Inspired by real life events, director Mikael Marcimain's tense period drama Call Girl explores a political scandal that shook Sweden in the late 1970s as seen through the eyes of a young girl who is seduced into the seedy Stockholm sex trade. In the wake of a heated election, the ruling Social Democrats find their grip on power starting to slip. Meanwhile, principled detective John Sandberg (Simon J. Berger) uncovers evidence linking a lucrative sex ring run by Stockholm's top madam, Dagmar Glans (Pernilla August), to some of the country's most powerful politicians. As a young prostitute named Iris discovers just how much power she wields over her lustful clients, it's revealed that the extensive reforms proposed by the Social Democrats could have a profound effect on a number of sensitive laws related to sexual consent. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
