Dana Verde: The plot was simplistic …a dumb loser cop, who is the laughing stock of his department, teams up with a feisty female cabbie, who is a car expert, to catch a few supermodel/banker robbers…but to my surprise I actually found myself laughing! Though Latifah’s make-up was way too heavy and her fashion was tomboy chic (not my style) there were some great moments in the film. Ann- Margaret was hilarious as Jimmy Fallon’s mother. I didn’t even know she was going to be in the film. Her performance was a pleasant surprise. And, Jimmy and the Queen were really funny together (they had great on screen chemistry). I especially loved the scene when they were high on laughing gas. This is a scene you definitely can’t miss (so don’t go to the bathroom during this part). My friend and I were cracking up. And, then, there were the chase scenes (a lot of them), which were pretty good, (though I could tell they were stunt doubles doing the driving). I was also pleasantly surprised by the FINE, and I do mean FINE, guy would played Queen Latifah’s boyfriend (Henry Simmons - finally some eye candy for us girls). I would have like to have seen more of him (especially without a shirt on). Taxi still follows the same old school pattern of the outsider cop that gets chewed out by his frustrated boss, the lieutenant (played by Jennifer Esposito) and has to prove himself. But, what makes this film slightly different is that Jimmy and Latifah are really funny.

BASIC PLOT DESCRIPTION
Queen Latifa is speed racer in a car that’s a cross between Optimus Prime and Kit from Knight Rider, while Jimmy Fallon is a tool of a cop. These two cross paths as Fallon hops in Latifa’s cab to stop a bank robbery and whacky antics ensue.

WHAT WAS THE BEST ACTION SEQUENCE IN THE MOVIE?
The main action in this movie consisted of some over the top yet well done chase scenes. The last chase scene in fact is my pick for best action. You got 2 bank robbers in ridiculous silver benz’s with a pimped crown vic in the middle dragging a sack of money and a hot cop (Jennifer Esposito) in between the cars. They weave through oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the highway and dodge tour buses, it’s great.

WHAT WAS THE MOST REALISTIC SCENE IN THE FILM?
Queen Latifa and Jimmy Fallon are tied up by our bad ass absurdly hot brazilian robbers chicks and when they let their guard down Queen Latifa flips out because Fallon is about to do something stupid. She bugs out and tells the chicks he has a gun and wants to use it against them because she doesn’t want to get shot on his behalf. If that was me I would have kneed him in the bojangles and told the chicks to drag his ass off.

WHAT WAS THE MOST UNREALISTIC SCENE?
First scene of the movie, you see a biker who is apparently nastier than Dave Mirra bouncing off parked trucks, jumping over bridge gaps 3 miles long, and landing safely on the top of a moving truck then dismounting with ease. You find out in 30 seconds that it was Queen Latifa pulling off tricks that would make x-games judges seize.

ANY HOLD YOUR PISS SCENES? (EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO GO, YOU DON’T WANNA MISS THIS):
These Brazilian bank robbing, jaw dropping, so hot they make you mad chicks rob a bank, jump into their tricked out BMW 760, drive to a dumpster and get damn near nekkid (trust me I spelled that right). You should have seen the minimal cheek coverage on these shorts, never have I been so jealous of the front seat of a car in my life.

MOST COMEDIC MOMENT?
Any time when Fallon’s mother was on screen, her character was genius.

Taxi is based on a French film of the same name by Luc Besson (director of The Professional and The Fifth Element) and is based on a script co-written by two alumni of the brilliant sketch comedy show “The State."

Essentially, the movie is about how Jimmy Fallon, as detective Andy Washburn, the dumbest, most incompetent cop on the planet, must team up with taxi driver Queen Latifah, when his license is revoked after he backs a car into a bodega and murders a parrot.

Fallon was funny on "Saturday Night Live" in the right sketch, but he doesn’t even come near the target here, mostly because his portrayal of a cop is totally unconvincing (I’m not buying the “WTC” citation on his uniform either -- what could this walking car crash have possibly done of value on 9/11?). Latifah, showing none of the charisma she displayed in Bringing Down the House, primarily exists to say the word “Damn!” over and over again. Heterosexual men of all ages will welcome the presence of supermodel Gisele, who has the good fortune to be incredibly gorgeous and is therefore spared from making terrible jokes like her co-stars.

During a key scene in Taxi, Latifah and Fallon accidentally get high on nitrous oxide and laugh themselves silly. Your only hope of laughing at Taxi is by following their lead and bringing your own tank to the theater. The original French film spawned two sequels. If you hold your breath for an American version of Taxi 2 I fear you will asphyxiate.
