Actor Brian Dierker took one of his first onscreen bows with a memorable character portrayal: that of Rainey, a middle-aged hippie who becomes one of two parental figures for lost soul Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), in the harrowing Sean Penn-directed biopic Into the Wild (2007). For that picture, Dierker, Hirsch, and the rest of the cast gleaned a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
