It's a motley crew releasing new albums this week, with Melissa Auf Der Maur dropping her first solo project, Truth Hurts and the Baha Men seeking a return to the spotlight, and an electronic band getting dreamy.

Melissa Auf Der Maur, former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist, tries her hand at a solo career with her debut album, Auf Der Maur. Auf Der Maur has brought along some friends to help out, though, including members and former members of Queens of the Stone Age, Hole, A Perfect Circle, Helmet and the Offspring.

Truthfully Speaking, it's been two years since Dr. Dre protégé Truth Hurts released her last album. Well, she's Ready Now, and releasing her sophomore album this week.

Holla at the Baha Men. The group is letting its dogs out again with a new album, Holla! The Men have released three albums since 2000's immensely successful Who Let the Dogs Out, but none have had a comparable runaway hit.

Like Kraftwerk? Have a fondness for electronic music and synthesizers? Tangerine Dream may be right up your alley. They release Dream Mixes 4 this week.

Flying under the radar this week are albums by Downset (Universal), Melissa Ferrick (The Other Side) and Katey Sagal of "Married With Children" fame (Room).

Still have a soft spot for Simba, Bambi, Mowgli, Mickey and the rest of the Walt Disney crew? Ashanti, 'NSYNC, Usher and Christina Aguilera share your feelings.

An all-star cast will remake the Magic Kingdom's movie soundtrack hits on Disneymania, due September 17, and among the contributors is Murder Inc's squeaky-clean songstress Ashanti. She'll cover the "Pocahontas" theme "Colors of the Wind," which was originally performed by Vanessa Williams.

Usher will offer a track from "Tarzan," while Smash Mouth will remake a jingle from "The Jungle Book 2: Mowgli's Story." 'NSYNC's contribution will be an a cappella version of the classic "When You Wish Upon a Star."

Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and the Baha Men will also be featured on the collection. A TV special will accompany the record's release in the fall.

If you're fed up with bubblegum pop and need a hard rock primer course, this week in new releases is for you. While you won't find much along the lines of mainstream releases, you will, however, be bombarded with numerous reissues from such rock gods as Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden.

Newcomers Andrew W.K. and the Walkmen drop their debut albums as well. These two might sound familiar: former Jonathan Fire*Eater members The Walkmen from "You Hear it First" and Andrew W.K. from the virtually inescapable pictures of his bloody mug on the cover of I Get Wet.

If you're looking to rock a wee bit harder, Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo unveils the fruits of his labors with bandmate Rex Brown, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan and members of Crowbar and Eyehategod with Down II, Down's follow-up to 1995's NOLA.

In recognition of the seven-year anniversary of Eazy-E's death, Ruthless Records will release Impact of a Legend, a CD/DVD combination package that includes music videos, interviews, song lyrics, photos, a collectors' comic book and the EP The Godfather of Gangsta Rap.

And, to further feed your nostalgic tendencies, it's all about compilations from Extreme (Millennium Collection), April Wine (Classic Masters) and Mr. Rico Suave himself, Gerardo (Fame, Sex, Y Dinero). Yeah right, like you're not curious. ...

With a Grammy statue tucked away in their doghouse, Baha Men are ready to sing about "The Best Years of Our Lives."
The Bahamian group recently recorded the playful dance song in New York for the soundtrack to the upcoming animated film "Shrek."
"The Best Years of Our Lives" will arrive at radio in April as the lead single to the soundtrack, which hits stores May 8. DreamWorks Records has not announced a full track listing for the project.

"Shrek," a fairy tale about a green monster who sets out to find the perfect wife, features the voices of Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers. It hits theaters in May.

Meanwhile, Baha Men have begun work on the follow-up to their breakthrough album, Who Let the Dogs Out (2000), whose once-ubiquitous title track won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording last week.

The group, which has already worked on several songs for the effort, will continue writing and demo-ing material while on tour with 98 Degrees and Dream in March, April and early May. The still-untitled album may appear as early as late summer, Baha Men's Artemis publicist said.

With their first Grammy in the bag, Baha Men will let the dogs out (sorry) on tour with 98 Degrees and Dream this spring, along with "Dance With Me" singer Debelah Morgan.

Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out" won the Best Dance Recording Grammy on Wednesday, beating Moby, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and Eiffel 65. The Bahamas natives will join the already announced 98 Degrees/Dream lineup for a 26-date tour that kicks off March 22 in Lexington, Kentucky, according to Billboard.
Morgan, whose tango "Dance With Me" — based on the 1950s Broadway and pop hit "Hernando's Hideaway" — is #13 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles sales chart, will also join the tour, which wraps up on May 6 in Concord, California.

98 Degrees' latest album, Revelation, has gone double-platinum. After debuting three weeks ago at #6, Dream's It Was All a Dream, fueled by the hit single "He Loves U Not," is #14 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
