Andy Gangadeen, a top electronica session and tour player whose credits include Massive Attack and the Spice Girls.

The reclusive Beck, universally regarded as one of the top rock guitarists in the world, began his solo career in the mid-'60s after a stint replacing Eric Clapton in the legendary Yardbirds. He later formed the Jeff Beck Group with a then-unknown Rod Stewart on vocals in 1967. Not long after the group disbanded in 1971, Beck, who has been threatening retirement from music since 1966, embarked on a sporadic career as a cutting-edge solo instrumentalist.

The Beatles, Mick Jagger, and the fictional group the Commitments were among the performers honored this week when the British Film Institute released its list of the 100 favorite British flicks of the 20th century.
"Performance," the 1970 movie directed by Nicholas Roeg and Donald Cammell and starring Jagger as a retired rock star who harbors a gangster on the run, was number 48 on the BFI list, which was compiled by 1,000 British film industry types, including producers, directors, distributors, and critics.
The Beatles' 1964 mock rockumentary, "A Hard Day's Night," was named the 88th favorite British film, as the Richard Lester-helmed flick profiled the Fab Four running amok in London at the height of U.K. Beatlemania.
Michelangelo Antonioni's "Blowup" was at 60 on the BFI list, and the 1966 film about a swinging fashion photographer who stumbles onto a murder scene features a notable appearance by the Yardbirds, with both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitars,
capping off a performance of "Stroll On" by demolishing their instruments.
But the highest ranking film featuring a musical group was Alan Parker's 1991 flick, "The Commitments," which was chosen at number 38 and tells the story of a group of Dubliners whose love of '60s soul music leads them to form an R&B revue band.
Other films making the cut include "The Third Man" at number 1, "Lawrence of Arabia" at number 3, "Trainspotting" at number 10, "The Full Monty" at number 25, and "Monty Python's Life of Brian" at number 28.
For the complete list of the British Film Institute's Favorite Films of the 20th Century, be sure check out the BFI's official Web site (www.bfi.org.uk).

-- David Basham

Teen guitar virtuoso Jonny Lang traveled to the White House yesterday to perform alongside fabled bluesman B.B. King as part of a special program, "Tradition and Legends of the Blues Performance," staged on the South Lawn.
As part of the concert, which also featured pianist Marcia Ball and the duo of John Cephas and Phil Wiggins, Lang presented President Clinton and the First Lady with an autographed Fender guitar (Lang's axe of choice). The event was taped by PBS, which plans to air the program in November.
Last week, Lang played in front of rock royalty, as he was personally invited to perform at Mick Jagger's 56th birthday at the Stones frontman's estate on the South of France. While there, Lang jammed with Jagger and guests Bono, Elton John, and Ron Wood.
Next month, Lang kicks off a month-long tour with another guitar legend, Jeff Beck.

In a development drenched in deja vu, Woodstock organizers announced on Tuesday that Jeff Beck would not be able to appear at this summer's 30th anniversary Woodstock concert as previously planned.
Earlier this month, the Woodstock camp announced that the guitarist was among the latest wave of artists to be added to the lineup for this year's Woodstock redux (see "Everclear, Godsmack, Lit, More Headed To Woodstock"). However, concert organizers now say that a scheduling conflict will keep Beck from the show, set for July 23-25 in Rome, New York.
A case of poor timing also kept Beck from playing the original Woodstock concert in 1969. Beck and his Jeff Beck Group were slated to play the three-day festival, but the band broke up less than a week before the concert, and the guitarist never performed at the concert.
"I am very disappointed that I am unable to perform with so many great artists," the guitarist said in a written statement
addressing his most recent Woodstock cancellation.
Fans will have to content themselves with Jewel, DMX, Korn, Aerosmith, Dave Matthews, Limp Bizkit, and a slate of close to 40 acts when Woodstock '99 kicks off on July 23. Tickets for the show are still available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (212) 397-7474 (please note, this is a toll call).
Here's how the Woodstock lineup looks now:

Aerosmith Bush The Chemical Brothers George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars Collective Soul Counting Crows Creed Sheryl Crow DMX Everclear Everlast Fatboy Slim Foo Fighters Godsmack Guster Mickey Hart & Planet Drum Ice Cube Jamiroquai Wyclef Jean & the Refugee Allstars Jewel Kid Rock Korn Limp Bizkit Lit Live Los Lobos Dave Matthews Band Metallica moe.
