Biography

Soviet filmmaker Vladimir Grammatikov specializes in children's and youth-oriented films and has spent most of his career at the Central Studio of Films for Children and Youth (aka Gorky Film Studio) in Moscow. Grammatikov started out as an actor at the Young Spectator's Theater. He subsequently worked as a director and choreographer at the Stanislavsky Drama Theater and Obraztsov Puppet Theater in Moscow. Grammatikov entered films as an actor in 1966, appearing in the feature Ne Samy Udachny Den/Not the Luckiest Day. He subsequently appeared in many more. In 1971, he enrolled at VGIK to study film direction under Efim Dzigan. Grammatikov began working for the Gorky Film Studio within a year of his 1975 graduation and made his feature debut in 1977 with Usatyy Nyan/The Whiskered Nanny. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
