A tall and skinny one-man band, Slim Andrews was discovered by B-Western cowboy Tex Ritter, who secured the Arkansan a contract with Monogram in 1940 and made Andrews his comic sidekick in six musical Westerns for the company. Alone among sidekicks, Andrews had his own comic crony, an obstreperous mule named Josephine. Andrews remained close to Ritter even after their onscreen partnership ended, joining the $Tex Ritter and His Hollywood Revue touring show in 1948. He later hosted a local morning show on KMJ-TV of Fresno, CA, and, later still, became a frequent guest star of various B-Western memorabilia shows. Andrews was the father of John Andrews, an actor who played the Wolfman in the low-budget Orgy of the Dead (1965). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
