The Golden Globes are only days away — and MTV News will be here all week long to get you geared up for the big night with profiles, previews and fashion galore. It all comes to a head Sunday night, when we'll have more coverage than you can throw a shiny statuette at.

Neil Patrick Harris is the one guy willing to go up against HBO this Sunday at the Golden Globes. He's up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, and he is literally the only non-HBO-show actor in the category.

So, where does he think that puts his chances of winning? "Nil. I'm in a crazy category," he told MTV News backstage during rehearsals for his stint hosting this week's "Saturday Night Live." "So, it's Jeremy Piven. It's Tom Wilkinson — for "John Adams," which is a remarkable performance and nothing at all like Barney Stinson."

He jokingly added, "Apparently I think it's me against HBO. So I can't say f---, ever, and they get to all the time, so I don't think I have a good shot."

How does a guy like Harris end up battling a guy like Wilkinson in an awards-show standoff? Harris explained it to MTV: "It's the Golden Globes. Those funny foreigners, they do what they want."

Although he's been nominated twice before for his work in "Doogie Howser, M.D." and "Clara's Heart," Harris says being recognized for your achievements as an actor never gets old. "Oh, being nominated for a big award is never a 'whatever' situation," he said. "It's a unique show because it's big tables and everyone gets to drink. So you get to go and meet people who you're fans of."

He's still not sure whom he'll be sitting with on Sunday, but has one idea of who he'd like his drinking partners to be: "Brad and Angelina's kids at the kids' table," he joked, adding, "I don't think there's room."

But until then, Harris will be busy working on his hosting duties for the big "yuk fest" of "SNL," living out a lifelong dream. "It's a remarkable feeling. I've wanted to host this show forever," he said. "When Anthony Michael Hall got the gig in '84, I was jealous — so ever since then, every week I go, 'If only ...' And now, look, here I am."

As Harris guest-stars, country "It" girl Taylor Swift will provide the tunes for the night. "I'm really excited to sort of just to see how it is through the eyes of the host," Harris said about his expectations for the night. "I'm not nervous things are going to go wrong. The cast right now is so solid. We're having great time backstage. I think there'll be some singing. Kristen Wiig and I might be doing a funny sketch."

We're all over the Golden Globes! MTV News will be rolling out profiles, previews, fashion and much more in the days leading up to the awards — and this is the place to be on Sunday night, when we'll have live blogs, photos, interviews and more!
