Full Biography

  1. When guitarist/producer Aaron Miller stumbled on Belfast native Joe Cassidy's solo performance one Chicago night in 2002, a band was born. With Cassidy cohort Merritt Lear on guitar and vocals, his old pal David Golitko on drums and New Yorker-turned-Windy City resident Alex Kemp on bass. With Kemp's background as a producer and Golitko's tech-savvy chops added to the mix, the Assassins are a self-contained unit that makes music self-described as "Ritalin starved orphan of Primal Scream, New Order, and Brainiac." In addition to a spot on the bill at one of the Chicago Lollapalooza festivals and a couple of opening act gigs for a few impressive names, the band released its Stephen Hague-produced debut, You Will Changed Us in 2006. In 2008, the group also found its song "Teething" used in an episode of the MTV series The Hills.
